Trollbeads Spring 2018 Preview (Trollbeads Enchanted Forest)

This Trollbeads blog brings a complete preview of the upcoming Trollbeads Spring 2018, officially marketed as the Trollbeads Enchanted Forest collection.

Regular readers knew to expect the Trollbeads Spring 217 preview this week but predictably I’ve been absolutely inundated with questions and queries about this release. Trollbeads always launch their spring collection early. This year the official release date is January the 19th. That means pre-orders begin on January the 12th. While I’ll admit January always feels a long way from spring, particularly when we’re all knee deep in snow and have forgotten what daylight is, it’s nice to have something to look forward to within the month and this release, officially called the Trollbeads Enchanted Forest collection, is definitely worth anticipating.

In the enchanted forest of the peacock, the paths are lit up from within. All around you can hear life. The scent of magic infuses your mind.
Fantasy animals roam the clearings and draw you into their world of beauty.

The magnificent peacock spreads its colourful feathers and mesmerizes the visitors who happens upon his path.

People are made of stories. Some are defining and some are just for fun. Great stories come from those experiences that are all about the present. Now is the time for a joyful journey.
Embrace the power and beauty of the fantasy animals and evolve into the perfect version of you.

Welcome to the spring collection 2018

Trollbeads Spring 2018

At the centre of the collection, as if often the case, are two beautiful new glass kits. These are core collection glass so they are not limited editions. Further to that we’re seeing one new lock, ten new decorative silver beads, two stunning pendants, a show stopping ring, a fantasy necklace, a pair of stud earrings and four new sets of decorations for the composable earrings. It’s a huge release!

For me the initial focus is always on the glass. These set the theme for the release both in terms of their vibe and their palette. The first of the two kits and my personal favourite, is the Trollbeads Enchanted Animal Kit. It will retail at $175 or $35 per individual bead and as with all collection kits these will be available individually.

They’re created by Tenzin Phuntsok and Kalden Chophe, the same artists behind the limited edition Winter Forest Kit (2017,) the Winter Wonder Kit (2016) and the Holiday Kit (2015.) This is a really bright kit so it’s perhaps going to feel a little premature in terms of it’s release date but I love the designs. A couple of the beads, particularly the cream and greens of the Trollbeads Opal Jaguar and Trollbeads Prehnite Peacock could be used to great effect on transitional bracelets though. On that note, the individual beads are as follows.

The Trollbeads Opal Jaguar

Elegant, patient and with a powerful bite

The Trollbeads Sapphire Cheetah

The second kit is the Trollbeads Wonderland set, again retailing at $175 for the full kit or $35 for the individual beads. The kit is designed by Tashi, Dhundrup and Dolma, artists behind the Enchanted Days Kit, Wishes & Kisses Kit and both the Summer Coolness and Summer Nature Kits.

Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it – Roald Dahl.

Again we have a bright and vibrant kit with more than a touch of glitter detailing. For me the stripes feel a little too familiar, particularly the teal (called Trollbeads Gleam Stripe) which I find very reminiscent of Soulmates as well as unique designs.

The individual beads in this kit are the Trollbeads Blaze Stripe.

Wake up to a blaze of sunlight.

As can be seen from the glass, there’s a focus on the peacock feather motif for this release. It would certainly explain why the collection appeals to me so much as I’ve always adored feathers in jewellery. This motif is seen in one of the two new pendants and I’m so very excited for this piece.

The Trollbeads Enchanted Peacock Pendant is created by Kristian Krysfeldt and will retail at $115.

The second pendant is the Trollbeads Blooming Katniss designed by Soren Nielsen. It will retail at $55 but this is a really exciting piece in terms of it’s versatility. Though designed as a pendant, it can be used to connect two bracelets or bangles and that will create the most beautiful focal feature for the spring season.

The Enchanted Peacock Pendant is designed to perfectly complement the new Trollbeads Fantasy Necklace with Peacock Pearl. The new necklace will retail at $145 and I already know this ensemble is going to be my go to piece for the spring season.

While we’re on the subject of pearls I’m going to sneak in the new composable earring pieces. The new Trollbeads Pearl Earring Drops are available in either white or peacock and as either spheres or teardrops, all options will retail at $125.

The stud earrings I mentioned are the new Trollbeads Blooming Katniss Earrings, to complement the lovely pendant. Again they’re designed by Soren Nielsen and will retail at $55.

Finally rounding up the jewellery pieces is the Trollbeads Unfolding Ring, designed by Soren Nielsen and set to retail at $115.

