Ohm Beads Spring Refractions Preview (Bead of the Month April 2018)

This Ohm Beads blog brings a complete preview of the upcoming Ohm Beads Spring Refractions, Bead of the Month for April 2018.

Today sees the preview of the Ohm Beads Spring Refractions as the Bead of the Month for April 2018. This is a really exciting preview for me as it sees the first Ohm Beads glass of 2018. The official release date is April the 3rd but retailers are permitted to begin pre-orders immediately.

Ohm Beads Spring Refractions

For those of you who like to keep count, this will be Bead of the Month number thirty five. Once again there are two thousand two hundred and twenty two being produced which sounds a healthy number. Bunny Angel seems to have sold out entirely however (aside from stocks held by Ohm Beads USA for the release day) and it did so very quickly. I have my suspicions that many collectors will want pairs of this glass bead so immediately I think it will be a very fast seller. It will retail at $50 or €47.

Ohm have mentioned to expect variation in this glass bead and you only need to look at the design to see this will be the case. It’s a mix of of apple green, raspberry and cherry blossom shades with a faceted cut. The cut makes it almost look like reflections on a pond and it’s a very spring feeling glass.

Ohm Beads Spring Refractions Summary

I am just so excited to see new Ohm Beads glass, though it had already been hinted at on social media. The colours are admittedly not my normal choice as I’m not much for green. I’m going to cross my fingers and hope for a version with a lot of pink. Regardless of my personal colour preferences I’m really looking forward to this one. It’s also very pretty for the spring season and I know I’ll want a pair for the sake of easier styling.

As always I love to hear from my readers. What are your thoughts on the Ohm Beads Spring Refractions? Are you happy to see new glass? Will you be pre-ordering? Hit the comments and let me know!

I love the colours and I agree the bead captures spring. But Ohm glass not in a barrel shape and faceted…? I hope that won’t be repeated too often in the future.
This is a bead I am excited about and ready to pre-order after being underwhelmed with YOTD size-wise (where the size of the prayer-beads fooled me and I was disappointed when I received it) and very underwhelmed with Tea Bag (it’s tiny and I didn’t buy it). Yay!

Well Cave In was faceted too as the very first Bead of the Month. Personally that’s one of my favourite glass of all brands, let alone Ohm πŸ˜€ This won’t be as large.. Cave In was pretty big :O But I loved the cut πŸ™‚

I’m sorry to hear that you were disappointed in the Year of the Dog though πŸ™

Love this glass bead! I will look great with my bunny angel from March! I think the green adds a bit of springtime freshness. I like the facets they make it that much more special. I agree it looks like reflections. Erie Rocks is the same style and I really like how they have a bit of sparkle. I hope they do more in the future!

I think we’re ALL hoping for more Ohm Beads glass in the future πŸ˜‰

The only thing I wish… I wish it had launched in time for Easter. It would look perfect on Easter bracelets with the Bunny Angels (and Bunny Reapers.) That’s a pretty minor grumble though and hardly Ohm’s fault. They never claimed it was Easter glass πŸ˜€

Love this bead and will ‘need’ two; lovely Spring colours and love the faceting. Ohm have brought out so many great beads lately I am spending a fortune. Glad the BOTM is a glass one for a change. I wasn’t fortunate enough to get a Cave In as I discovered Ohm beads too late but am looking forward to receiving this bead.

I think it’s definitely one to buy in pairs. It’s lovely but it is also a little unusual so pairs makes sense. PLUS we haven’t seen much Ohm Beads glass recently :O

Cave in was amazing. It’s just the colour of it that makes it so very versatile I think πŸ˜€

  4. Lisa G

It’s gorgeous. Must decide whether to get 2 or 1. Probably 2…:)

  5. Lisa G

Ordered 2. Will be mad at myself if I don’t:(

    • endangeredtrolls

Yeah better to get them now than try and find them later

  6. Mary B

I am not a particular fan of Ohm barrel glass so I like this faceted cut better. My first impression when I saw the bead was not spring but rather a lizard skin or perhaps a dinosaur. I think it would work great with the Rawr line or any other lizard beads.

  7. Jenifer

I love how tastes are so very different. I think it’s hideous but would be perfect on a Halloween bracelet because it looks to me like zombie vomit with blood splatter πŸ˜‰

    • Jenifer

Now that I think about it… it really would be brilliant with killer kitty and another zombie bead

      • Nemo

GREAT MINDS think alike, I didn’t see your comment before I posted mine!

  8. Nemo

I look at this and all I can see is Zombie! This has “Halloween” written all over it. Or maybe that’s just me! This would look awesome in a black/purple/green Halloween bracelet.

    • Jenifer

Yeah I can almost see the whole bangle – a black textured bead like rolled over, one of the zombie heads or the pumpkin head, this bead, killer kitty, and then either a deep purple or Cracked Coagulation

  9. Gene

This is what I love about your blog, Victoria! The same bead…some see Spring….others see dinosaurs and zombies. Fantastic!

  10. Pippa

    Oh my, the possibilities…

I admit my first reaction to the colors was concern. Not a shade of green that I look good in. And it made me think of horrible sherbet punch colored bridesmaids dresses from the 80s with big hair and dyed to match shoes. Of course because it is Ohm Glass (!!!) this did not stop me from ordering a pair πŸ™‚

I like the faceted Cave-In so that it’s not barrel shaped is fine and it’s fun to get something a little different.

I’ve really liked Ohm’s mottled glass beads in the past and they look better in person so I am optimistic about this bead and now have so many more ideas for possible uses thanks to some very creative minds ^^^
Although, I actually want Ohm to another silver Zombie bead – something a little more menacing.
And I still have my fingers crossed for a glass bead series/collection from Ohm this year!

    • Jenifer

My first thought was OH god that is hideous! Then I saw a zombie Lilly Pulitzer. But the 80’s bridesmaid is a brilliant description!

  11. Ilse

Nice to see another shape than the barrel! I’m not quite convinced I need this one though, and with so many lovely new, old and retiring beads from different brands I think I’ll pass. Also, if I should get the crazy idea (I really hope not!) I need Big Luna, I’d better start saving…

  12. Elizabeth (Lizzie)

I don’t like Ohm glass beads, and I am perfectly content to be able to resist another of their monthly offerings. I’ve purchased too many πŸ™‚

That said, I hope they come out with some more irresistible ones. My favorites so far are probably Mama Terra and the one about the bees.
