Trollbeads Christmas 2017 Live Images

This Trollbeads blog brings a live image showcase of the Trollbeads Christmas 2017 collection.

Pre-orders for the Trollbeads Christmas 2017 collection have now started globally, though the official release date is Friday November the 3rd. The release consists of one limited edition glass kit, six silver beads, three decorative spacers, a pendant, two new rings and new variations of the twisted bangle and neck bangle. We’re also seeing new unique kits, split into two categories; the Trollbeads Christmas Glitter Kits and the Trollbeads Colourful Christmas Kits. It’s a strong release that mixes elements of a classic, vintage Christmas with cute motifs and bright colours with very elegant and timeless aspects. Indeed it’s officially marketed as the Trollbeads Nostalgia collection.

I always try to time my own live images to either coincide with pre-orders or the actual launch and today I’m sharing those. As a side note I’ll be featuring the new Trollbeads Wishful Sky Bracelet either later today or tomorrow as I think it’s deserving of it’s own editorial. Do note however I haven’t seen a huge amount of difference in the glass beads so you’re safe to shop stock images for these.

I have to confess I’ve fall utterly in love with the Trollbeads Winter Forest Kit. It’s a limited edition set retailing at $276, €252 or £240. The decision to split the kit is at the discretion of the retailers though personally I feel it’s strong enough to warrant purchase in it’s entirety. Obviously the highlights for many will be the reindeer and owl designs and they are both adorable. The designs seem consistent and I haven’t seen any poorly executed beads. They’re also what I’d describe as a standard size for Trollbeads glass.

The glass is the strongest aspect for the release for me though I always appreciate new decorative spacers. The absolute highlight of the silver beads for me personally is the Trollbeads Guiding Star. I love star motifs anyway and it’s openwork design means it works very well with the new gold plated pieces. You can create that fabulous duo-tone look that many of us covet. It’s not a huge bead but it is lovely and it retails at $31, €28 or £30. Do note that it also acts as a splitter for your fantasy necklaces.

The Trollbeads Inside Love is another design that accentuates the gold plated pieces but I really do feel we have a lot of heart motifs in the line at present. That said I suspect they’re also consistently popular at Christmas time. It’s retailing at $31, €28 or £30.

The Trollbeads Curious Critter feels a little out of place for me. The stock image reminded me of the birds from Angry Birds but I’m seeing it less in the actual bead. It’s retailing at $46, €42 or £40.

The Trollbeads Abundance is a slightly larger bead that I think will hold appeal for both Christmas and Thanksgiving. It uses the same floral motif as the Christmas Rose so if you liked that design, this should appeal too. It’s retailing at $56, €51 or £50.

Meanwhile the Trollbeads Endless Impact is very reminiscent of the existing Birds of a Feather (and I’ve pictured that underneath for reference.) It’s retailing at $31, €28 or £30.

The largest of the new beads is the Trollbeads Momentum and I actually like this design more than I assumed I would. It didn’t capture my attention in the stock images but there’s something quite celestial feeling about it in “person“. It would make a great comet on a space themed bracelet. It’s retailing at $63, €58 or £55.

Moving onto the spacers we have three new decorative designs. To clarify once again stoppers were renamed to spacers last year. They still function the same; they hold beads tight on your bracelet. All three of the new spacers do seem to sit tightly on the bracelets and bangles.

The Trollbeads Grateful Turkey can obviously work for both Thanksgiving and Christmas (though I’m wondering what the poor soul has to be grateful about on either occasion.) It’s retailing at $46, €42 or £45. It is very cute and I suspect we’re going to see some amazing Thanksgiving combinations with this little guy.

The Trollbeads Generous Piglet is such a close resemblance to the retired Pig that many who have coveted the bead should be super happy. It’s retailing at $46, €42 or £45. Do note the curly tail detailing.

Lastly is the new Trollbeads Nut Spacer and I’m hoping to get my hands on a few more of these as I suspect it could help form the basis of quite contemporary combinations. It’s also retailing at $46, €42 or £45.

