Pandora Essence Collection Due for Autumn Winter 2013

This Pandora jewellery blog article gathers together the snippets of information known about the upcoming Pandora Essence Collection, due for quarter four unveiling.

Early in 2013 Pandora registered a new trademark; Pandora Essence Collection. I remember it piquing my interest at the time but I’ll admit it soon slipped my mind. In recent weeks there have been rumours circulating as to a new concept set to debut from Pandora. Pandora are guarding this collection with the same secretive diligence as the X by Trollbeads line. Both concept store staff and many of those working at larger retail outlets have signed non-disclosure agreements, so needless to say information is scarce. Nevertheless what follows is a compilation of the current rumours surrounding the Pandora Essence Collection. Please keep in mind most of this information is hearsay at present due to the strict NDAs employed.

Pandora Essence Collection

Concept stores are expecting the unveiling of the Pandora Essence Collection to take place in October or November, making it perfectly positioned for the festive season. Some rumours suggest that independent retailers aren’t set to receive this collection until early 2014 but this is absolutely unconfirmed.

It seems likely this release encompasses a new bracelet concept with a much more slender design. It’s been suggested these bracelets are similar to the Tiffany’s wire bracelets (or indeed the Alex and Ani concept.)

Due to this it’s expected that existing Pandora charms will not be compatible with this new line. Rather in addition to the bracelet will come a new line of charms designed exclusively for the Pandora Essence concept.

The fact the line is unlikely to be compatible with existing Pandora charms will undoubtedly be a contentious issue among fans (much like the X by Trollbeads concept moving away from the beads will be.) That aside I’m incredibly enthusiastic to see something new from Pandora.

As always I love to hear from my readers. What are your thoughts on the initial snippets of information pertaining to the Pandora Essence Collection? Should this information prove correct, is it something that will interest you? Alternatively are you strongly against the suspected incompatibility between lines? Have you heard any rumours yourself regarding this new series? Hit the comments and let me know!

Is this to be released in Australia? I’m excited, broke but excited

    • endangeredtrolls

Pretty certain it’s going to be a global release but it might see a staggered launch as most of the collections seem to. Also very likely that the concept stores will receive if before general retailers.

There’s not a lot known about it at present. Concept store employees and those in larger retail outlets (which I presume will therefore be stocking it) have all signed non-disclosure agreements. Suddenly leaking information is a whole new level of serious πŸ™

I think all collectors are feeling the stress of not enough money this season. The collections have all been of such a high standard I think

      Kind Regards

  2. Carolyn

Would love to see a lock and bracelet concept like Trollbeads and Redbalifrog! πŸ™‚

    • endangeredtrolls

      Hi Carolyn πŸ™‚

Firstly welcome to my blog and thanks for commenting πŸ™‚ Certainly an interesting idea! By all accounts the bracelet is going to be super slender (as the Tiffanys bracelet pictured) but I’ve heard zero details about anything as specific as the clasp πŸ™‚

Pandora are doing a very good job at keeping the details hidden (which makes it exciting I think!)

Does the lack of compatibility with the older charms bother you? I admit I don’t mind it. I like new concepts. But I have a feeling some Pandora collectors might be angry πŸ™

      Kind Regards

      • Carolyn

I love the new idea. I’m currently branching out from Pandora, as their releases, I find follow specific tastes. I love Story, Trollbeads and Novobeads for their unique and different trends including punk, etc. I love gothic and that’s something Pandora may never release. But that’s fine with me. I’m really looking forward to the surprise πŸ™‚

        • endangeredtrolls

My own tastes are a tad gothic. I tend to wear a lot of black, a lot of leather and faux furs in winter.. love biker boots, skinny jeans and pieces with lots of studs or heavy duty zip work. So I have kind of the same issue. Twinning those outfits with brightly coloured charm bracelets just doesn’t always work right? My day to day Pandora bracelet is here –

I’ve opted for black pave, studded clips and a couple of dangles like the feather and the dragon. The inclusion of the pave heart might seem weird, but it just looks “right” for me. Anyway I completely get where you’re coming from. I’m a huge fan of Kranz & Ziegler for this reason. ByBiehl also offer some great gothic and rock-chic pieces.

