Trollbeads Spring 2019 Live Images

This Trollbeads blog brings live images and my own initial thoughts regarding the Trollbeads Spring 2019 collection.

Earlier today the Trollbeads Spring 2019 collection made it’s debut. It’s a strong release and it’s proving popular with collectors though it hasn’t been entirely without any controversy either. As an extra treat the Trollbeads Free Bracelet Promotion also made it’s return today and this time the newest locks are not excluded.

I’m loving the new release but my initial opinions have changed a little after seeing the beads in person versus stock images. This afternoon I’m sharing my own live images and thoughts. I will state that predictably there’s a huge amount of variation in both the gemstones, pearl and the glass so it’s worth shopping live images. For those interested you can find the collection below:-

Trollbeads Spring 2019

The release is comprised of two glass kits, each retailing at $175 or $35 each for the individual beads, two gemstones, a pearl and then assorted silver beads.

The first of the glass kits is the Trollbeads Sunrise Kit and this was my immediate favourite from the previews. Not only are the designs lovely albeit they may not feel new, the colour scheme for this kit really appealed to me. Actually I find it a little autumnal which is probably precisely why I love it so. This kit is actually meant to be a celebration of the light returning following the winter solstice and actually I do think they have captured it. It’s just I personally see fall in these beads.

The kit features two of the coveted anemone beads which originally appeared as uniques. These uniques proved incredibly popular in both jumbo and regular sizes and I actually like that they have added some to the collection as they were very scarce designs as uniques. For the Sunrise Kit it’s the Trollbeads Flowers of Grace and Flowers of Elegance.

Flowers of Grace is an amber colour base, it’s not as bright as the stock image suggests, at least in the beads I have seen.

The Flowers of Elegance has a brown, woody coloured base with beautiful cream flowers. It’s very organic feeling and a definite favourite for me.

The remainder of this kit is comprised of the Trollbeads Dragonfly on Silk, Roots of Wisdom, Drops of White and White Tulips. The dragonflies have been in circulation for a long time as jumbo uniques but they feel very cute and neat as regular sized glass.

Roots of Wisdom is beautiful with it’s glitter stripes and again very organic feeling base. This entire kit is perfect for the cool weather of January. Nothing feels overpowering or premature for the season.

vThat brings us to White Tulips and Drops of White, both of which sit more towards the grey spectrum and have been circulating as uniques. The unique version of Drops of White has been super popular so again this is a design I’m pleased to see. Don’t underestimate this one, it’s really beautiful.

Moving onto the Trollbeads Spirit & Hope Kit and here you’ll find something a little more predictable for the season with fresh greens and teals.

The anemone in this kit is the Trollbeads Flowers of Hope with a teal base and very contrasting white details.

The Roots of Spirit is again a lovely design and in a lovely rich emerald and gold colour scheme.

The Dragonfly in the Garden is again very cute in this smaller size though they seem to vary a lot in actual dimensions.

The Green Tulip differs in the sense of how much of the base you can see.

The Seeds of Hope is another design borrow from the jumbo uniques.

The real surprise for me with this kit came from the Drops of Green however. These are varying from green to teal and it’s just a very pretty design.

The two new stones are the Trollbeads Green Aventurine and Trollbeads Grey Moonstone. The Green Aventurine has been the topic of much debate, initially because it is essentially a revived retired bead. Ironically others are unhappy that it’s quite different to the original. I’ve been very pleased with the colours of these beads with most of them running a good depth of shade. Indeed it was the paler examples that we had very few of. They’ve all be translucent so far and look a great deal like an emerald green version of the Trollbeads Strawberry Quartz.

Similarly it’s worth thinking of the Grey Moonstone as being a brown version of the Feldspar Moonstone. It has those same beautiful pearlescent flashes though in a strong silver colour. Most of ours have been translucent and the colours range from greys to more minky brown shades.

The other revived retiree is of course the Trollbeads Peacock Pearl. As the name suggests these range from browns through greys to blues and greens.

Moving onto the silver pieces, we have the Savoy Knot design recurring as a bead, spacer, ring and lock. Arguably it appears as two beads as the Friendship Knot is very closely related. I liked these from the preview but I didn’t love them. I’m now completely converted. The spacer is larger than I had anticipated and the lock is easy to use with crisp details. I suspect I’ll use these a great deal.

First is the spacer.

The lock.

Finally the Friendship Knot bead.

The second lock in the release is the Trollbeads Lush Meadow Clasp and again there’s a complementary bead and pendant. This lock is a little more tricky to open due to the very raised details.

Of the remaining silver beads Sea Shore is my favourite, making a real neat endcap or frame for another bead. These are small pieces but they do work very well.

The Trollbeads Seed Pods is the largest of the new silver beads.

Then comes Puddles with it’s multi-way coring allowing you a lot of versatility.

The two remaining spacers are the Trollbeads Trunk of Treasure Spacer and the Trollbeads String Spacer. Both of them sit tightly on my bangles though my favourite by far is the Savoy Knot.

