Pandora Essence Collection News

Pandora are planning a new bracelet concept for quarter four of 2013. This Pandora jewellery blog article brings Pandora Essence Collection news!

Last week I published the earliest snippets of information regarding the Pandora Essence Collection. It’s a new bracelet concept set to make it’s debut in either October or November of 2013. Details are incredibly scarce as Pandora have required both concept store employees and those working at larger independent retailers to sign non-disclosure agreements. Thanks to a lovely reader, we now have a few more details (thank you!)

Pandora Essence Collection

Rumours suggested the new Pandora Essence collection would feature a far slimmer bracelet concept. Due to this reduction in size, a new series of complementary charms are also debuting. The original range of charms will not be compatible with the essence bracelet system.

Initial speculation had suggested the bracelet similar in design to the Tiffany wire charm bracelet. This is apparently not the case as the new essence bracelet is indeed flexible and not a rigid bangle style. Indeed it’s believed that the bracelet is very similar to the existing Pandora bracelet, albeit far more slender.

The system is fully modular. That is to say charms can be added and removed from the bracelet unlike the Chlobo or Alex & Ani systems. In addition the beads do not move around on the chain, unlike most charm bracelets. This alone appeals to me as I get incredibly frustrated by wandering charms. The charms are apparently rubber lined to keep them in place. This alone is not a new concept as it’s already employed by Lovelinks. Obviously due to the decreased size, these charms will not be compatible with the existing Pandora bracelet.

The source believed the new concept would appeal to the more fashion conscious, making me even more excited for the new range. It was described as more youthful (but not specifically young) which brings hope for perhaps something a tad more contemporary from Pandora.

In regards to pricing, the new Pandora Essence bracelet is expected to retail at around $50 with charms costing between $30 and $55. Thanks to another reader a global release date of November the 4th has now been suggested.

In a last snippet of Pandora related news, I’ve also heard rumours that Chamilia have now lost their contract with Disney in favour of Pandora. If this proves correct we can likely expect official Disney branded Pandora charms in the future, certainly a common request on the Pandora Facebook page.

Finally please remember that everything featured here is based on rumour rather than fact. The Pandora Essence Collection is a very closely guarded secret at presence so please take all information here as speculation.

As always I love to hear from my readers. Do these latest details make you more excited for the Pandora Essence collection? Are you budgeting already for this release? Have you heard any further information pertaining to the Pandora Essence Collection? Would you like to see Disney branded charms awarded to Pandora and would these interest you as a shopper? Sounds like the clip station IMO. More stuff to buy…yay lol

      Hi Carolyn,

I’ve just edited the article with some more information – it’s a very slender chain with rubber lined charms to keep them secure. At least if all this information proves correct ;) I think a clip station would be too similar to their existing line.

We also have a speculated release date of November the 4th! :D

      Kind Regards

I am not that keen on new line as it means the focus of original charms could be diverted to the new line and we could possibly get fewer original charm releases or charms not given great thought in. Its also going to be annoying for current collectors as they have trouble catching up yet now another new line release t

      Hi :)

Firstly, welcome to my blog and thank you for taking the time to comment.

I understand this concern entirely. It’s the same feelings the Trollbeads collectors have had since X by Trollbeads launched – there’s the worry that your beloved brand might suddenly not get the attention it has before from designers, right?

Of course, I have no idea if this will be true – none of us do until the new line launches but I do understand the worry :(

      Kind Regards
      Victoria

I love your posts! I participated in the free bracelet promotion and got another for myself, with the mermaid. I love it, just wish she was holding a pearl or a gold ball and that her tail was a dangle.

    • endangeredtrolls

      Hi Evelyn,

Thank you so much! :) It’s great to hear that you had fun with the bracelet promotion :) I have a stash of Pandora fall collection charms that I’m photographing this week for review. The Mermaid sadly isn’t among them so it’s great to hear that you like her :)

It won’t be *too* long until the Christmas release! ;)

      Kind Regards
      Victoria

Ooooo…Disney partnering with Pandora? I’ll be at WDW for Christmas and would love for Santa to leave a charm in my stocking, ha, ha!

