This Ohm Beads blog brings a complete preview of the Ohm Beads Year of the Dog, Bead of the Month for January 2018.

Last week saw the global launches of the Ohm Beads November charms and I mentioned at the time that we didn’t have long to wait for the January previews. Simultaneously came the news that the Bead of the Month series would continue into 2018, much to the delight of many.

Actually there’s just the one unveiling today and it will launch on January the 9th. As usual though pre-orders begin immediately.

Ohm Beads Year of the Dog

The Bead of the Month for January 2018 is the Ohm Beads Year of the Dog. One thousand two hundred and thirty four (1234) have been produced and it’s retailing at $85. The bead depicts a meditating dog draped in monk robes. Pay attention to the mala bead detailing on the wrists.

Ohm Beads Year of the Dog Summary

I’ve mentioned before that I’m not a huge fan of animal beads but this guy is a little quirky with his monk attire. I am however a big fan of the Ohm Beads Weeping Warrior and I’m hoping this charm will complement the theme of that design well.

As always I love to hear from my readers. What are your thoughts on the Ohm Beads Year of the Dog? Will you be indulging? Hit the comments and let me know!

Oh gosh I was looking forward to this one! But no. While a well-executed piece of bead artwork, it doesn’t evoke the chinese dog of year of the dog at all for me,,, more like a kung fu panda pit bull. I get that a shar-pei is a chinese dog also, but not typically used to depict year of the dog in China. I hope it’s a huge seller though worldwide and in China and applaud Ohm for doing a chinese year dog bead!

Faye’s comment could be mine. I was looking forward to this one as soon as I heard the rumors about it being a dog. I love the idea. The robes and mala beads are really well done, and that part of the bead’s execution appeals to me. Quirky is a great way to describe it. But that face? Just no. Kung Fu Panda Pit Bull, indeed! (I’m going to be chuckling about that one all day, Faye.) Just as well; my budget will thank me. 😉 I think it will appeal to lots of other folks. There are many who are doing Asian-themed bracelets, and maybe it will fit right in.

  3. Pippa

I like this one!!!! Much better then Year of the Cock, while beautiful filagree just does not work with my style. This bead is great – much more Ohm-y. I’m not even into dogs but this guy is just so quirky and I agree the he could work well with Weeping Warrior. Maybe him in the middle and flanked by matching glass then a Weeping Warrior on either side and a nice stopper.

(I really need to figure out which brand/size bangle fits me best. I like the idea of bangles so much but need to figure them out. I don’t know why sizing is such a problem for me. Might be worth the drive some time to figure it out. I wish there was a retailer near me that carries Ohm and Trollbeads.)

Back to the bead -definitely going to order one and my wallet is happy that it’s just one.

Pretty sweet, quirky. I do hope/plan to get one. Thanks for the p/review.
