It’s not a huge release this time but it’s definitely a matter of quality of quantity as the glass is spectacular. Join me in introducing the Trollbeads Stardust Collection.

Trollbeads Christmas 2018

There are just four new glass beads debuting for the Christmas season which sounds alarmingly few by Trollbeads’ standards. That said they are so beautiful in person and while they may not feel wholly new designs, it’s all about the colour. Each retails at $55 and these are not limited edition. Each of the beads uses copper frit, reminiscent of the Daylight Brilliance and Trollbeads Midnight Brilliance.

The Trollbeads Blue Twinkle is my personal favourite purely due to the specific shade they have selected. It’s not navy but it’s just divine!

The Trollbeads Yellow Twinkle is actually a beautiful creamy shade with a very similar honey coloured overlay to the Diamond Bead Amber. Yellow makes it sound quite gharish but it’s not at all. It’s elegant and versatile and feels almost cozy.

The Trollbeads Red Twinkle is a slightly darker colour and I’m so pleased with this as they have entirely avoided the tomato shades that can leak into brighter red glass. It works beautifully with the copper sparkle.

Finally the Trollbeads Green Twinkle is a bright, very festive feeling shade.

A single new gemstone is making it’s debut by way of the Trollbeads Pyrite. If you love the Steel Hematite, you’re sure to adore this bead. If you didn’t, it’s still worth checking out as the colour is warmer. It’s a very strong shot of gold for your festive bracelets. It retails at $65.

There are six new silver beads debuting and one pendant. Of the silvers one design sees two size variations.

The Trollbeads Cookie Jar and More Cookie Jar are identical in design with the latter being larger. Their shape makes them very versatile and the More Cookie Jar is large enough to act as a pendant. For reference they retail at $45 and $55 respectively.

The Trollbeads Blanket of Love is a spherical openwork design consisting of joined hearts. Though it’s not ground breaking in design it’s sweet for the festive season though I do love round beads so there’s definite bias there. It’s retailing at $35.

For reference the Trollbeads Blanket of Love Gold is $390 and I suspect this will appear on quite a few wishlists.

The Trollbeads Heart to Heart is a relatively small bead, retailing at just $35. It’s a heart within a heart design.

The Trollbeads Heart to Heart Pendant is retailing at $65 and though it does fit on both bangles and bracelets, I do personally feel this is better left to a fantasy necklace. A glass bead can be placed inside and it makes for a lovely encased effect.

The Trollbeads Stardust and Come Together beads feel very similar in style, which makes sense as both were designed by Kim Buck. Stardust is more of a definite star design. Both retail at $45.

There’s a new carrier! The Trollbeads Heart Bangle is retailing at $105 and I will admit when I heard the name, I groaned. Fear not however as the heart shape giving name to this bangle is very subtle and you’ll only notice it when looking at the ends. The result when worn is a very contemporary feeling bangle. Indeed if you enjoy stacking bangles without beads, I suspect this is going to become a new favourite. The stock images don’t do justice to this piece.

Lastly is the new Trollbeads Cookie Joy Ring at $55. It’s a a complementary piece to the cookie jar beads and is very sweet.

Trollbeads Christmas 2018 Summary

I was initially concerned when I realised there were only four glass beads for this release but when I saw them in person, all of that was alleviated. These are truly beautiful glass beads and each has it’s own distinctive vibe.

The Blue Twinkle is stunning for a winter night theme. The Red and Green Twinkle are both overtly festive. Meanwhile the Yellow Twinkle is timeless and classical. The Pyrite is a bold, very flashy and eye catching stone though with little variation.

    Hi V,
The Yellow Twinkle reminds me of Egg Nog.
All the best to you and your readers, Jo

To me it was creme brulee šŸ˜‰

It’s very versatile… And kinda cozy. It make me think of knitted sweaters. Definitely a lot of use beyond Christmas but I think that applies to most of the glass – except maybe Green Twinkle which I feel is very festive. (But I don’t wear green much.)

  2. Lola

Omg, my wallet. The blue and green twinkles are amazing, not at all festive to me, which is doubly amazing, and then the pyrite, another incredibly strong, positive energy stone. I can do without Christmas silvers, especially with so many hearts, but the blue and green glass and stone are must haves.