As the messenger of spring it unfolds it’s petals and welcomes new life and the promise of summer soon to come

For the new lock we return to the peacock motif with the beautiful Trollbeads Peacock Clasp. It’s designed by Kristian Krysfeldt and will retail at $55.

This brings us to the decorative silver pieces. I mentioned there are ten and one of those is a spacer. Specifically it’s the Trollbeads Lightning Bud Spacer, designed by Soren Nielsen and set to retail at $45. I like the more abstract vibe of this spacer.

Find what lights up your path and follow it.

Trollbeads Spring 2018

The Trollbeads Life Circle looks to be a tiny spacer style design, retailing at just $25 and designed by Mette Saabye but I love the texturing on this.

Trollbeads Spring 2018

The Trollbeads Noble Deer and Trollbeads Wilderness beads, both set to retail at $45 and both designed by Josefine Smith delve into the forest and woodland theme a little further. I’m particularly looking forward to seeing Wilderness in person.

The Trollbeads Peacock Feather (Kristian Krysfeldt) and Trollbeads Flying Fish (Aleksandra Kuczynska) will both retail at $35 making them a little smaller in size. Peacock Feather again picks up the underlying motif of the collection and looks to be a lovely execution, I love the tapered shape of the bead.

The Trollbeads Response, designed by Soren Nielsen, is a little more abstract again and will retail at $55.

The final three silver beads caused quite the stir when leaked on social media and I have to confess they’re also the designs that captured my attention amongst the silvers too. Thomas Cenius has been absent for a while but he’s back with three new designs by way of the Trollbeads Peace… …Love… and …Harmony. Each of these three beads will retail at $55.

Trollbeads Enchanted Forest Summary

To reiterate the global launch date is January the 19th but pre-orders begin on January the 12th.

I’m thoroughly looking forward to this release with the only hesitation being that the bright colours come very early in the year when I’m still usually wrapped in neutrals or darker tones. The peacock theme gives the collection consistency and I appreciate that it extends beyond just the glass but into the silvers and even the lock and pendant.

I would have love to see a new gemstone launch but I find myself saying that with every release!

As always I love to hear from my readers. What are your thoughts on the Trollbeads Spring 2018 collection? What here instantly captures your imagination and are there any immediate must haves? Hit the comments and let me know!

  1. Gene

I love peacocks! When I was a teenager we lived next to a farm where they had peacocks. Then many years later as an adult I went to look at an apartment and the owner had two peacocks in the living room….I didn’t ask!

    • endangeredtrolls

Well I’ve never heard of peacocks inside I have to admit πŸ˜‰ Somewhere I used to keep my horses had them. They were a nightmare! They were always spooking the horses. That’s about my extent of knowledge on peacocks πŸ˜›

  2. Elizabeth (Lizzie)

That’s a nice looking release! I sure hope to be able to pick up a few pieces for myself as well as for gifting.

    • endangeredtrolls

Well the good news is that nothing is limited so there’s no rush either πŸ™‚

  3. Mars

That’s a very beautiful and cohesive release. Lately I’ve been much less enamoured with the collections but I really like everything in this one.

    Bravo Trollbeads!

    • endangeredtrolls

Beautiful isn’t it? And ohhhh that pendant :O πŸ˜€

  4. Laura

Thanks for the preview! I’m not that into Trollbeads, but I really like that peacock pendant. I’ll have to see if I like it enough to get a necklace for it, though. The glass beads look pretty too, but none of them are must-haves for me.

    • endangeredtrolls

Yes it’s definitely designed for the Fantasy Necklace so I don’t see a way around avoiding that investment. Though the Trollbeads Fantasy Necklaces are beautiful and I love the new Peacock Pearl version πŸ˜€

    • Kim

Well, I don’t see any reason why the pendant couldn’t be worn on something like a velvet cord or a plain silver box chain. It really is a lovely piece, and is my favorite from the collection too.

      • TrollbeadsUSA

Hey Kim! The pendant has a hole through the torso so it will sit straight up on the fantasy necklace. If you were to put it on a cord it would sit sideways, but if you wanted to add an “o ring” to the piece it could definitely be worn on a non-Trollbeads necklace.

        Happy Holidays!

        • Kim

Or you could just loop the chain around the neck and ignore the hole entirely! Problem solved. Happy holidays! πŸ™‚

  5. Nell

I agree with Mars, this looks much more promising than some of their recent releases (though I’m still working my way through the last one!)
But it’s quite a large release… does that mean a retirement is on the cards too?

