True Beadz Pumpkin & Shadow Bracelet Inspiration

This True Beadz blog brings a little pre-fall inspiration starring the True Beadz Pumpkin and Shadow colours.

Over the last week I’ve been experimenting with various colours that feature as Pantone shades for autumn 2017. Two colours that particularly appealed to me were autumn maple and neutral grey. The closest glass shades I found to these were the True Beadz Pumpkin and Shadow colours and I’ve been sharing bangle pictures to social media (follow me on Facebook, Instagram and the Great Lakes Boutique Facebook and Instagram pages.)

I tried to reproduce the same idea with Trollbeads and you can check out that attempt here but the oranges were far deeper than I really wanted. Today I’m sharing the version using True Beadz and I much prefer the end result here. The orange is still a little bright so I’ll keep hoping that Julia revisits it in a more burnt shade.

True Beadz Pumpkin & Shadow Bracelet Inspiration

The True Beadz Pumpkin glass launched for autumn 2015 so it’s not a new series. This is part of the appeal of Julia’s work however. Where some of the brands seem to be battling for the most complex designs (and in turn these can then lose their novelty after a while,) Julia focuses on amazing, seasonal colours. As a result although Pumpkin debuted nearly two years ago, it stills feels fresh and exciting as fall perches on the horizon.

By contrast Shadow is the newest True Beadz colour and it’s a very subtle grey. It’s incredibly versatile as it teams with so many other colours beautifully and I can’t recommend it enough.

Here’s the bracelet.

True Beadz Ordering Details

For those of you wanting to order any of the glass featured here, you can do so via my retail partners at the links below:-

For reference I’ve fixed a lot of the filtering issues on the Great Lakes website and added further options, so you can now shop via colour as well as design. I hope it helps.

True Beadz Pumpkin & Shadow Bracelet Inspiration

I must prefer this bracelet to the Trollbeads version for a couple of reasons. Firstly I think the paler shade of orange fits better (and it truly is a beautiful shade.) Secondly the glass feel more cohesive. With the Trollbeads bracelet I had to mix smooth glass with faceted and the colours were not consistent. For some people that would undoubtedly be an advantage but I prefer the consistency of this bracelet.

On a slightly different note I desperately hope that Julia revisits grey in the future. I personally love Shadow but I think perhaps it’s too subtle for some people and a series of glass just a few shades darker would be amazing.

As always I love to hear from my readers. What are your thoughts on this True Beadz bracelet? Do you prefer this version to the Trollbeads or vice versa? Hit the comments and let me know!

That’s an absolutely adorable bracelet! I love the Pumpkins, the Shadows and the wonderful silvers, you have used. I also prefer this version to the one you showed yesterday.

    • endangeredtrolls

I do too. I think the colours are just better. Isn’t it beautiful? It looks lovely on the wrist 😀

This is a lovely pairing. Like Agi, I prefer it to the Trollbeads one yesterday. I have some of the Trollbeads glass you used, including a couple of pumpkins, and I think they play better with the out and out fall shades, like yellow, green, red, along with some brown or black.

I also have a couple of True Beadz pumpkins in the original shade. I really like how they work so well with the neutral gray in your bracelet. The Shadow changes the atmosphere in such an interesting way. I’m not sure I have a handle on the Shadow glass yet. They look great with “hot” colors, as well as kinds of other color mixes. They might be too cool, though, for my fair-skinned complexion, which runs toward warm, rather than cool and blue-based. What I’d love to see from Julia is an off-white creamy shade. Hint, hint…

I think you’re right. I think the Trollbeads Pumpkins are better with the darker more sumptuous colours than the greys. (And I’m trying so so hard not to go into full autumn mode right now ;))

Let me know if you need any help with the Shadow glass. I have very pale skin (though right now I’m the darkest I’ve ever been for years) and I also have pink undertones. Yellows.. oranges.. generally look *awful* on me. Darker, vampy colours look amazing.

thank you, Beth! i have my “ideas list” always next to me=)))))

  3. Marie

Gorgeous bracelet, and I agree about your comment about Julia’s color talents! I also like that with the glass design *sets* that Julia has chosen, that the set can still offer a certain uniformity or balance to a bracelet without having to buy the same exact bead multiple times if not desired to do so. In that, I feel like I’m playing with a painter’s palette when I play with my True Beadz glass – so much fun!

    • endangeredtrolls

Yes Julia has brought something quite special to the bead world I think. Usually around this time, I’m so impatient for new collections as everything feels “old”. That’s not proving the case with True Beadz.. I’m digging around enjoying the previous fall colours like Terracotta, Pumpkin, Marmor.. I don’t have this so much with other brands and I think it’s because her focus is entirely ON the colours.

      xoxo

    • Julia

thank you, Marie! that is exactly what I feel when playing with glass! I have a feeling I could use them like paints! but I can not draw or paint at all=))))

      • endangeredtrolls

I still can’t get over the fact that Alex can’t draw. Hey.. speaking on which. Can Alexey?

I agree with you, I too like this version better than the previous version. I’m not really an “orangy” person, unless it is is a burnt orange, but I do like Julia’s version of orange – especially the Touch. However I seem to like everything from the Touch-series 😉

I had actually not thought of the “Shadow” as gray. Maybe it is the settings on my monitor, but they look more or less white to me. I think that the Pumpkin-line will look terrific with “Steel Gray” from the Pantone-range. It is “Pantone 18-4005 Steel Gray”.

    • endangeredtrolls

I love Julia’s Pumpkin colour too, though I’d still like to see her do a more burnt orange shade 😀 Shadow is definitely grey but it IS subtle. It’s just one or two shades under a white. I’d love to see Julia tackle a deeper grey too 😀 The steel grey you mention looks lovely. There’s also the neutral grey for this autumn which is lovely too 😀 I suspect Shadow is too subtle for some tastes (though I do love it)

The Shadow Taste looks nice. It reminds me of melting snow and ice. It could be used on a “late winter”-bracelet 🙂

  5. Gene

Of all of Julia’s glass…and I love every one of them!… it’s the True Touch that I like the best. I have the True Touch Shadow and I still have to get the True Touch Pumpkin. These colors look beautiful together. Marmor and Terracotta are also on my list…well all of them are on my list, eventually.

I really like what you did on the Great Lakes Boutique site. That is definitely helpful to be able to zero-in on exactly what your want.

    • endangeredtrolls

Yay! Glad it helped! I’m working my way through their website sloooowly. I might take a my own “stock” images yet. We’ll see. There’s a lot to work on

Hi, Victoria! I love this fall design you’ve put together. I think the pumpkin shade integrated with the Shadow is gorgeous. I’ve been wanting to add some of the True Beadz collection to my bracelets and necklaces – though I don’t yet have any. The True Taste Shadow reminds me of a light autumn rain; I love the subtle shade of Shadow in all its versions in the collection.

Thanks for the beautiful bracelet inspiration, and take care.

    • endangeredtrolls

Oh you should absolutely try some True Beadz glass! They’re absolutely amazing and so different to the other brands 😀 Shadow is a lovely colour. I’m wearing mine *so* often at the moment 😀

Hi Victoria. I’m not an orangy person but I really like these colours. So much you made me order my first True Beadz. 😉 Can’t wait to receive them and see them for real. Have to wait a few weeks, there was some extra delivery time for the pumpkin, I guess I’m not the onely one who likes them, and of course Halloween is on the way. Thanks for the inspiration!