The new pendant is the Trollbeads Wish! Pendant and it’s designed for the interchangeable fantasy necklace. That said just like the other pendants, it is compatible with the bangles or bracelets. It’s retailing at $70, €63 or £60 and is truly lovely.

I will say that most of the silvers this time around are a little on the smaller size. You can see a group image below.

The two new gold plated pieces are the Trollbeads Gold Plated Twisted Bangle and the Trollbeads Gold Plated Neck Bangle. I know people are often suspicious of plated jewellery. As was I prior to the release of the original gold plated bangle. As I’ve mentioned elsewhere however I actually had that quite a while in advance of it’s launch, making it nearly four years old. It does have surface scratches, just as my silver bangles do. There is absolutely no sign of wear of the plating however. Considering I wear it daily and it receives friction from adding and removing spacer, I’ve been very impressed with it.

The Trollbeads Gold Plated Twisted Bangle is identical in every other way to the Twisted Bangle in the silver. It has more flex than the smooth bangle and they do look thinner to the eye. It’s retailing at $210, €190 or £200. Gold plated jewellery always looks slightly different in colour to solid gold, at least to my eyes but the pricing difference makes this an excellent option.

Now to the Trollbeads Gold Plated Neck Bangle. This looks spectacular in person and ironically the plated finish looks less off in colour to me. I’ve always had somewhat of a love hate relationship with the neck bangle. I wanted it to fit like a choker and it just doesn’t. You can get it a little tighter than the campaign images show by flexing it at the rear but it’s not a choker fit. This isn’t Trollbeads fault and they never marketed it as a choker. On the other hand it looks so beautiful in the gold that I’m going to make a concerted effort to try it again. Incidentally due to some new toys I’m soon going to be returning to streaming and hopefully with a more frequent schedule so perhaps you’ll be able to check it out there. It’s retailing at $590, €536 or £500.

Trollbeads Christmas 2017 Uniques

There’s been some confusion within the community regarding the Trollbeads Glitter Kit and Trollbeads Colourful Christmas Kit. Once again these are not limited edition sets. They are new uniques so the beads within are not consistent. Thanks to Great Lakes I’ve actually had the chance to play with some of them this time where as generally speaking it’s been years since I’ve had my hands on uniques. Below I’m sharing the images of the kits they’ll be listing.

Trollbeads Christmas 2017 Pre-Orders

As mentioned pre-orders have already started and to save you the trouble of checking the other post, I’m sharing them again here. Once again do please remember that the release date is not until November the 3rd so please don’t start emailing your retailers demanding to know why they aren’t shipping immediately today.

Trollbeads Christmas 2017 Summary

Overall I love this release but I feel the glass is stronger than the silver beads. I adore the timeless mix of gold and silver and for that reason, I just want to share one of the campaign images again below.

In regards to the unique kits, the Christmas Glitter Kits are amazing. The Colourful Christmas Kits feel very similar to uniques from years past and that’s a shame. For some people it will be good news as you have another chance at finding them. For veteran collectors they’re likely to feel too familiar.

Overall it’s a beautiful release. Since it does feature some gold plated pieces, do remember that the Trollbeads Gold Campaign is still running until the end of the year. Spends of $500 or €500 on a single bead qualify for a free bracelet and Soft Wind of Change Lock or a free silver bangle and two silver spacers. It’s a really nice offer and the new Lovesome Spacer is just over the minimum spend required.

As always I love to hear from my readers. What are your thoughts on the Trollbeads Christmas 2017 collection? Will you be pre-ordering and if so, which pieces? Hit the comments and let me know!

And how am I going to choose from all this….. ?😳 But of course then there still is always something more to ask for, so wouldn’t it be nice if we could choose a gold (-plated) ring of change? It seems logical, to accompany the bangles.