    • endangeredtrolls

I have no idea I’m afraid. I haven’t been told of a retirement yet though that doesn’t mean there isn’t one πŸ™‚

They tend to announce those at the start of the year so I guess we just wait and see πŸ™‚

  6. Maria

The * love * by Thomas Cenuis is a must have πŸ˜ƒ the Jaguar, Cheetah, Peacock and Life circle are also on my wish list.
I specially love the Life circle, small spacers can be so useful. I know that from my Pandora time, long ago…πŸ˜”

    • endangeredtrolls

It’s great to see Thomas back with Trollbeads I think and what amazing comeback pieces :O

I *love* Circle of Life. I just wonder if it’s going to get completely lost on a bracelet? But the texture and everything is so perfect!

  7. Jamie

Wooooo what a release, time to digest everything! I think they almost cover a bit of everything here which is wonderful.

For starters; the glass, I love this first kit. Very bold and colorful and the animal print detail, I’m sold. The second kit feels more like a reboot of uniques so I’ll pass on that. As for the silvers; peacock feather and life circle are a must. Simple yet great for building a bracelet. I’m not too much on anything else since I’m too focused on bracelets. I have yet to jump into necklaces but that peacock FN is wonderful. In keeping with the theme I really like the new lock but I wish it had a bit more detail. It’s nice to see the one side but I feel a few more line details would have really brought it together. Just seems unfinished to me.

Either way I’m so excited to see these glass beads in person. I know 3 are coming home with me πŸ˜„ Something to look forward to, bold and bright!

Oh and I noticed some prices are different than usual, has there been a price increase for the new year? $35 for glass instead of $34 and $35 for the small silver instead of $31(unless that’s just because of an odd size)

    • endangeredtrolls

Regarding pricing. There is a price balancing for the start of 2018. I’m going to detail that in another post. But… yes some prices are going up. Some are also going down. Some are actually going down quite dramatically (for the USA at least.) So I’d urge people not to panic right now πŸ™‚ They’re trying to align prices for the US versus Europe.

I agree with you about the glass entirely. However I have a sneaking suspicion that I’ll end up liking the Wonderland Kit more in person than I do in stock images. I do tend to like sparkle in my glass so I’m reserving judgement! πŸ˜€

The Peacock Pendant just doesn’t need words πŸ˜€

      • Jamie

To each their own with the glass. I’m sure it will be a love or hate debate. But absolutely seeing them in person makes a world of difference! I already came up with a bracelet idea that I’m itching to make. Another great collection bring together old and new beads. Only a few more weeks and the release will be here before you know it 😊

  8. Joanne B

Do I spy a price increase?

    • endangeredtrolls

      There’s a global price balancing for 2018.

For the USA some prices increase, some decrease. Actually some decrease quite dramatically.

I’m just making sure I’m allowed to discuss it before I put anything out there.

      • Jamie

Interesting, I’m eager to see what the price changes are when your allowed to elaborate.

        • endangeredtrolls

The annoying problem is I don’t have the full details. I know what’s happening for the USA. I know part of what’s happening for the EU. I know nada for anyone else.

Soooo, while I have a post ready, it’s gonna be somewhat incomplete. But yes it’s more to bring US prices inline with mainland European prices so while some items go up, some come down (MOSTLY minor changes) but then some substantial changes on carriers.

  9. Elise

I always look forward to the Spring release and love the theme. For me the Blooming Katniss and the lock will be on my pre-order list! Thanks for this preview, I so enjoyed it!

    • endangeredtrolls

      That Blooming Katniss :O :O

So… you going to wear it as a pendant or on the wrist? I love the idea of using it to tie bracelets together πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

      • Elise

I will try it both ways…I wear bracelets a bit more. I am envisioning it with the Star Bangle….so that may fall into my cart with the Spring pre-order..πŸ˜‰

  10. Kim

The standout piece here is definitely the Enchanted Peacock pendant. That is a truly stunning piece. I’ll have to seriously think about that one. Neither of the glass kits particularly struck me at first glance, but after looking at them again, the Enchanted Animal kit is quite attractive. I just have so much glass now that it takes a lot to get me excited, but I’ll definitely give that kit another look when the collection launches. The Cenius pieces are very well done, but I’m not really into monkeys, so I doubt I’ll buy those. That Peacock pendant, though…

    • endangeredtrolls

The Peacock Pendant is incredible. I’m struggling to gauge the size on it – as I always do with stock images but wow. Must have!