    • endangeredtrolls

It’s certainly something I was told last week but I have no idea how true it is at this stage. I can’t find much about it in any of the industry magazines.

I love Disney so I’d certainly like to see this I admit ;)

      Kind Regards

    Hi Victoria,

Yes, Disney would be great. I love anything Disney, and always wondered why Pandora did not carry Disney charms. I own a Chamilia bracelet with just Disney characters. The new Essence collection sounds great. I’m looking forward to the release.

    Regards,

    Martha

Chamilia have always had an exclusive contract with Disney for branded charms. Of course no other brand is then allowed to use a Disney character. Like I mentioned I have heard that Disney have cancelled the contract with Chamilia and moved it to Pandora but I don’t know if it’s true or just gossip!

In regards to Essence – I wish I knew more! :( It’s a very closely guarded secret and since all employees had signed an NDA, no one wants to talk about it – which I completely understand might I add ;) On the other hand I suppose it makes it more exciting :)

      Kind Regards

I’m always interested to see new products & lines that companies release, but Essence may be potentially frustrating to some collectors. Pandora has decent compatibility across their lines (ex. necklace pendants can be used as dangle-style charms on your bracelet, and a few charms can be worn as earrings with the barrels), so it seems a bit weird that they would release a new style of bracelet with zero compatibility. People could end up being frustrated or bitter that a new charm is released for Essence, but the same design isn’t available for the traditional bracelet.

In regards to the rumours about Disney, I actually liked the fact that Pandora didn’t ally with other brands. Not that this changes my opinion about Pandora or will make me stop buying their products, I just prefer them not to sell licenced products.

    • endangeredtrolls

      Hiya Kerrie :)

I think it’s going to be a very contentious issue :( We’ve just seen similar emotional reactions with Trollbeads and I’m expecting it all again with Pandora. It certainly sounds like the charms will be totally different to the current Pandora line so the example you gave is spot on of course.

Disney… tough one! I see so many requests for Disney charms on Pandora’s Facebook page and the Chamilia issue comes up time and time again. I tend to prefer the more contemporary charms. I see Pandora as a fashion product so very cute charms don’t usually suit my style. That said, I grew up adoring Disney and part of me would love a girly princess bracelet. I’d keep it all together – not mix it with my other charms! Again though, I can see people having very mixed feelings about this one :( The Disney charms have always suited Chamilia as they’re such a sparkly blingy brand – would they work as well for Pandora? Time will tell!

      Kind Regards
      Victoria

    Hi Victoria,

I like the idea of the Essence range, so fingers crossed it looks as good as it sounds ;-)

Disney charms aren’t my personal taste, however I’m sure Pandora will do well with them. I hope they put their own stamp on the Disney charms – I never thought that Chamilia got them quite right :-( Although I like a bit of bling, Chamilia is too blingy for me!

    /hugs

    • endangeredtrolls

Chamilia is very bright and blingy! Super pretty in the right circumstances I think. I’ve been negotiating with Chamilia since March, they’re sure not quick ;)

I love the idea of a Disney themed bracelet – if I could just keep it all together as I don’t think I’d mix them with other charms ;)

As for Essence – time will tell I guess ;) Information is trickling out slowly but I can’t see images being an option – Pandora would lynch me :p

      /hugs

If the new pandora bracelet is slimmer in size, then shouldn’t the original pandora charms be able to fit on the new bracelet, but the new slimmer charms won’t fit on the original pandora bracelet? does this make sense?

    • G race

oops…i think that i read wrong in regards to my last posting. new charms won’t fit on old bracelet but old charms will fit on new bracelet.