  2. Kim

I’ve always enjoyed the holiday release. I live the season and bright jewel tones are right up my alley. The glass this year certainly doesn’t disappoint. The glitter kits have some spectacular designs. I’ve mostly stopped buying uniques because I have so many, but must admit I’m tempted. As you say, the designs in the colorful kits aren’t new, but they’re still fun festive designs. The Winter Forest kit is very nice. I pre-ordered the owl, which is adorable. Though it greatly annoyed me that I had to check seven or eight websites before I found someone who was splitting the kits. I understand why retailers do it, but it never fails to piss me off as a customer to be told I have to spend a big wad of cash buying expensive products I don’t want just to get the one bead I do want.

    • endangeredtrolls

I understand the issue with the kits completely. Unfortunately until retailers are permitted to purchase beads on an individual basis themselves, I don’t see anything changing 🙁 We all know that stores could sell hundreds of the owls and reindeers but then they need to move hundreds of the others too or they’re left with stock. It’s a tricky situation :'(

I do agree that the glass is the absolute highlight this time though! 😀

      xoxo

      • Kim

Oh yes, I do see the retailers’ perspective too, and I sympathize. It’s the same issue that’s been there for years with the uniques. The retailers got stuck with so many clunker beads they couldn’t sell. The problem is definitely with Trollbeads’ distribution. It’s just a shame that it ultimately gets passed down to the customer. If I hadn’t found a store that split the kits, I wouldn’t have ponied up for a full kit, and nor would I have paid exorbitant secondary market prices. I’ve been around the block, so to speak, too much to put up with that. So I would have been left unhappy and gnashing my teeth.

        • endangeredtrolls

Ohhh yeah. You know we’re going to see a small flood of reindeers and owls on Ebay 🙁 Or in the groups as it tends to be more these days :'(

  3. Marie

Lol… the Curious Critter reminds me a bit in the stock image of the cute little, shiny trinket-collecting Niffler from ‘Curious Creatures and Where to Find Them’. I like many of the silvers in this release, particularly Curious Critter, Abundance and Guiding Star, and all of the spacers! Ahh, the wishlist grows again.

    • endangeredtrolls

Those wishlists!!! 😉 And when you consider too that spacers really should be purchased in pairs, it just gets worse 😀

  4. Pippa

I really like so much from this release, fortunately not quite as much the fall though 🙂
Though I still indulged in a lot!

I stayed up to midnight to grab my few must haves from the glitter and colorful unique kits and couldn’t resist getting a Winter Forest Kit to be sure to get the critters. I have mixed feelings about the purchase – I’m really excited to get the adorable critters but they come at a very high price. I don’t like the way Trollbeads handles releases like this. I think the critters should be sold individually at a higher price then typical uniques or may in mini-kits of 3. The other beads should be then just rolled into the colorfull kits. Another choice would be to let retailers break up kits and charge different prices for different beads – maybe within some proscribed range.

I also got the my favorite two silvers from the collection, Guiding Star, and Momentum which I love and think it will be a great bead year round!

And I grabbed one of the new “starter” bracelets. The bead looks stunning and I’m thinking of getting another bangle just to get a second.

But the bangles have bit of a struggle for me size-wise. I can’t decide if they really fit me right. If I go up they don’t feel right, too much movement, and when I go down, they look too small, althought they feel fine. I’m not sure if my wrists just don’t work with bangles, LOL. (Yesterday, my new Ohm bangle arrived – this time a medium, as the large was way to big – it seemed to fit and I was excited to try it out. (I love the idea of quicky bracelets with one to five beads plus stoppers – one of the reasons I’m so interested in bangles.) So I but on Weeping Warrior with stoppers and it fit and looked good. But it kept irritating my wrist – it turns out the Ohm bangles aren’t solid like Trollbeads but rolled sheets so there is a tiny seam and that and maybe the clasp with Ohm dangle was irratating my skin. I can still “feel” it on the inside of my wrist.)

Wow – sorry that was a bloggy tangent.

Back to topic – what is everyone’s favorite glass?
    Mine:
    – the three critters in the forest kit
    – from the colorful kit the blue snow flake and the solid blue with white and/or yellow stars
    – from the glitter kits the one which is clear/white with bumps that are clear with just a faint glitter over white (some have more glitter, an example of my favorite is the 2nd bead from the left in the 4th glitter photo from the top.)

