Svane & Luhrs Jungle Bracelet Review

Following the recent introduction of Danish brand Svane & Luhrs to Endangered Trolls, this charm jewellery blog brings a dedicated review of the Svane & Luhrs Jungle Bracelet.

Danish brand Svane & Luhrs boast a positively enormous selection of leather bracelets. When first offered the opportunity to work with this brand, I’ll admit being a little intimidated by the choice available.

Fortunately the lovely team offered to style a bracelet for me which left me eagerly awaiting the end result. That said I’m always a little nervous when someone is styling for me. My tastes run to the more gothic and flowers and pastels generally don’t suit my style. I was thrilled with the bracelet I received. The bracelet featured here is the Svane & Luhrs Jungle Bracelet, shiny new and neither released nor featured on their website yet.

This bracelet closely resembles a snakeskin effect though infact it’s made of leather. It’s a very heavily textured effect with beautiful contrasting which I simply adored. Where snakeskin is often quite stiff to wear, this bracelet is super soft and comfortable.

The brand use the popular magnetic locking system which I’m a huge fan of. It makes fastening the bracelet super easy without any help. This particular bracelet has cubic zirconia detailing on the lock and actually, this is a beautiful focal feature. While the range of charms is lovely and I’ve been impressed with the three I received, the detailed lock negates the need to invest immediately as it almost resembles a tube charm in it’s own right.

I’ve always speculated that the Story by Kranz & Ziegler bracelets had an inner core to prevent stretching. Svane & Luhrs were kind enough to confirm that theirs certainly do. The bracelets are slightly thinner than the Story versions, as the image below shows.

Svane & Luhrs Summary

I’m a huge fan of leather bracelets. They’re easy to wear, lighter than silver and of course, can be coordinated to match any given outfit or trend. Obviously the leather wrap charm bracelet isn’t a new concept and there’s plenty of competition out there. For me what sets Svane & Luhrs apart is the sheer enormity of choice, particularly in regards to their bracelets. Often I wear leather bracelets free of charms entirely and focus on collecting a large selection to ensure I can accessorise my outfits well. Indeed my wishlist for this brand is already reaching typically staggering proportions.

Love it. Want it. Need it πŸ˜‰

Do you know when the Jungle bracelet will be available?

Last I spoke to them, they needed to get it photographed to list on the website so I don’t think it should be *too* far off sale.

I did warn you that you’d like this! πŸ˜‰

I don’t normally like leather jewelry, but these have caught my attention now. πŸ™‚ I really like the look of your jungle bracelet, and was just over browsing their website. I like that they are thinner bracelets as well. My wrists are rather small, and I think a bracelet the size of the Story ones would over-power my wrist. I like the color choice available too, and could actually maybe see myself wearing one with some casual summer clothes. I’ll have to give this one some serious consideration. πŸ™‚

    • endangeredtrolls

There is a huge selection of colours for these bracelets which is great news πŸ™‚ I just have the one bracelet at the moment and three charms which I’ll feature separately but I’m definitely impressed so far πŸ™‚

I understand the issue with bracelets overpowering a small wrist. It’s quite odd that many people are acutely aware of what clothes suit their body shape but don’t realise the same applies for jewellery. Yellow gold doesn’t look great against my skin for example. I’m too pale and with the wrong coloured undertones it seems. It’s a little the same with rings. Shorter fingers don’t look right with big chunky rings, they make the digits look even shorter than they are where a slender ring can elongate.

My wrists are quite small – though I seem to remember they aren’t anywhere near as small as yours and this brand seems to work well for me πŸ™‚

My wrists are about 6 inches (15 cm), and you are so right about having to be mindful of finding jewelry that fits as well. πŸ™‚ I’ve seen many bracelets that I liked, but when I tried them on, they were just too large and didn’t look right. Same with rings – I’m quite sad that none of the Trollbeads rings work for me, because I think several of the designs are quite pretty. But I’ve tried them on, and they’re just too big for me.
While we’re on the topic of leather bracelets, that reminded me that I liked ByBiehl as well, and so I was just over browsing their website too. It’s a jewelry-browsing morning for me! πŸ˜‰ Those don’t seem like they would over-power my wrist, and I quite like many of their pods. Decisions, decisions.