I don’t think the new Pandora Essence line will be particularly gothic. That said, if they are indeed fine bracelets like the Tiffanys version pictured, there’s a lot of potential for stacking. (And it’s worth noting this is coming back as a really strong trend for SS2014! Indeed probably more than ever before.)

You may, however, find some interest in X by Trollbeads. I can’t show images or expand on details of that but I’m Tweeting live from the release party tomorrow and will hopefully be publishing my own images tomorrow evening. You may just find something appealing there πŸ˜‰

          Kind Regards

  3. Faye

It looks to me like an Alex & Ani attempt to break into that customer base.
I’m more tempted by the Kranz Ziegler Story jewelery I think. Especially wanting that red snakeskin bracelet they make.

    • endangeredtrolls

      Hi my lovely πŸ™‚

Certainly the thin stackable bangles are a huge thing right now. If the rumours prove true, the charms won’t move around on the bracelet. Yet nothing implies they’re actually “fixed” in place or can’t be changed – not really sure how that will work but it’s intriguing!

I’m a huuuuge fan of Kranz & Ziegler so I’m possibly bias here (particularly since I haven’t seen the Pandora Essence Collection.) Kranz & Ziegler’s edgier and more gothic designs appeal to me more and they suit my clothes. That said, I’ll probably end up adoring the new Pandora concept when it arrives πŸ˜‰

Judging by what I’ve seen at London Fashion Week, stacked bracelets are HUGE for SS2014 – even more so than they have been in recent years – and the more dramatic the better. As I discussed in the Chlobo article, the key to stacking is always differing textures and sizes rather than just piling traditional charm bracelets onto one wrist (which I admit I don’t think looks good.) Maybe this is precisely the market Pandora are edging their way into!

  4. Cheryl

Looking forward to this release and the Kranz&Ziegler’s release. Love the tube charms! Oh dear everything gets better and better!

    • Faye

I too am smitten by the Kranz & Ziegler tube charms and those yummy buttery wrap bracelets! I found an online retailer in US I can order from. Even if I only get one starter bracelet for now with one bead, that red snakeskin is in my future for sure!! Story is a very interesting new line for me to discover…

  5. Cheryl

Where is the US dealer located. Closer for me too.

  6. CharmWhore

It’s not a bangle, but a thin extremely flexible bracelet. It has a more youthful (not young) look that I think many will love! Has a small yet not limited selection of “Beads”(they’re not really charms?) that are beautiful, meaningful and nicely detailed. I think the bracelet will appeal to a more fashion conscious buyer.

    • endangeredtrolls

Thank you SO very much for this! When we were talking very thin bracelets, I assumed they would go the direction of the Tiffanys style wire bracelet so it’s fascinating to hear it’s still flexible.

Is it true that the beads don’t move on the bracelet? That was one rumour I heard but I can’t quite visualise how they’re managing to execute that.

This is absolutely fabulous news! Charm bracelets have drifted in and out of fashion for quite some years but it’s great to hear this has the potential of really hitting the fashion conscious ladies. Ooooh I’m so excited!

How kind of you πŸ™‚ Thank you so so much πŸ™‚

      Kind Regards

      • CharmWhore

Can you move the beads yes, will they move while wearing the bracelet nope! And it’s actually really simple how they accomplished this… Be on the look out in early November!

  7. Debbie

    Hi Victoria,

I personally would like to see Pandora launching a new range that is different to the existing charm bracelet. Therefore liking the sound of thin, flexible bracelet/bangle system πŸ™‚

I’ve found myself getting a bit bored with my charm bracelets over the summer (both Pandora and Trollbeads), and so have been wearing stacked bangles and I really like that as a look, and I find them more comfortable to wear as well. Like you I think that stacked charm bracelets can end up looking a bit cheap πŸ™ and of course they are heavy and cumbersome to wear as well.

My two favourite looks at the moment are either byBiehl bangles plus leather or silver bracelet, OR Pandora bangles. I really fell in love with the new Pandora bangle and have 3 of them! They look great stacked together, especially without any charms on them.

    • endangeredtrolls

It’s so nice to see you back, I’ve been wondering where you went!

What seems to be known about Pandora Essence right now:-

      1/ October / November launch.
2/ Far thinner bracelet but remaining flexible – so not like the Tiffany wire bangles.
3/ Still uses beads but these are smaller and Essence won’t be compatible with the original Pandora concept.
4/ The beads won’t move around when worn.
5/ They can be removed from the bracelet though – unlike the Alex and Ani or Chlobo concepts.