Trollbeads Spring 2019 Summary

I really do like this release and more to the point, I think it has been well thought out. It might be a spring release but we’re still only in January. The Sun Rise Kit beautifully captured those cold winter mornings with it’s organic tones and contrasting ambers. This still remains the highlight for me. As the new growth does slowly begin the Spirit and Hope Kit is great for representing the vibrant greens of new shoots. The Grey Moonstone is a cozy feeling stone which when used in multiples can create a really beautiful and neutral backdrop. The Green Aventurine is more vibrant for the most part than I have expected and it introduces those deep tones that so many try to find in Emeralds.

As always I love to hear from my readers. What are your thoughts on the Trollbeads Spring 2019 collection and have you indulged? Hit the comments and let me know!

Thank you for this review! I bought the anemone & dragonfly beads first since I always missed getting them when they were issued as regular unique beads. But I feel the beads have become smaller, compared to previous years’ seasonal releases. This year’s spring beads look more like small uniques to me, at least the ones I bought yesterday. The green aventurine was a pleasant surprise, that it was more transparent (and darker in color!) than the retired version. I’m also glad that Trollbeads has offered another color of the moonstone which exhibits that glow (called adularescence) that labradorite is known for (after all, both stones come from the feldspar group). It’s these natural-occurring differences that make gemstones so fascinating, not how they’re shaped. I got hold of the dark green aventurine which had some visible specks in it so in a way it did look like a green version of Strawberry Quartz! But the biggest surprise for me was the peacock pearl. Did Trollbeads intentionally make it smaller so it would look different from the previous release? Anyway, it’s just an observation (not complaining!) because it does complement in size with the new glass beads I got. Still, I’ll be on the lookout for its other color variations you mentioned (browns & blues).

      Hi 🙂

I’m happy to hear that you’re enjoying the release. In regards to the Peacock Pearls, we’ve seen a lot of variation in the size and they weren’t coming up any smaller than the whites or rosas so it’s possible the store you were in just had smaller examples 🙂

All of the Green Aventurines I’ve seen from this new release have the green spots inside though they get harder to see as the stones get darker. I do agree though, nearly all I have seen are a really strong, dark green!

I love the aventurine. In your photos, the color looks like the green, green grass in May after the last of the snow has melted. That’s the exact color of Spring to me. I plan to wear this on my clover bracelet.

I haven’t bought it yet, but Drops of White is gorgeous. Reminds me of melting icicles. I wouldn’t have given that one a second look if it weren’t for your photo.

The Aventurines we’ve had have all been pretty dark so far though that was by design as it seemed to be what collectors were calling out for. Obviously some were darker but you get what I mean. We had just a couple of pale examples and actually I did like those more than I thought too as I’m not usually a green fan. It’s a lovely stone in my opinion. I didn’t expect the little specs which is why I mentioned to think of it as similar to the Strawberry Quartz but I think most people will love the stone 😀

      • Mary

Hmmm… my eyes really aren’t seeing the green as dark. Maybe it’s the contrast against the black background or the light setting of my computer. I think the specks give a raw and natural look. I’m sure I’ll be happy.

My first choice was the savoy knot lock and the savoy knot, because I love that „celtic“design.
After that,I was searching for a nice peacock pearl so went to different stores, finding a PERFECT one.
    It seems to be impossible….
Some are „greyish“,some have an odd look with scratches and big marks or the colour doesn‘t fit.
So I pick up one with a lavender colour touch…not the perfect one,but nice.
Maybe it‘ll take some time finding a REALLY 100% nice one.
I love the flower glass, too, but I think I should rest something for the REAL spring.
Maybe I will buy one or two of them.
I own three OLD aventurines and have to say that I like the older ,opaque and darker ones more than the newer version.
So I don‘t need the new ones.

    • endangeredtrolls

Pearl often have tiny scratches or imperfections much the way that gemstones do. We’ve had a really lovely but variety but yes they do vary enormously 🙂

    Hello,
I recieved a Trollbeads silver chain bracelet with a troll clasp for a gift. The chain was dull and looked dirty, so I tried using silver ( since it said it was 925 sterling) cleaner and it still looks the same! Is it supposed to be that color? I wear only Sterling Silver and this bracelet is a lot datker than my other pieces. Just wondering if I should return it, or is this normal? Thank You.

    • endangeredtrolls

Trollbeads silver bracelets have oxidisation between the links by design. It’s never recommended to use a silver liquid cleaner on any beads as it removes this oxidisation and you lose the details. You should only use a silver polishing cloth. You can find pictures of the silver bracelets here – https://www.greatlakesboutique.net/collections/trollbeads-bracelets

  5. Maria

The glass beads are nice but what I don’t like is that they are so much smaller, really a pity!

    • endangeredtrolls

I much prefer petite glass in general but I have to say, looking at my Spirit and Hope Kit, the anemone is small but the others aren’t so I think they are varying again 🙂
