X Jewellery Link Chain Collection Preview

This X Jewellery blog brings a preview of the newly debuted X Jewellery Link Chain Collection.

Yesterday saw the launch of the new X Jewellery Link Chain Collection. These are segments of linked chains designed to showcase your X Jewellery in a slightly different way. I have to confess they don’t look particularly eye catching until you see the end result.

X Jewellery Link Chain Collection

The chains come in three different lengths and all three are silver. The choices are 6 cms, 7.4 cms and 40 cms. The first two are obviously designed for bracelets while the latter is for necklaces. The chains are solid links so they don’t come apart in the same way the standard X Jewellery links do. At either end however is the familiar X link. It sounds confusing and the stock images of the chains are quite dull but somehow, it really works and it might be the breath of fresh air that X needs.

Both of the bracelet chains are retailing at $46 or €50 while the necklace length is $85 or €95.

X Jewellery Link Chain Collection Ordering Details

For those of you keen to explore this new look, you’ll find the link chain collection at Trollbeads Akron and of course they ship globally.

X Jewellery Link Chain Collection Summary

When I first heard rumours X Jewellery were doing this, I just didn’t get it but I really like the end result. The mix of textures, metalics and sizes works really well. It feels young and contemporary and everything I had hoped X would be all those years ago when I attended the launch event.

As always I love to hear from my readers. What are your thoughts on the X Jewellery Link Chain Collection? Are you a fan of X? Hit the comments and let me know!

I spent a good deal of time trying to source exactly what was in this new release. Trollbeads have done a terrible job of marketing. When they first released x .I was perplexed why these simple chains were not offered . I don’t like the rubber and wasn’t prepared to wear plastic to enjoy the silver links. I collected enough links for a full necklace and where it regularly. I eventually found one of these 40cm chains in copenhagen yesterday and ordered it.it means I can wear both links around my neck and wrist now. . Hardly want one is carrying x now. Too little too late.

I have to point out – and I’m sorry people are going to think I’m going on and on about this.. but I actually *have* to point out – Trollbeads and X are not the same brand. X was split off a long time ago. The team in charge have absolutely no affiliation with Trollbeads. Trollbeads have nothing to do with their marketing at all. Distribution is not the same. Absolutely nothing is the same.

I know it’s harder now to find retailers carrying X but hopefully the team will tackle that slowly. If not I’d recommend ordering directly from them 🙂

I have seen x in the trollbeads store…

        • endangeredtrolls

Yes most (though not all) concept stores still carry the line

I’m just wondering, is there no connection at all? Do the Nielsen/Aagard family own X? Many of the designers are the same, so I assumed the marketing and admin team may be different but the creative team may be the same? Genuinely interested and confused!

        • endangeredtrolls

I have no idea of the actual structuring from a business perspective. I know for much of Europe the distribution has changed. They also have their own CEO with zero connection to Trollbeads so it’s operated as it’s own venture. I also know that I have quite specifically been told to differentiate between the two lines and not refer to any connection at all between them.

          • Amanda Mac

Thanks Victoria! Good to know. I found something on the web just now from earlier this year which said they are looking for a UK distributor/ rep. Hopefully that will come to fruition. x

Well, I don’t like the size difference for the bracelets. I like the rubber links even if I’d love to be able to buy plain silver links to make a whole bracelet. I like changing colours depending on what I’m wearing.
But I do like the idea for a necklace. Looks great. I don’t know yet if I’ll put it on my wishlist since I’ve never wanted to wear my X as a necklace. But I’ll think about it.

    • endangeredtrolls

I understand the appeal of changing colours. Honestly it’s one of X’s unique selling points I think. Providing them keep adding more colours of course! 😉

  3. Sibbe

Super cool idea for x that should have been there from the start for those who don’t like the rubber and like an all metal bracelet. To have it in all silver links is quite expensive, but now with these chains it it easily possible from the start.
Cute and edgy to mix it up with the rubber colours and have a assymmetric design.
I an not a fan of the x necklace idea, but i see some who could pull it off.
Definatly want a chain for my bracelet.

    • endangeredtrolls

I think in reality the necklaces could look messy quite fast. Or maybe too much? I love the pictures of them but when I consider translating that to actual day wear… At least for me I think it would look too much.

      Hope that makes sense 😀

  4. Nereida

Great idea. Terrible marketing photos. They desperately need a new and talented stylist. Absurdly high price. These make the possibities truly limitless. I can see the bracelet ones interspersed on a necklace.

    • endangeredtrolls

The team at X have changed again recently and I’m sure they’ll hit their stride with the marketing. There’s some model images over on the X Jewellery website and maybe you’d prefer those 🙂

  5. Amanda Mac

I like the idea they are experimenting, but this is not for me.

I like the idea of necklaces too, but it would surely be cheaper to do it in the rubber links, and seeing that I like the rubber and the fact they are all the same size, that would be the route I would go down.

I’m glad others like it though. Each to his or her own!

  6. Elizabeth

Now wouldn’t it have been cool if one end could come off the link and you could thread a bead or 2 on the chain… I do like the look. I have tons of X but haven’t really worn it much lately except with my missing link and a bead. I am glad to see that they are still trying!

    • endangeredtrolls

Do remember that X Jewellery and Trollbeads no longer have any association with each other so it wouldn’t really make sense for them.

I have to confess – and I don’t mean to offend anyone with this – I never liked that missing link concept 🙁

  7. Gene

I like the idea of these link chains with a silver focal bead and the lock. I just don’t care for the rubber pieces. I had to look up the “missing link” and I don’t like it.

  8. Maria

I liked it and still think the idea is great, but …I love to play and the X is for me too fussy to change. Now I ended up with a necklace with my favourite silver links and that’s it for me. 😄

  9. Lisa G

I never like x for some reason, and find the difference in size between the silver chain and the links odd looking, personally. And what is a “missing link?” When I google it I still don’t get it!

  10. Martha Olavarrieta

I love it. I think it’s a great idea. I especially like the necklace. Royalty and Dragon will look great on it. And I had no idea that X was no longer a part of Trollbeads. Thanks for the info.
On a side note, I’ve been meaning to ask you about Victor. How is that cutie doing?

  11. Pippa

It certainly creates more options. And I do like the idea of an all metal bracelet. But I still don’t want to get into separate modular bracelet system. Though I admit enough curiosity to go look at the line which I haven’t done in ages.

    • Pippa

After looking at X more – it is tempting, I like the basic look but not a lot of the fancier links, clasps or centerpieces. Though I really, really like the Soundwave link. It would be fun to play around with the different materials, colors and even texture if I include the Flashes of Light link.
I’m tempted to try something very basic, but I’m not sure if the new chains are for me – one of the things that appeals to me is the heft of the links. But you never know…

  12. Beth

I really like these chains and feel like they’d give another interesting component to X bracelets. I agree with you that the campaign pics aren’t very good, but, since I already have a fairly extensive collection of X, including enough silver links for a full bracelet, I can really see how the new chains would work, and how they’d add a different dimension to my bracelets. I’d have to get two though; having only one would upset my need for symmetry. 😉

  13. Paula, Gravesend

I have a lot of X Jewellery which I collected some time ago mainly when retailers were discounting their stock. I love the idea of the necklace and bracelet links and that they make a feature of the larger links. I find it am amazing how bad both Trollbeads and X are at promoting their Jewellery especially compared to Pandora and can understand how Pandora is a much more familiar brand for most people. I stack my X with my Ohm beads bracelets.