I really like the holly beads but cant’t decide which I like the best. And my list may grow as I look at the again and also see what others do with them. Victoria is bound to make at least one bracelet that will having me want one I hadn’t really noticed. 🙂

    • endangeredtrolls

I think you chose the best of the two silver beads for what it’s worth 😉 Guiding Star is so pretty and Momentum is much nicer in person than I thought!

I understand everyone’s upset over the Winter Forest Kit. For retailers it’s like being stuck between a rock and a hard place, so to speak 😛 Everyone wants the two critters of course and retailers do want to make their customers happy. On the other hand knowing you could sell hundreds of critters and then wondering what to do with the rest of the kit is worrying 🙁 I love the little green and white trees and the heart too but they still would never be in the same demand as the critters will. Ideally we’d need Trollbeads to permit retailers to purchase the beads individually and then they could pass that onto the collectors. Alternatively I guess.. Trollbeads need to work on equalising the designs within the kits so we don’t have this situation.

The bangles should sit quite tight to your wrist. I see a lot of ladies actually wearing bangles that are too large, either because they just automatically ordered a medium (cause it sounds right) or because they found the smaller sizes difficult to put on. The opening on the Trollbeads bangles are quite small – I assume to ensure they can’t fall off – but they should take a little wiggling to get on. I wear an XS in the bangles and then anything between a 17 or 18 cm bracelet.

The Wishful Sky Bracelet is lovely and I’d consider it very safe to order from stock images. I’ve seen so little difference in the actual glass bead 😀

      • Ilse

There is something I don’t understand about the sizes of the Trollbeads bangles. Between size XS and S there is a relatively large difference in the size of the opening. I need S because the XS opening is really too small for me, but I think XS would actually be better for me if only the opening was just a little bit larger. The logic behind this is a mystery to me. (Sizes: opening XS is 2 mm larger than XXS, opening S is 7 mm larger than XS, opening M is 4 mm larger than S, opening L is 3 mm larger than M.) Am I the only one who thinks this is weird?

  5. Gene

I love the look of the Generous Piglet spacer. As you say it looks like the retired Pig, which I love by the way but know I’ll never get. There are scattered beads that I like in the different kits but not enough to buy the entire set. The owl and reindeer would be my favorites.

  6. Nereida

You! I purchased my first kit ever. I couldn’t resist those critters though I had to sell a bead to make it happen. Too many gorgeous Christmas beads. I need more arms.

    • endangeredtrolls

For what it’s worth – and I *know* everyone is going to say “easy for you to say..” I would have bought this kit. The two critters are adorable, we all know that. But actually the little green and cream Christmas tree is *lovely* and I do like the heart and the snowflake too. The only bead I’m not keen on – or rather not bothered by – is the green and red petals design. Considering when you buy a kit you do get one bead free, I’m okay with that. So for me.. three of the kit are “must haves,” two are really lovely and that leaves one I wouldn’t have considered on it’s own.

      Just my take 🙂

      • Maria

The green and red petals complete the christmas tree, just sentiment 🙂
I was lucky to see and get the kit today and they go so well together, it’s al there and the ice on the cake is the silver turkey or pig stopper. I think this is a fantastic Christmas release, I’m happy with my purchases.

( it will be beans on toast for a while and I might get jealous on the delicious meals my cat demands )

        😊

  7. Penny

There seems to be a price rise of £5 stg. on the beads. Is this correct? – Group 1 silver in UK was £25 I see that the Christmas beads are £30. Then £35 group 2 are now £40 and so on. Is this just this collection or is this a general thing from now on does anyone know?

    • endangeredtrolls

I haven’t heard anything about a price increase I have to confess, though nor do I work with Trollbeads UK.

      • Penny

I guess it will become apparent when they launch their spring season in UK and whether it has the same prices.

  8. Fee

I love that not so grateful turkey! But in a way of being so cute and not for my dinner. I want it in gold haha.

    • endangeredtrolls

Do remember you can have any bead custom made in gold 🙂 So it’s perfectly possible 🙂
