Ohm Beads April 2018 Collections Launch

This Ohm Beads blog alerts readers to the launch of the Ohm Beads April 2018 releases, including Spring Refractions as the Bead of the Month design.

Today sees the global launch of the Ohm Beads April 2018 collections. This includes Spring Refractions as the Bead of the Month design and it’s particularly special given it’s glass. Glass Bead of the Month creations have been few and far between and with a slight shortage on Ohm Beads glass in general recently, it’s a very welcome addition.

Joining Spring Refractions is the new Ohm Beads Sunflower, reviewed the week before last. For the benefit of those who have missed the previews, here’s an overview of the new designs.

Ohm Beads Spring Refractions

Two thousand two hundred and twenty two (2222) Spring Refractions have been made and as usual they are distributed with their numbered certificates. It’s retailing at $50, €47 or £42. Ohm did mention themselves that there is a lot of variation to be found in these beads and that has absolutely proven true.

Ohm Beads Sunflowers

Sunflowers is not a limited edition and is essentially a continuation of the existing Flowers collection. The size and style is identical so if you enjoyed those original beads, you’re sure to like Sunflowers.

Ohm Beads Ordering Details

Below you’ll find a list of my retail partners. Availability of Spring Refractions is still good so I’m not splitting that into it’s own set of links this time. Retailers selling the glass from live images are marked with a *.

Ohm Beads April 2018 Summary

Spring Refractions can be a little tricky to style and I’d encourage collectors to consider shopping those in pairs as you’ll find bracelet options far easier. That said don’t expect an identical pair as the variation is enormous.

Sunflowers is an absolute classic and though I’ve mentioned before that it’s always difficult to judge a bead until the novelty value wears off, I have enjoyed so much use from my Ohm Beads Flowers designs and I don’t see this being any different. It’s also a little larger than many of Ohm’s silvers so if you have ever been deterred by their size, don’t let that discourage you here.

For those of you who like to keep atop of upcoming releases, do remember that Forbidden Fruit has been confirmed as Bead of the Month for May 2018. Further to that there seems to be something happening over at Ohm Stuff on April the 9th.

Do remember also that the Ohm Beads buy five get one free offer is now available globally as opposed to retailers only being able to honour it within their own market.

As always I love to hear from my readers. What are your thoughts on the new Ohm Beads designs for April? Did you pre-order these? Hit the comments and let me know!

It’s hard for me to get excited about the April releases. I like Sunflowers and agree that it could be very useful, but it’s a flower bead, and a summer flower a that. And I still am not sure what I’m going to do with them, though your spring bracelet for Froggo has given me an idea…

I’m hoping for more Ohm releases for the basic line that are quirkier soon.

As for Ohm Stuff – I’m already burnt out. Maybe I won’t even like it…

I get it. I’ve always kind of had the same thoughts as you in regards to flowers. “Flowers for spring. How groundbreaking”. <== Devil Wears Prada by the way 😉 Disclaimer.. I'm not a flowers kinda girl. One of the reasons I love Ohm is that they bring something unpredictable to my job. I've been blogging now for coming up nine years. That's nine years of designs. Nine years of spring collections. Nine years of "flowers for spring. Leaves for autumn." So whenever Ohm do something a little more predictable, I almost feel disappointed (and then verbally chastise myself for it as they need variety too.) Oddly.. I like the Ohm Flowers. When they were first previewed I remember sighing and assuming I'd dislike them. Over the months however I've worn them *a lot*. For one thing they are a little larger than I expected. For me that means they scale better with the Ohm glass or to be mixed with Trollbeads. I had *assumed* they would be tiny and I'd struggle to make out the details. Not so. The shape makes them sooo comfortable. I love the Trollbeads Birth Month Flowers but the shape on some of them is awkward I think. Especially when I wear bangles to save my poor pathetic wrists (which happen to bruise very easily.) The fact they've kept the styling the same is also part of the appeal. It makes for a really neat, tidy, cohesive looking bracelet. For some people that just won't work. For me it really does. I don't know the exact reasoning but I do like this line of beads.

Pippa, I know. I don’t like the sunflower bead and I’m losing hope for the spring refractions. I’m almost afraid to open the box when it comes:(

Lisa – I’m laughing because I got my Refractions beads and haven’t yet opened…could be scary….

As for the Sunflower bead, I do like it better in person. I don’t know exactly why but it’s size does help. But it’s still not very exciting…at least not for Ohm 😉
Plus, it should be a mid to late summer release – I know this really isn’t an issue particularly as it’s for the regular collection. But it bugs me, really I’m sure because I wanted something more fun and interesting that isn’t a statement piece, maybe next month. 🙂

I bought the Spring Refractions bead and I’ve been pleasantly surprised how many ways I have been able to style it. The colours really work. Just have the one but I’m happy with that 😊
