Trollbeads Violet Caterpillar for Great Lakes Boutique Bead Bash on the Lake

This Trollbeads blog officially unveils the Trollbeads Violet Caterpillar as the event bead for the Great Lakes Boutique Bead Bash on the Lake.

It’s been a coupe of months since we first announced there would be a Trollbeads event bead at Bead Bash on the Lake. This is incredibly significant for us, making it the first Trollbeads exclusive at by far the most ambitious event to date. Since then we’ve been pretty quiet regarding the specifics though those of you who follow my personal social media profile were essentially given the bead name yesterday, albeit in pictorial form.

Today we are very proud to be unveiling the Trollbeads Violet Caterpillar. Violet is the Pantone Colour of the Year for 2018. The Caterpillar is in my opinion, one of the most iconic early glass beads Trollbeads ever produced. The end result is amazing.

Trollbeads Violet Caterpillar

For those of you unfamiliar with the Caterpillar, it’s a striped, budded glass design used in both early uniques and which appeared on the Trollbeads Anniversary Bracelet. The Caterpillar was arguably the most popular of the glass beads on that bracelet.

The base glass is near identical to the shade of the new designer bracelet, Vine of Dreams. The surface patterning is then a brighter shade of violet. I will say that in the sunshine it looks more purple than in these studio images. Below you’ll see comparisons with the Vine of Dreams glass.

Trollbeads Violet Caterpillar Summary

Now for the facts. The bead is limited to five hundred (500) pieces and will launch in store on Friday May the 4th. Unfortunately Trollbeads event beads cannot be offered online as per corporate rules. Remember when I was encouraging people to attend in person? This is one of the reasons why. The retail price is $45 and it will not be part of any additional promotions. I will say it’s an amazingly chunky bead. It’s not large in terms of towering over other glass but it is chunky in it’s width. As with the other event beads there are no pre-orders nor reserves.

For those of you who want to see further images, be sure to follow me on social media (Facebook, Instagram and the Great Lakes Boutique Facebook and Instagram.) A little later we’ll also be refreshing the live image shopping section of the Great Lakes Boutique website with new purple beads. Do remember also that Vine of Dreams launches tomorrow.

There is a little more Trollbeads related new which I’ll be announcing later today. Simultaneously I’ll confirm all of the Trollbeads promotions for Bead Bash on the Lake.

As always I love to hear from my readers. What are your thoughts on the Trollbeads Violet Caterpillar? Hit the comments and let me know!

Lovely! I could not attend the event this round because I have to be in St. Louis for a business trip:( I have an Amber Waters for anyone willing to make a trade for one of these:) Same price point!

    • endangeredtrolls

You’re going to love it in person πŸ˜€

  3. Nereida

A gorgeous bead . Can’t wait. Is there a lot of variation in color?

    • endangeredtrolls

It seems pretty consistent! They’re mostly all pretty chubby too πŸ˜›

  4. Jane

    *Sigh* πŸ’œ

  5. Katie

Love it. And, oh well. Why is it always purple when it comes to impossible to get trollbeads (I’m looking at you, Purple Diamond….)

  6. Amanda Mac

OMG, I’ve wanted this for years. Even asked for it to be made for me at bead-making events (which was sadly refused, although I have seen one which was once made at a very early event). Gorgeous! It seems to be a lot bigger than the original green one?

    • endangeredtrolls

I’ll check it against my green one when I have a chance but it’s standard sized glass, albeit wider than most recent glass I’d say.

      • Amanda Mac

        Thank you so much!

        • endangeredtrolls

          You’re welcome πŸ™‚

  7. Sarah WW

Gorgeous! I LOVE this bead – and the color is perfection. Cannot wait to see them in person. πŸ™‚

    • endangeredtrolls

      Glad you like it! πŸ˜€

  8. Valerie Bronson

I’ve never gone to an event before. I planned on being there Saturday? Will these be available then, or will they have sold out by then ? any advice would be great πŸ‘

    • endangeredtrolls

They will be available in store throughout the weekend.

  9. Cyndi c

I’m hoping there will be some Saturday!

    • endangeredtrolls

      There will πŸ™‚

  10. Liseth

It’s absolutely amazing, I love it. I’m not a fan of chubby beads, but I’ll make it work. Is there a limit per person, I’m interested in a pair. So glad I found coverage at work for this weekend.

    • endangeredtrolls

There will be a limit though it hasn’t yet been set. A pair won’t be an issue πŸ™‚

  11. Linda

Very pretty! However, it looks so much bigger than Vine of Dreams. Almost jumbo. Is it?

    • endangeredtrolls

      No it’s standard glass πŸ™‚

  12. Pippa

Oh wow!!!! It is amazing!!!! I can not believe they did another caterpillar – I love the caterpillar on my anniversary bracelet! This might be the best event bead ever!!!!
So glad I am coming πŸ™‚
Well done and congratulations to GLB!

It’s going to be so much fun to play with this – so many possibilities!
    “The mind reels.”

    • endangeredtrolls

I told you it was special! πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜€ We of course think it’s the best Trollbeads event bead to date (but there’s a high degree of personal bias here πŸ˜› )

Now you know why I said you needed purple πŸ˜€

  13. Pippa

Meant to tell you that I was clueless, even after your clue yesterday on Facebook – it just never occurred to me that Trollbeads would do this. I was thinking a butterfly after I saw the pic. This is even after my almost 8 y.o. son who was looking over my shoulder said that a catepillar bead would be cool. (They are studying the life cycle of the butterfly in school and currently waiting for the classes catepillar to from chrysilises (sp???).

    • endangeredtrolls

I had far stranger guesses about that picture than yours πŸ˜€ I think it was just myself and some of the Trollbeads USA crew who were giggling πŸ˜€

  14. Deidre

Oh I need a bead fairy!! It’s gorgeous!!

  15. HK

Oh wow I want this so badly! There’s no chance I can make it to the event. What a bummer

  16. Paula, Gravesend

Utterly gutted. I am in the UK and there’s no way I can afford to get to the event. Just wish they would make some available for those who live far away. We seem to miss out in the UK I have no stores near me who sell Trollbeads or Ohm I have to do all my shopping online.

  17. Lynda Leonard

So will the Troll event bead be at the hotel for sale? It said inyour article that it will be at the store…

  18. Diane

The bead looks beautiful! πŸ˜€ The caterpillar design is one of my favorites and I love the brighter violet color of the caterpillar vs. the Vine of Dreams. Or maybe it’s just the way the light is shining through the beads in the last photo. I’m going to have to see if I can get to the event! πŸ˜€ Where does the line form for the TB Violet Caterpillar???

  19. thecutestkitty

How beautiful! Grumble…grumble…I live in Florida.
