Trollbeads Town Musicians of Bremen Preview

This Trollbeads blog brings a preview of the upcoming limited edition Trollbeads Town Musicians of Bremen, exclusive for the German market.

Mere moments ago I shared a preview of the new limited edition Trollbeads Lilac Diamond Bead, launched exclusively to Italian retailers. I mentioned it wasn’t the only new country specific release and this is the second.

The limited edition Trollbeads Town Musicians of Bremen is exclusive to German retailers and for the first time in many years, the brand are declaring precisely how many are being made. The official release date is May the 4th but it can be pre-ordered.

Trollbeads Town Musicians of Bremen

Trollbeads Germany releases a silver bead, designed according to a well-known fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm, the Town Musicians of Bremen. The Bead shows the four main characters from the fairy tale: a donkey, a dog, a cat and a rooster, who go to Bremen together to become city musicians. With this beautiful motif Trollbeads brings the Bremen Town Musicians to life.

This bead comes presented as a gift set, complete with a book. Please do be aware it is written in German. Only three thousand of this bead have been produced in silver and then a mere fifty of a gold version. The silver will retail at €79 where the gold is €1390.

Trollbeads Town Musicians of Bremen Pre-Ordering

For those of you keen to pre-order, you can do so immediately via Katzenmaiers and Nadia does ship globally. I assume Star Bijou will offer pre-orders at some stage.

Trollbeads Town Musicians of Bremen Summary

It’s a little difficult to make out the details of this bead from the current images. At €79 I’ma assuming it’s going to be a good size and indeed if you look at the image of it on the bracelet, it’s towering over the glass beside it. I’m a huge fan of fairy tales so even without being able to truly see the detailing, just the theme of this bead appeals to me and of course it’s so apt as an exclusive for Germany.

What I find very interesting is the advanced declaration of how many beads have been made. The term limited edition has always been a little ambiguous with Trollbeads. They’ve declared quantities of certain releases, such as the thirtieth anniversary bracelet which was even numbered. For the most part they don’t elaborate on how the beads are limited. For example are they only making a particular number or will they produce for a certain duration? This has always been one aspect of Ohm Beads I have appreciated. Germany have a brand new distributor so I suspect this additional information is more related to them than any changes on a global level however.

As always I love to hear from my readers. What are your thoughts on the Trollbeads Town Musicians of Bremen? Will you be pre-ordering this bead? Do you like the fact a definitive number has been announced? Hit the comments and let me know!

I love fairytales a lot, especially those of Brothers Grimm and have some fairytale themed beads already. I did order, my first language is German, so I will enjoy reading the book.

    • endangeredtrolls

As do I! Ohhh imagine if they made more from Brothers Grimm too… :O

  2. Silvia

Just pre-order mine! It seems so cute πŸ™‚

    • endangeredtrolls

It does look nice. I can’t quite work out the detailing but I’m pretty happy to assume that based on the theme alone, I’d love this πŸ˜›

      • Pippa

When I first saw it online with only the one catalog pic I went ahead and ordered based on that same thought. I have such great memories of my father reading us both Andersen’s and the Grimm Bros. fairy tales – many of theirs were quite gruesome, those were always my favorite. πŸ™‚
My son much prefers Andersen’s – and he’ll even let me read the Little Mermaid which is just so beautiful – but first I had to convince him that it is not a “princess movie story” – he likes the idea that he knows the *real* story, not the version Disney stole and messed up.

I am glad that this one is readily available for purchase online (for as long as it lasts) and ships worldwide. I still want their Prague silver bead.

  3. Lola

A little off-topic here. Does anybody own the Star Bangle that’s pictured? Does the oxidization hold, or does it eventually rub shinier and have to be re-oxidized? I really want one, but not if the oxidization doesn’t hold well.

    • endangeredtrolls

The oxidisation on the Star Bangle is no different to that on beads. It’s sat in the crevices just as it does on any decorative bead so there’s no reason to think there’s anything to wear away πŸ™‚

      • Lola

Jewelers I’ve asked, and on their websites, say that over time oxidization can lighten or even wear away with polishing, but the jewelry can be re-oxidized. Even Pandora says this. I haven’t asked Trollbeads, or looked at their FAQ. I suppose I should. πŸ™‚

      • Lola

Forgot to say, but it should be obvious, the better the original oxidization, the better it will hold over time. Pandora says that charms rubbing over the oxidized bracelet will rub the oxidization off, so I’ve refrained from buying one. I haven’t read anywhere how the Star Bangle holds up.

        • Nereida

Crevices are nearly impossible to rub unless you deliberately try to get into the crrvices. This is why oxidation in crevicds don”t tdnd to rub off. If you ask a jeweler, show them a picture. You are probably asking them the erong question.

          • Nereida

Crevices do not tend to rub off. Asking jewelers the wrong question. I get lots of typos when I type fast on a tablet.

        • endangeredtrolls

What Nereida is saying below is correct. The jeweller is confused. Oxidisation on the SURFACE such as Ohm’s dirty finish will wear off. Or Pandora’s old oxidised bracelet too. This isn’t that. Oxidisation that develops in crevices isn’t going to wear away unless you do something like throw it in liquid jewellery cleaner. It doesn’t come into contact with anything for it to wear away. The same can be said for the Star Bangle. There’s nothing to rub off. The raised portions are identical to the beads, they are high shine silver.