    • endangeredtrolls

      Hi Grace :)

Firstly, welcome to my blog and thank you for posting. That absolutely would make sense yes. The new bracelet is apparently not threaded so depending on how the clasp works, I suppose there is a chance that older charms could get stuck on it. Like you I don’t see how a thinner bracelet can not work with large cored charms. Unless the rumours of it being incompatible are more to boost actual sales. I know, for example, official retailers are not allowed to point out that some Trollbeads will fit Pandora chains – they get in trouble from Pandora. Rather they’re meant to state that “Pandora only recommend Pandora branded charms on their bracelets” etc etc. So I wonder if it’s more a marketing ploy that they’re new bracelet concept is designed to work with these new rubber lined charms.

If the new charms are super small, I suppose the original charms would look silly with it…

It’s going to feel a really long wait until November if no more information becomes available!

      Kind Regards
      Victoria

  9. Ellie

I’d be quite excited to see Pandora come out with some Disney charms – I’ve always quite liked some of the Disney Chamilia charms (especially the Winnie the Pooh ones), but I don’t like to mix and match my brands ;)

As for Essence, I’m very intrigued! I can’t quite picture it from the little snippets of info that are coming out. I wouldn’t mind if it was incompatible with my current Pandora collection, so long as it was really very different from the current charm bracelet. If it’s pretty similar, and the incompatibility is clearly just another marketing ploy on Pandora’s part, I’d be less impressed!

In any case, 4th of November seems like some way away ;)

    • endangeredtrolls

I agree about November feeling a long time away :( I’m not 100% sure on that debut date. That’s certainly the official launch date for the Christmas collection – though some stores are already receiving that stock. Whether Essence will launch on the same date, we’ll see ;)

I LOVE Winnie the Pooh :D The Disney thing is just a rumour – I’ve no idea if it’s true but it’s from a credible enough source – it will be interesting to see if it IS true. It would make sense, Pandora are a much larger brand for Disney than Chamilia and one would assume Disney wanted their branded merchandise with the most popular jewellery brand they can get.

      Kind Regards
      Victoria.

p.s. Congratulations on the new blog! :D

Help! We gave the essence bracelet to my daughter as a graduation gift and have had lots of problems. It kept falling off and had to be replaced due to a faulty clasp. Others have had same problem. We want to get a safety chain but pandora does not make one fir this style?! We cannot find one small enough to fit….anyone have any ideas….she is afraid to wear the new one!

    • endangeredtrolls

      Hi Shanmarie,

Pandora don’t do a safety chain for Essence and I think all the chains I know are just too large. You could take it to a Thomas Sabo store and see if their new Karma Beads chain will work but I’m really not sure :/

      Kind Regards
      Victoria

      • shanmarie

Thanks. Will look at Karma. I am so disappointed with Pandora. One jeweler told us they are dreading the aarival of essence in the store due to clasp issues (facebook) and the lack of safety chain :(

        • endangeredtrolls

I admit I’ve had no issues with mine but I don’t wear it extensively as I find it difficult to utilise on it’s own. I think I’d need several more bracelets to create a stacked look before I’d be happy and I just don’t have that to spend right now.

A few readers on here bought Essence, one lady bought multiple bracelets at launch, and I haven’t heard that she has had any problems so perhaps it’s limited to certain bracelets. Is there no chance of Pandora replacing it?

          Kind Regards
          Victoria

Us and lots of others. Glad yours is fine. Two local jewelers said they have heard negative buzz behind the scenes. Yes…we asked for a replacement…two times…two new bracelets with the same problem! She has had too many close calls to wear it without a safety chain. Poor marketing plan for a high end company. We love the look, just wish she could wear her graduation gift.

  11. shanmarie

Good news update! After arguing with Pandora about the problems with the Essence…and receiving two replacements due to faulty clasps….we found a solution. Pandora says that they are not planning to sell a safety chain anytime in the near future…in spite of customer complaints and requests :( We looked everywhere for a sterling safety chain that would work with this very thin bracelet. Finally, I ran across Fire Mountain Gems and did a live chat. They gave me this link: http://www.firemountaingems.com/itemdetails/H20A2269FN I ordered it and it is a perfect fit for the Essence! My daughter is now able to safely wear the bracelet with out worrying that it will fall off and get lost. The people at Fire Mountain were really nice. Delivery was quick. And the product looks very elegant on the Essence :)
