Trollbeads Open Sky Inspiration

This Trollbeads blog brings a little bangle inspiration starring the upcoming Trollbeads Open Sky.

The Trollbeads Autumn 2018 collection launches globally on Friday though pre-orders began last week. I shared my own live images over the weekend and since then I’ve finally been able to play and grow to know the products a little, (new releases are always overwhelming!)

When I first saw the initial previews, I thought the Trollbeads New Adventures Kit would be my favourite. Actually so far it’s the Drift Away Kit that has stolen my heart. I’ve read a little criticism of this kit from collectors claiming they aren’t “new“. While the designs do indeed feel familiar, it’s the colours that make this kit. Individually the beads are pretty and useful. As a whole they come into their own and feel so very autumnal. I also happen to be a fan of one simple fact. They are base entry priced beads that are not limited edition. As a market we seem to be bombarded with limited editions right now and everyone feels pressured to purchase quickly rather than having time to evaluate what could work for them. I appreciate the fact that while Trollbeads dabble in the limited editions, for the most part their quantities are sufficient to allow most people to obtain one. Further to that they have remained committed to three core, seasonal releases a year that you can shop at your leisure.

Despite my appreciation of the Drift Away Kit, it’s actually the faceted Trollbeads Open Sky that is featuring here this evening.

Trollbeads Open Sky

Open Sky is I think, my favourite bead from the New Adventures Kit. At such an early stage I’m not willing to commit to an absolute favourite but this is definitely a contender. It’s a relatively simple bead in regards to it’s pattern though it does vary. Those blue stripes are to be found in such an array of shades and indeed we’ve seen a couple with almost all grey stripes.

This is a super fast bangle combination I threw together over the weekend. The vibe of Open Sky alters dramatically depending on what it’s teamed with. It will actually work beautifully on summer bracelets when combined with brighter colours and beached themed silvers. I wanted something altogether more moody so in come the Steel Hematites. Incidentally these beads are amazing and as grey is famed for, team with just about any other colour imaginable.

The new Trollbeads Witch Shoes are the focal and the Star Bangle is the chosen carrier as it’s the darkest, most oxidised option from Trollbeads.

Trollbeads Open Sky Summary

I think this is going to prove one of the more versatile beads in this kit. Then again this collection is focused a great deal on versatility of styling. If you take a look at the silvers, many are designed to be threaded in multiple ways to really allow for customisation.

As always I love to hear from my readers. What are your thoughts on the Trollbeads Open Sky? Is this bead on your wishlist? Hit the comments and let me know!

Not sure I like this as yet, maybe because I don’t have much to team it with. Just realizing that I do not have as many blues as I thought . Overloaded with Pinks Purples ,Greens and of course Smbers.
Its probably just me those Witches shoes would have been awesome and more visible on the bracelet had they been drilled the other way.

There’s always an argument either way. Campaign images show the Witch Shoes on a fantasy necklace which they’re perfectly cored for. Cored the other way they’d not work there.

I didn’t get any of these facets yet, I concentrated on the silver and stones, but I do love them and will get them all over time.

I did notice the similarity between the glass in this collection and other Trollbeads glass, but similarities within the same brand don’t bother me. It happens not just with jewelry lines, but with other art // craft forms, including writing. One of my girlfriends writes romance for Penguin. The romance genre is formula, the uniqueness of which is within the author brand; no two authors have the same voice, even if they have formulaic stories. In jewelry, what bothers me is when one brand copies another directly, and pretty much becomes the other, such as Pandora has become Thomas Sabo and lost their individuality. That to me is pathetic. Trollbeads may produce similar beads within their brand, but they’re still uniquely their own and no one can mistake their work for any other work.

It’s 2:30 AM here, so if this doesn’t make sense, I blame the hour, and the fact I have no editor. πŸ˜€

I hear you. I think some of the criticism about the the Drift Away Kit not being “new” is unfair. Trollbeads have always revisited glass designs and the irony is that some collectors have loved that over the years. Just look at how many were unhappy the first Christmas there *wasn’t* a new diamond bead.

For me that kit is about the colours and they are lovely together. They’re not what I expected, they’re a bit different for fall but they really work!

    Very nice! I love it!
(Just a tad jealous that you get to spend so much time with the new beads. Lol!)

Aaaah trust me right now bead play is very very limited. We’re just so busy I don’t think any of us are getting the bead time we’d like. On the other hand I do have the best job in the world so you can be a bit jealous πŸ˜‰

After the amazing fall beads of last year I was a bit disappointed, the only glass bead that came home with me was the Open Sky and I love it.
It will get a place on my beach bracelet, it’s so cheerful!

I’m sorry to hear that you were disappointed πŸ™