          • Lola

With polishing is what I asked the jeweler, and the answer was correct for that question. By “rub” I meant by “polishing.” Recesses don’t have to be cleaned if people don’t like to clean them, but they’ll get grungy over time. Anything that removes tarnish will remove fashion oxidization. So if the recesses are cleaned, even with a polishing cloth, the dark will lighten over time. It may not disappear completely, but it will lighten. I’m curious how quickly this happens with the Star Bangle. I rub my bracelets down at the end of each day’s wear. I’ll order the bangle anyway and test it for myself. I like it hugely. πŸ™‚

          • Lola

Trollbeads Canada just told me that if I’m using their polishing cloth only, the Star Bangle oxidization should not fade, but there’s no guarantee; obviously there can’t be, that’s understandable. But if a jeweler cleans the bangle, or the bangle is cleaned in any other way other than with the cloth, then the oxidization will fade and the bracelet will have to be re-oxidized. Though I’d assume a jeweler would know how to clean an item without fading the oxidization, as Pandora cleans all their charms. Weird. They suggest using nothing but the cloth, anyway. So that’s helpful. But I know how to re-oxidize anyway, if that need ever arises. πŸ™‚

          • Nereida

Lola, don’t take this the wrong way, but I don’t want to know what you are doing with your jewelry if the recesses are getting “grungy” iver time. I regularly polish my jeweley and, unless you stick a needle or your fingernail into those grooves with the polishing cloth, it isn’t getting into those grooves. Trillbeads, of course, if you tell them the recesses get gryngy will expect you to do just that and remove the oxidation. In years of wear NONE of my jewelry have lost oxidation in the recesses wuth polishing. I can, hiwever, gusrantee you that regardkess of the ” quality” of yhe oxidation, stick a goid polishing cloth in the recesses of any oxidized piece and you will sokn remive ALL the oxidation. I hope that helps.NTW, if you are concerned about “gunk”, a steamer will melt any out if those crevuces, leaving the oxidation intact. That’s what steam cleaners do. Just remember to dry your jewelry afterwards. πŸ™‚

          • Lola

By “grunge” I just meant anything that gets onto your skin, lotion, hand soaps, perfumes, or is natural to your skin, sweat, skin oils, life, πŸ™‚ will get onto your jewelry, and into all recesses over time, more so into crevices of a bracelet, if worn alone, than into deeper recesses of charms. I didn’t mean something like mud.

I simply asked Troll Canada if normal polishing of the Star Bangle, as with any other bangle, would fade the oxidization, and they told me their polishing cloth should not fade it, but couldn’t guarantee it would not, but ANY other method of cleaning, even at a jeweler, would definitely fade it so it would need re-oxidization. I didn’t ask anything about specifically cleaning the crevices, but the bracelet as a whole.

I haven’t seen this bracelet yet in person, but the crevices don’t look very deep, and they’re a straight-ish run, not like a charm, that can have very deep hollows, at odd angles that a polishing cloth won’t get near no matter how you rub the item, unless of course you get fancy and wedge the cloth in and rub like crazy. That’s why we take charms in to get cleaned once in a while, or we wash them using soap, water, and the tiny toothbrush provided by Pandora in their care kit, but Trollbeads does not recommend this for their Star Bangle, just the cloth.

Anyway, I’m ordering one today. πŸ˜€ Excited.

I have to thank you for bringing this bead to my attention.

I haven’t bought a bead in a number of years but I collect Brementown Musicians items. They can be hard to come by and I’ll welcome this addition with enthusiasm!

Hope you have been well and happy!

  5. Kim

I like the theme of this, but am finding it very hard to make out the details from these photos. Which is a shame, since it looks like a large piece. I think I’ll wait to see more photos before deciding whether to order. I honestly haven’t been impressed with most of Troll’s silvers lately, so want to get a better sense of how well the detailing is done. I’ll look forward to seeing your photos when you receive yours, Victoria!

  6. Ernesto

Just pre-order mine! Love it! <3

  7. Francoise

I preordered too a couple of weeks ago! I love that the bead can be worn two ways.
I read (or was read!) many of the Grimm tales as a kid, and I loved this one. I look forward to receiving both the bead and the book — I’ll be able to practice my (rusty) german. Can’t wait for this lovely package to arrive at my door…

  8. thecutestkitty

I’m a teacher in Florida. I would love to have this bead!

  9. Elise

I pre-ordered, too. Its difficult to make out the dog’s face so I am hoping it is discernable irl. I love that it’s drilled for the FM and bracelet. Do you think Thomas Cenius is the artist on this one? It kinda looks like his.

    • Nadia

Louise Rimpler is the Designer of the Bead.

      • Elise

Oh, thank you for that info.! I like knowing who the artist is.

  10. Kasia

I love fairytales and that is why I am liking this bead. I am hoping for more beads like this in the future. I preordered mine and so glad that you can preorder and pay closer to release instead of investing money for something you will receive in a couple of monthsπŸ˜€