I really don’t like stacked charm bracelets. Actually, I think sometimes it doesn’t look bad with Pandora depending on the bracelet (I’d avoid glass) but I think Trollbeads do not look good. If you want a contemporary look there’s no doubt the way to go is with bangles, thinner bracelets and a real mix of textures and finishes.

Bit jealous of your multiple Pandora bangles!

  8. Debbie

    Hi Victoria,

Thank you. It’s good to be back πŸ™‚ I think I mentioned earlier in the summer that I was spending time getting fit – and I got rather consumed by it! The good news is that I can again fit in my size 12 jeans – and am no longer the fat blobby thing I was!

I’m scaling down the exercise regime a bit, so hopefully it’s now about maintaining my current weight and not falling back into bad habits πŸ™

Ahhh those Pandora bangles πŸ™‚ I started wearing one with a Pandora bracelet and didn’t like the look, and it felt a bit bare wearing just the bangle. I also couldn’t really get on with charms on it, so I rearranged my bead budget and bought another two πŸ˜‰ That’s probably one of the reasons I haven’t managed to get a third byBiehl bangle. Although the Pandora are easier to wear stacked than the byBiehl as they don’t clank around and are much lighter.

    • endangeredtrolls

Been there too πŸ™ The weight just creeps on doesn’t it? Slowly so you never really notice it.. A couple of years ago I went on a mega diet and dropped from a 16 to a 12. I have to say though, I know I’ve put a smidge back on after losing Jack – it’s sloooowly now coming off again.

I need to find some time to start the pole dancing again. I lost the feel for it with all the drama earlier in the year and it would do me the world of good πŸ˜‰

I totally get you not liking the bangle with charms – nor do I. I just don’t feel it works that way at all. Worn free though….

Have you checked out Chlobo? I featured them briefly last week and they’re so cool for stacking! ( Bit addictive though.

Huge congratulations on the weight loss – it feels amazing doesn’t it?!

    • endangeredtrolls

Just realised, you’ve lost that weight pretty damn quickly! It took me 18 months!

  9. Debbie

    Hi Victoria,

    Thank you πŸ™‚

4months, and I went down from a large size 14 to a 12. I’ve been a size 16 before and it took me much longer to lose the weight. I am convinced that as you go down the sizes there isn’t as much difference between them!

It’s so easy for it to creep on without noticing πŸ™

I feel so much better and I have so much more energy. I’m now doing the 10,000 steps a day thing that seems to be flavour of the month! I like walking and actually I’m more likely to do my 10,0000 steps a day then I am to get to a gym.

I’ve seen Chlobo yes as a local shop stocks it. I like it, even though it’s quite expensive for what it is, and it looks great stacked. I just haven’t got the money to invest in enough to get a good look going with it πŸ™ I’m also trying to cut back on the number of brands I collect as the size of my wishlish is stressing me out πŸ™

    • endangeredtrolls

Wow that’s so fast! I admit I wanted to drop to a 10 but I just ran out of steam. The last bit of weight loss got really hard and I was needing to work out more and more and running out of time for it. In the end I stopped at a 12. I’m also nearly 5ft 11 so I have to be a tad careful not to go too much the other way or I can look like a weed πŸ˜›

I did the gym thing.. everyday for a year.. and it became such a chore. It was a 30 minute drive either way, an hour work out, easily add 45 minutes for changing and showering – it’s a huge chunk of a day! So I took up pole dancing that I could do at home and I love it, though I’ve been terribly neglectful of it this year and as I said, I know some weight has crept back on πŸ™

I totally understand funds not stretching far enough πŸ™ That’s one of the things about X.. another line.. another set of releases… I don’t think they’ll do limited editions for X though which will help enormously. Oh yes and Pandora Essence just in time for Christmas :p

Did you see the new Story bracelet concept with the links? Some people seem to be liking that more. I’ve just begged their PR team to send me some πŸ˜€

  10. Debbie

    Hi Victoria,

I really liked the new Story bracelet when you first previewed it, but on reflection I think I prefer X by Trollbeads. I’m not a huge fan of dangly charms and the idea of the decorative links in the X system really appeals to me. That swung me in favour of X rather than Story.