The monkeys.. I always wanted the See No, Hear No, Speak No retired monkeys but they’re so rare and they’ve always changed hands for such staggering amounts. When I first saw these, though the theme is different, it reminded me of those. Since they’re the closest I’m ever going to get…. πŸ˜‰

  11. Ilse

Love the new fantasy necklace with the peacock pendant! I haven’t seen any reaction to the flying fish yet, but I really like that one too. I agree that a new stone would have been nice, but on the other hand it’s not like I already have all the stones I like, so maybe it’s better not to be confused by even more stones to choose from. Sometimes I am having problems figuring out what I am supposed to see, like now with the noble deer: is there a deer to be seen (where exactly?) or is it just a name? Maybe it will be more clear with a picture from another angle, I’ll just wait and see πŸ™‚

    • Ilse

Watched the noble deer again and think I see it now. Good for me, now I can stop looking again and again thinking I must be really stupid not to see it… I also like it better now I can see the deer.

      • endangeredtrolls

Not stupid! It’s just hard when you can’t rotate the bead πŸ™ So many silver designs make more sense if you can SEE them and hold them.

      • Pippa

I’m still not quite seeing it. Definitely will be curious to see more pics.

    • endangeredtrolls

I am trying to find more images I promise. It’s always so hard with intricate silver beads as all you want to do is spin them around πŸ˜›

Hopefully more images will appear soon!

The Peacock Pendant and the Peacock Pearl Necklace are the highlights for me I think. I thought the Flying Fish was a little reminiscent of some of Trollbeads’ older designs which is nice πŸ˜€

  12. Brian

Best Trollbeads release in ages. Animal kit is all mine !!

    • endangeredtrolls

Isn’t it amazing? I love love love those peacocks.

  13. Lisa G

The animal kit is great. I would have to see the silvers to decide. I would definitely take the new spacer, though:). Yes, I heard also that there is going to be a price balancing so that U.S. and European prices are more in line with each other.

    • endangeredtrolls

Yes you got it. Some prices go up. Some come down. MOST (for the USA) are tiny changes but some carriers fall dramatically which is amazing news.

For Europe I think it’s mostly an increase but I’m actually lacking information for that market.

  14. Laura

this Is the first Trollbeads release to interest me in a while- the peacock theme initially caught my eye but am loving the 3 monkey beads the most πŸ™‚

    • endangeredtrolls

I love those too! Thomas Cenius is sure back with a bang πŸ˜€ I can’t wait to see them in person πŸ˜€

  15. Joanne B

“Price decrease” are words I love to hear!

    • endangeredtrolls

Well as I said, it’s a balancing. Some go up. Some go down but it depends on which market you’re in.

  16. Lisa t

There’s so much to love here! The glass but oh—that ring! Wish list is growing…peacocks and monkeys!

    • endangeredtrolls

Yep that ring right?! I’m surprised more people haven’t commented on that. Everyone is always drawn to the glass of course because it’s colourful but ohhh the ring πŸ˜€

Maybe with the Katniss Pendant then holding together two bracelets? (Or bangles?!) πŸ˜€

  17. Dee

I’ve seen these πŸ™‚ the rep was visiting my Local Dealer yesterday so I was lucky enough to have a sneak preview.

My must-have will be the lock, it’s not clear from the stock images but there is an asymmetrical twist to it, so it’s reminiscent of the peacock’s tail. Lovely detail. The pendant is also gorgeous, with detailing on the back (the same reduced feather pattern that’s on the reverse of the lock).

Of the glass, the Prehnite Peacock was the one that stood out to me, it’s a lovely multi-layer design with a feather pattern on the white core, then the ‘eye’ of each feather is a raised detail on the surface of the bead. The pretty, subdued colours of Stardust Stripe make me think that it’ll be a useful bead in lots of combinations.

I’m also a big fan of Tomas Cenius and the monkeys are lovely heavy pieces of 3D silver sculpture – Love in particular is very clever because the bead’s a subtle heart shape, without being too obvious.

Lots to like in this collection, and, hopefully, something for everyone.

    • endangeredtrolls

Oooh how lucky to have seen them! I’d seen pictures in advance but I haven’t seen the physical product and I’m now SO impatient. Since Christmas essentially seems to start in October I always feel it really drags and I’m so ready for not Christmas stuff now :p

I’m glad to hear you were impressed with the pendant particularly as that’s definitely a must have for me πŸ˜€

      • Dee

Your lovely live images of Stardust Stripe make me covet it even more πŸ™‚ not only a useful bead but very beautiful as well

        • endangeredtrolls

See I’d ignored that in the preview. It was one of the beads I was referencing when I mentioned that I thought some designs were a bit too samey. It’s beautiful in person!!!