        • endangeredtrolls

Yes that’s right, I remember them being smaller than mine! There’s just no point in wearing something that looks silly on you, thought it can be saddening at times πŸ™

I’m quite lucky with rings, I have very long fingers. On the other hand yellow gold doesn’t look right on me πŸ™

You’d be fine with ByBiehl! I’m in a 17 cm bracelet so a bit larger than you but they’re in no way overpowering! They’re still one of my favourite brands πŸ™‚

Oooh, I really need to stop visiting here I think, it seems that every time I come my wish list grows a bit longer! Or I need to find a money tree. Yes, yes, I think I will do that instead, as I would miss seeing all your beautiful combinations if I stopped coming here!

I love the mottled look of this and the varying pattern. Like you, I prefer to wear my leathers fairly sparsly decorated, but love that this has so much interest just on its own! I may be lusting a bit after the multi-strand bracelet that they have as well …. and they have an option for an oxidized silver lock too …. I may be in trouble!

    • endangeredtrolls

I honestly don’t think this needs any additional charms, which is great news for anyone looking to indulge in the brand. The charms are lovely of course but they’re something you can always get to later if you so choose. Sometimes as well, if you’re stacking with say, a Trollbeads bracelet, I think leather alone is nicer than yet more charms πŸ˜‰ It can start to look a bit overpowering quite quickly.

    Hi Victoria,

I’ve been regularly checking the S&L website and I see that the jungle bracelet is now listed. Having revisited this article. I see that the lovely people at Svane and Luhrs have also left an update here πŸ™‚

I want to order but would like your advice on sizing. It seems that I can order it in a range of sizes, which is very helpful. My wrist measures 16.5cm and I want the bracelet to wrap 3 times. Also, is your bracelet the version with the oxidised silver clasp?

Thanks in advance for your help πŸ™‚

    /hugs

    Hi Debbie,

I just want to mention that we have a size guide right here: http://svane-luhrs.com/side11978.html. The easiest thing is to take a cord, which is similar to a leather bracelet and wrap it around your wrist – and then measure it. It really depends on how tight you would like the bracelet to be. I hope that this was a little help πŸ™‚

Best regards – Heidi, Svane & LΓΌhrs

    Hi Heidi,

Thanks for the info, I looked at the sizing info and I think I will go with the same size as my Story bracelet as that fits ok. I’m not sure if your bracelets are thinner, as you list a medium for a 3 wrap as 54cm, whereas my Story medium is 57cm. Sorry to compare to a competitor but I wanted to check. If Victoria reads this post perhaps she could comment as she has both brands.

    Thank you πŸ™‚

    • endangeredtrolls

Okay so mine measures a total length of 52 cms and wraps three times around. It’s an absolutely perfect fit for me (normally in 17-18 cm Trollbeads). There’s room for charms but it’s not loose and liable to catch on anything. It doesn’t strangle my wrist but nor does it annoy by gathering just above my hand.

From their size guide page that seems to be putting me in a small.. which sounds right.. I’m certainly in an XS / S Trollbeads Bangle.

The lock on mine is the darker version which looks FABULOUS with the dark snake effect!

Any further questions just let me know πŸ˜€

      /hugs

  8. Debbie

Thanks Victoria, how does yours compare size-wise with your Story leathers? I’m not sure whether to order the 54cm or go a bit bigger? My TB bangle is S which is a tad big but I squeezed the gap in to make it fit. I think the XS is too small. My byBiehl is 19cm.

    /hugs

    • endangeredtrolls

My ByBiehl is 18 cms and that fits well. I’m pretty sure my actual Story size is the small – but I have a few mediums as samples and honestly, they kinda drown me. Absolutely wearable but clearly large πŸ˜› Are you planning on putting charms on it or keeping it quite clean? I must admit I get really annoyed if stuff flaps around on my wrist so I tend to order small with leather. I think I’d go 54. You seem to be one up from me in most brands so if I’m 52 it seems apt you’d be in 54? UNLESS you want it really loose and slouchy, in that case go up one as I’d say mine is a neat fit.

      /hugs
