Trollbeads Snowflake Obsidian Facet Inspiration

This Trollbeads blog brings a little inspiration for the Trollbeads Snowflake Obsidian Facet

The Trollbeads Snowflake Obsidian Facet launched a few weeks ago as the Black Friday bead for 2018 and obviously it’s a gemstone. Admittedly there is a smooth version still in circulation, albeit retired but personally I don’t like the more slender stones as much. There was also a faceted version as a very limited release years ago but it was part of kits and the beads were so scarce.

I like this choice predominantly because it feels a very cold, winter inspired stone. It also looks incredibly elegant styled with gold and brings a very versatile and timeless look.

Today I’m sharing a little bracelet inspiration for a winter inspired bracelet.

The inspiration behind this bracelet is that of a snowy forest. Think the classic scenes from Narnia with bare trees, deep snow and enchanted castles. To create the look I mixed the Snowflake Obsidian Facet with the Mountain Crystals (now retired but available here.) Some of my favourite silvers are featured, included the relatively new Ohm Beads Wood Ent (find him here.) You’ll notice the Trollbeads Air Balloon acts as a focal. I’ve always found hot air balloons so romantic and picturing one drifting over a mountain scene is the inspiration. Do note there’s a couple of the new Redbalifrog Bliss Mass beads that would be perfect here but I’ve only just received those.

We just received new stock of these beads at Great Lakes Boutique today and there’s a really nice variety. We have some of the very heavily patterned, ranging through to the predominantly black. You can find them via the link below:-

Trollbeads Snowflake Obsidian Facet Summary

I’ve heard a few mutterings that this bead didn’t feel exciting or flashy enough for Black Friday when compared with the likes of Shimmer Royal. Though I do understand that perspective, I also love this stone. Flashy beads can be very exciting but the true value of a bead for me lies with it’s longevity and I do feel this is a stone I’m going to be wearing a great deal. Incidentally I love it in combination with the Diamond Bead Amber but that combination felt a little too close to the bracelet I showed mixing it with the Steel Hematite.

I think the snowflak obsidian is a nice stone! I mixed my newer glistening faceted ones with an older retired version for a touch of variation, and a faceted onyx for deepness. I opted for a couple whiter Christmas glitter glass beads and a Blizzard to brighten things a bit – plus I like the mix of stone and glass. The silvers I sprinkled in were various brand snowmen. My inspiration and end result was the look of a quiet night sky, gently falling snow, and the snowmen enjoying the peaceful night.

I actually do find something quite peaceful about this stone 🙂 And I much prefer the new version to the older smooth one! I’m glad you’re enjoying it 🙂