  18. Randi Madar

I actually got to see Tomas Cenius about 2 years ago when he was first trying out his monkey concepts! What a treat to see it in silver! I love them Tomas. They are truly special!!!

    • endangeredtrolls

Yep I remember the sketches oh so well πŸ™‚ I’m so pleased to see they finally came to fruition πŸ˜€

  19. Gene

Since yesterday I have decided that I definitely want the Enchanted Animal Kit, The Peacock Clasp, and the Blooming Katniss. But the absolute must have for me is the Enchanted Peacock Pendant and The Fantasy Necklace with Peacock Pearl. I’m a little surprised by how much I love that combination…I can’t even tell you when I last wore a necklace.

    • endangeredtrolls

You know though.. they’re (the fantasy necklaces) SO easy to wear. I really can’t wear full bracelets anymore. I spend so much time writing for the blog or on social media or on GLBs website that they get caught between my wrist and the desk and hurt. That’s ultimately why I love the bangles. But the fantasy necklaces can be SO striking and you just throw them on and that’s it. I know many find the chains a little pricey but once you’ve bought one that’s it and the great thing about the Peacock Pearl chain is how versatile that colour is going to be πŸ˜€

  20. Marikaisa

What about the Noble Deer for a Harry Potter Patronus and Wilderness for Hagrid’s cottage????
I love the HP feel this is giving me!!! Those are my 2 must haves for now!!!

    • endangeredtrolls

      Oooooooooooooooh nice catch!

  21. Pippa

I haven’t read anything yet, as I think it’s fun to react to the pics first.

Overall, I’m underwhelmed. But that could in part because fall was just so outstanding and I liked Christmas too.

The collection doesn’t really say “spring” to me and is more “jungle” then “forest” to me. It’s more peacock then anything else. I think peacocks are beautiful as are many of these beads but I don’t really like to dress like one. Plus there is a lot of glitter.

The silver monkeys have definite possibilities but I can’t decide yet if they a just too cute.

And I’m excited about the return of the peacock pearl but it looks like they aren’t doing a basic peacock pearl bead πŸ™

Who knows, maybe I’ll like it better when I see more pics?

    • endangeredtrolls

I agree with you regarding the colours and it’s the one reservation I guess I have. Trollbeads always release their spring collections VERY early. I will still never forget going to a release part years and years ago when there were these beach themed glass and we all had to leave early due to extremely heavy snow fall. It felt a little off. On the other hand January is such a miserable month that it’s nice to have something to look forward to. Like something *major* (and to me Trollbeads releases fall into that category.)

On the other hand if you look at the bracelet picture at the very top of the article.. that does make me think spring. The green is vibrant like new shoots. The contrast with the silver is really stark.. like winter is. So I’m kind of leaning towards it needing really good styling for those of us who prefer to dress more seasonally.

I’m thinking the Opal Jaguar and the Prehnite Peacock will be good transitional beads.. combined with some neutrals…

Anyway I’m trying to dig out more pictures and of course as soon as I get my hands on the beads I’ll share live images πŸ˜‰

      • Pippa

I do think Prehnite Peacock looks beautiful and I also so Opal Jaguar as having potenial. πŸ™‚

Looking back to the first pic does give more a sense of spring. The second glass set brings to my mind some of their more exotic Christmas Kits, particularly Illusion and the first two striped ones and it doesn’t help that it’s titled Wonderland which makes me think of winter.

It will be fun seeing the actual beads used in bracelets with the silver beads from the collection but also other beads.

Also. I’m not going to be able to resist that Peacoch Pearl Fantasy Necklace. <3

        • endangeredtrolls

You can join me with the Peacock Pearl Fantasy Necklace. That and the pendant are must haves for me.

I think… the Prehnite Peacock and the Opal Jaguar are going to be good early season pieces. If you put them with neutrals.. maybe even put a Moss Agate on there or two.. they’ll work. They have enough colour to add interest without all the pinks and brightness of some of the other beads which scream summer to me.

I’ve published some campaign images today which give more of an idea of using the beads on full bracelets <3

  22. MaLa

WOW does not describe my reaction to the Spring Release. Love all the colours and designs. Just Fantastic

    • endangeredtrolls

Beautiful isn’t it? I know some of the colours are very bright for so early in the year but ohhh the designs are so pretty! πŸ˜€
