Trollbeads Northern Lights Magic

This Trollbeads blog brings a complete review of the upcoming Trollbeads Northern Lights Magic, winner of the People’s Bead 2018 event.

Last night saw pre-orders for the Trollbeads Northern Lights Magic begin, ahead of the global release on Friday September the 7th. This is the design the community voted as the winner of the People’s Bead 2018 event and the bead is stunning.

There was a slightly change of date for the live image pre-orders for the US market yesterday and that caught me a little off guard. Although I did share some live images to support the pre-orders, I’ve now had time to compile a few more.

Trollbeads Northern Lights Magic

Predictably there’s been much talk centred around this bead since live images began to appear. One topic of focus has been the purple glass overlay. I have to say I think people are perhaps overestimating how much they’ll actually see this when wearing the bead. Predominantly this is a green and blue bead and the top layer is only visible from certain angles. Indeed in profile, the glass looks clear.

To see the top layer you need the light coming in from a certain angle. You can catch it on two of the images below but not the third. Essentially when choosing your beads the focus should be on the amount of blue and green to suit your own tastes.

It’s impossible to not draw comparisons with Wishful Sky. The colour of Northern Lights Magic is far darker but the sparkle is very similar. Those bright blue flashes from Wishful Sky are replaced with the blue and greens for Northern Lights but the two are beautiful together. In the images below you can see Northern Lights Magic, Shimmer Royal and Wishful Sky together. Do remember the latter two are limited editions.

This bead is so easy to style and I’m wearing a super simple bangle combination. I actually have it stacked with a dark emerald which works beautifully.

Trollbeads Northern Lights Magic Pre-Orders

Pre-orders have started but remember again that the release isn’t until Friday. You can find the bead at my retail partners below and those selling from live images are marked with a *.

Trollbeads Northern Lights Magic Summary

If you were a fan of the Trollbeads Wishful Sky Bracelet, I think it’s a safe assumption that you’ll like Northern Lights Magic. They feel related. I’d like to stress again that this bead is not a limited edition.

As always I love to hear from my readers. What are your thoughts on the Trollbeads Northern Lights Magic and have you pre-ordered? Hit the comments and let me know!

Ooh lovely. I was going to buy a bottle of perfume this month but I think I’m just going to be smelling of good ole soap and water instead πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ and buying the bead 😍

      It’s a really really lovely bead πŸ˜€

Beautiful! I’m trying to decide if I like it better with Shimmer Royal or Wishful Sky and having a hard time making up my mind. Thanks for the comparison shots. And while your studio shots are breathtaking I am curious to see what it looks like in more normal light. Thanks as ever for the lovely photos.

I turned down the vibrancy for GLB’s live shots πŸ˜› What was rolling off the camera was amazing but I actually opted to tone it down.

Of course everything depends on lighting. I’m sat in a dim bedroom right now looking at them and they look quite dark. When I was having coffee in the sunshine earlier they were dazzling.

      • Kim

I was very tempted looking at GLB, but think I’ll wait a bit in the hopes of seeing them in person. I’m still hoping to get down to Bead Bash at least for a day, but there’s a lot up in the air right now. If I do make it down, I imagine you’ll be well stocked up! πŸ˜€

Very beautiful. I was hoping the purple would stand out and be more noticeable?

    • endangeredtrolls

Not in my opinion. I’ve had them on my wrist all day. You catch glimpses of the overlay at certain angles. Usually in dimmer light ironically. In bright light or daylight they look like blue and green beads.

      • Ashley Durden

Thank you, still beautiful. I’d have to see it in person to decide. Can’t wait to see the fall preview later in the week!

@ Ashley my two have gorgeous Purple, Blue ,Green and a tiny bit of yellow and a Tourquoise flash and pairs well with Wishful Sky.

Personally prefer this bead with Silver as it is more reflective and makes the Purple and Blue under tone pop .IMO if what you want is to bring out the Greens and Yrllows then pairing it with Gold is perfect.
No matter did not think I would like it as much as I do but only drawback is that I have to get a couple more . Again IMO though a strong bead it is even better in multiples.
      @Victoria,
      Awesome photography.

Mine ( lucky me I’ve got one already) has a deep shiny purple overlay that’s visible from all sides you look at, it has green, blue and also some small yellow splashes, simply stunning! It’s the purple overlay and the yellow splashes that makes the green and blue come alive.
I think it will go stunning with the Shimmer Royal and Amethyst and then a few πŸ˜‹ gold beads !