I still need to get a snakeskin Story bracelet, and that is now high on my wishlist to get before Christmas, but for the moment I will pass on the Story links bracelet. If money were no object I would definitely get one, but as it isn’t I’m going to focus on X.

Wow, you’re lucky to be tall πŸ™‚ I’m just about 5′ 4″, so any extra weight really shows on me. I used to be a size 8-10 and could eat anything and never put on weight – and then old age crept up on me πŸ˜‰ I would love to be a size 10, but I love my food too much to go for the extra push in losing the weight. As long as I feel healthy and not too wobbly that’s fine by me!

    • endangeredtrolls

I’m wondering how similar the link sizing between Story and X are.. aka whether there’s any chance of say, adding a Story gold plated link to a black rubber X by Trollbeads bracelet. I bizarrely loved the gold at the X event but I can’t ever afford that! Anyway they’ve agreed to send me out some samples so I’m hoping to be able to offer an idea of the Story bracelet next week.

Largely I’m with you and dangles aren’t usually my thing. I made an exception for the Story Striped Skull from last year – which is one of my all time favourite charms πŸ˜‰ But I too prefer the decorative links to decorative charms. On the flip side, I love the magnetic locks! I’ll be rather excited if they’re all compatible..

Yeah I’m very tall so at least my fat is kinda stretched out a bit πŸ˜‰ I really need to shed just a few kilos again though. Just for the sake of keeping on top of it you know? It’s far easier to lose a bit than be faced with the mammoth task of dropping a couple of dress sizes. I also remember when I could eat anything.. alas it does catch up with us all (or most of us ;))

  11. Scarlett

I was just given confirmation from a Pandora employee that the bracelet does not look like the Tiffany bracelet you have pictured in your post. It looks similar to the snake chain bracelet but it is skinnier. The charms are smaller (all silver) and have a rubber liner – meaning they will stay in place. They are only compatible with the new bracelet and do not screw on like the current charms. The charms do not have figures like the current ones. They are round and may be plain, have color, or bling. The charms apparently have meanings and the name is engraved on the silver edge on the side of the bead.

I was told the bracelet is around $50USD. Charms are between $30USD and $55USD. Bracelet is released worldwide on November 4th. I hope this helps and would love to know any additional information (especially pictures).

    • endangeredtrolls

      Hi Scarlett,

Firstly welcome to my blog and secondly, thank you for taking the time to comment πŸ™‚ Information regarding Pandora Essence is incredibly valuable as it’s so hard to find! It’s good to hear that the price point is still reasonable. I was dreading it being a really expensive line πŸ˜‰ Rubber lining is something another brand use and it works very well – simple and incredibly effective.

I quite like the idea of the charm names being printed on the edge. The only problem is that I’m incredibly excited for the release πŸ˜‰

Unfortunately I’m not sure if pictures will be likely. Pandora are protecting this line as much as they can and I think anyone found reproducing leaked images (though to stress I haven’t seen any leaked images yet) would be faced with legal action πŸ™

      Kind Regards

      • Scarlett

I was given my information from an employee at Pandora so I believe what she told me is accurate. She’s seen the bracelet and some of the charms in person and says it’s very beautiful. When I first heard about this new collection for Pandora I was upset. I started collecting Pandora in August and just completed my first bracelet thanks to the Promo in the US. However, the more I hear about the Essence Collection the more I’m dying to see pictures. But you’re right, we will probably see our first picture of this collection from Pandora. I will most likely be getting this new bracelet and charms for Christmas. The prices I noted sound reasonable so I hope they are accurate. If I found out any more information I will post it for you. I’m very excited that the charms will not move. I get a bit bothered by my charms moving around. The new collection sounds beautiful and worthwhile. πŸ™‚

        • endangeredtrolls

          Hi Scarlett,

Thank you so much for this – it’s so valuable to me πŸ™‚ I’m quite excited for this. I don’t have a lot of spare money to spend on Pandora but I still like the idea of something new from them πŸ™‚ You’re right of course, it’s perfectly timed for the Christmas season (and I suspect a lot of people will be wishing for this ;))

What is your first bracelet like? Does it have glass and if so what colour scheme did you go for? πŸ˜€

          Kind Regards
