Trollbeads Shelter Review

This Trollbeads blog brings a dedicated review of the Trollbeads Shelter, part of the decorative silver beads from the fall 2017 collection.

The Trollbeads Shelter launched as part of the Trollbeads Fall 2017 collection, which ironically is now old since it’s no longer part of the newest release. It retails at $56, €48 or £45.

Through the storm, the dried poppies protect life until it is time to unfold.

I have to confess that I wasn’t sure how much I’d like this design. I originally mis-read the description and thought it was going to be a lotus head bead. I have more than a touch of trypophobia so I skimmed over the images. It’s actually a lovely, autumnal feeling design and as I’ve been wearing it on a bracelet brimming with ambers, I decided to share it today.

Trollbeads Shelter

Shelter isn’t a huge bead though it has such a strong fall theme that I’ve been treating it as a focal feature.

All of my regular readers know that autumn for me means gemstones and amber. I love the organic look for the change of seasons, especially since my Christmas bracelets tend to be so bright. This bracelet is comprised entirely by a particular type of Trollbeads amber that I affectionately refer to as “sparkling amber.” The name is pretty self explanatory. They’re honey in colour and full of inclusions that are spectacular in the sunshine or direct light.

The silvers on these bracelet are such a mix! I’ve included charms that make me think of autumn or that in some way represents aspects of the season that I love. The Ohm Beads Coffee Collection is an example. I’m also still wearing the Ohm Beads Trick or Treat as pumpkins for me span the whole season, even if carved. Two Redbalifrog Log Stoppers sit at either end and for anyone who loves nature themed bracelets these are an essential purchase. Equally the Redbalifrog Tree Branch Lock is still my favourite clasp of the year. One final note I feel needs clarifying. The carved amber rose next to Shelter is a giant version. Though it’s not the largest I’ve seen at all, it does explain why it towers over Shelter.

Trollbeads Shelter Summary

In summary Shelter isn’t a huge bead and I know some collectors have expressed repeated concern that the decorative silver pieces are generally smaller these days. That said it’s not so small that the details become lost or confusing and it is a really lovely design for the fall season.

As always I love to hear from my readers. What are your thoughts on the Trollbeads Shelter? Did you buy this bead? Is it on your wishlist? Hit the comments and let me know!

I wasn’t sure about this one, but your bracelet certainly makes it look good! It seems to be holding it’s own next to the Giant Carved Amber Rose by the way. It’s a little crazy to think that a bead from the Fall collection is “old” already…but that’s the season!

Everything becomes “old” fast in bead world and it’s such a shame. There’s always a new “must have” that people go to such lengths for and then a few weeks later they’ve lost interest and moved onto the next must have. Fall passes so fast in retail terms because Christmas begins so early 🙁

    Fabulous ambers and bracelet, Victoria!

    • endangeredtrolls

Thank you! Love me some amber 😀

Your bracelet is lovely, gives me great ideals for fall! In an unrelated question, has Perlenodense dropped Trollbeads? Have you dropped your link to Perlenodense? They used to have a lot of uniques and would hate to see them go. I also like being able to link to stores through your site because I know that you vet the links often. Thanks!

      Hi,

I know longer work with Perlen so I can’t really comment on what’s happening there.

      Sorry I’m not more help

What is the shelter bead supposed to be? It looks like some vegetables but I am not sure!

    • Lisa G

I know it looks like onions!. I think it’s supposed to be a poppy.
