Ohm Beads Rawr Glass Live Images & Inspiration

This Ohm Beads blog brings live images and a little inspiration for the newly debuted Ohm Beads Rawr glass collection.

As part of the Ohm Beads January 2019 collection came new Rawr glass. These have been much requested since the retirement of the originals, probably because they are so very unique. Predictably following their launch they’ve proven incredibly popular but they do vary enormously.

Today I’m sharing some live images and a little inspiration for how I’ve been styling them.

The new Ohm Beads Rawr glass collection comprises three designs; Dragon Bone, Dragon Skin and Dragon Blood. They each retail at $45 and they are not limited editions.

Dragon Bone is the palest of the three glass, as it’s name suggests. It’s slightly mottled or peppered.

The base of Dragon Blood is darker than the details on the top. The base is quite a deep reddish brown and how much it shows does vary from bead to bead though we’ve yet to see one where it’s predominantly dark.

Dragon Skin is arguably the most eye catching and distinctive of the set due to it’s raised details. The base of the bead is actually very close to Dragon Blood but it has raised dark amber dots.

These are such eye catching designs that I wanted to use other beads that would allow them to shine. I mentioned yesterday that I’m currently enjoying a romance with Trollbeads Pearls (shop the exact beads used for this bracelet here) and they were the perfect backdrop for these beads. I’ve kept the silver to spacers; small and neat and the whole combination allows the glass to stand out. Finally I added a bangle showcasing a single Henhousebeads Scrambled Egg. It’s very similar to a dark example of Gables which you can shop here.

Ohm Beads Rawr Glass Summary

I’ve seen a couple of people mention that they’re not really into the whole dinosaur or dragon theme which I understand. Actually you don’t need to be for the glass, they can represent whatever you want them to. They’re very organic feeling, just like the originals, so they look perfect for nature themed bracelets. Here the use of other very simple beads just allows their intricacy to be the theme. They’re beautiful glass.

Hello! I can’t wait to meet them IRL, looks very textured, heavy & even geological! I started collecting Ohm 2 years ago so I missed the original Rawr collection. I would love to see them beside each other. How would you say they compare to the retired ones?

According to Ohm the sizes should be consistent though I think my three are perhaps smaller than most which I actually prefer 🙂

I like this series of RAWR glass, as well as the original. Of course, ‘Caved In’ was, and remains my favorite (which I scrambled to find when I first started collecting Ohm). This series adds a bit more texture, which is best seen on Dragon Skin, my favorite of this group for that reason. Your concept of mixing them with pearls is great! Also, matching the core color with similarly colored ambers and glass looks really nice. I like the names of this series, it obviously supports the silvers.

In fairness, if I didn’t like the name… I wouldn’t ever let that stop me from purchasing a great glass or bead that otherwise supports my collection.

I loved Cave In though I know some collectors struggled with it’s size, which I do understand as I prefer my bracelets to all be sized consistently. I think it’s why it took me so long to really gel with the Trollbeads Jumbo Uniques 😛

I love the contrast of these with pearls but yes, they’d look amazing (and rather apt,) with amber 🙂