    • endangeredtrolls

That Blue Twinkle I would love to have several of. It’s so beautiful. It’s a very unique shade.. I’m pretty certain it’s a different shade of blue to anything Trollbeads have done before. I think people will see what I mean when they begin to receive it šŸ˜€

  3. Jamie

I’m suprised this is such a small collection but yes it does help on decision making. There’s options but it’s to the point. You definitely get the festive feel and I love it. I’m happy to see the silver prices be so reasonable. I even like the smaller cookie cutter size better šŸ¤— And heart to heart looks very different when on a bracelet. Just goes to show you have to see in person or live photos! That’s why I’m not judging the glass yet. Funny the amber diamond would look nice against the yellow šŸ˜‰ Love the egg nog comment because that’s what I’ll think of now, love egg nog!

    • endangeredtrolls

No it’s not a huge release but it’s truly lovely. The glass is so so beautiful. I liked it from the original images that retailer received but in person it’s amazing. The blue in Blue Twinkle is so beautiful!

  4. Kathy

Hi, Victoria! Iā€™d love to see the 2 cookie cutter beads on a bracelet with another bead for scale. Is the larger bead about like Thumbellina? Or more like the knitting beads? I love them, and the ring as well! Thanks for your tireless reporting!

    • endangeredtrolls

      Good morning,

That will be saved for the live image article šŸ™‚

  5. Kim

I usually go for glass before silver, but I think my must-have from this collection are the cookie cutter beads. They’re so cute and remind me of my family’s holiday cookie tradition. The glass is striking and I do like jewel tones, but I’d like to see these in use before making up my mind. I was surprised to see no new glass kit, since I always used to look forward to that the most. But of course what would happen would be there would be a couple of designs which would be highly sought after and a lot of leftovers. And then most retailers dealt with it last year by refusing to split the kits. So maybe it’s best they avoided that situation this year.

    • endangeredtrolls

Unfortunately while ever there are “premium” designs, the kit situation will continue, be that as uniques or limited edition sets. Of course last year everyone wanted the owl and the reindeer and a little behind that was the christmas tree.

As much as I’m praising them for the versatility of this glass, I do kinda miss something ridiculously cute and festive – even though I don’t much like the holiday! šŸ˜›

      • Kim

Those were exactly the three I wanted last year. šŸ˜‰ And I did manage to source them separately, but it took a bit of work. Last year was the first year I’d seen a widespread refusal on the retailers’ part to split kits from a general release. I understand that retailers don’t want to be stuck with a lot of beads they can’t move, but it’s certainly tough on the customers. And though I do rather miss the fun beads from prior years, I already do have plenty! šŸ™‚

  6. Dee

What exactly is the difference between the original silver bangle & the new heart bangle please? they seem to look very, very similar.

    • endangeredtrolls

As per the article you need to look at the ends of the bangle. If you notice the cross section it’s heart shaped.

      • Dee

Thanks. I guess I was hoping for more of a difference between the two.

        • endangeredtrolls

I think it’s one you’d need to see in person. It looks quite different when worn without beads. Where the other bangles are clearly spherical, this tapers to a point on the wrist. It’s subtle but in some way it’s very elegant and perhaps makes the bangle feel a little more delicate.

  7. Tami

I do not know how to choose a ring size. Are the numbers centimeters?

  8. Pippa

It feels small – last year I remember wanting so much šŸ™‚

I definitely want some of the Twinkle glass – probably the blue and maybe the cream and maybe the red.
I really like Steel Hematite so Pyrite may be a must.
I am disappointed that they went hearts for the gold bead as there are already plenty. And mulitple heart options in silver. And though I like stars, they just did some last year. I like the look of More Cookie Jar (the smaller Cookie Jar looks odd in their catalog pic – not really round) – but I don’t think I’d get much use out of it. Still may want one. It also looks like there may be some beads in the glitter unique kits worth hunting for. šŸ™‚

    • endangeredtrolls

It’s not huge, no but the Twinkle glass are all so beautiful :O The colours are really nice shades and the Pyrite accents everything so well.

The Glitter Kits… some will love that they are back. It was hard hunting out some of those rare designs! Some will feel disappointed they aren’t new. But the kits aren’t left overs for certain as there are premium beads in them šŸ˜€ Ours will hopefully be live at the weekend! šŸ˜€
