Ohm Beads Magic Books Summary

I’ve always loved to read and despite the fact e-readers and audio books have proven far more practical in recent years, they can never replace the magic of a physical book. This is such a cute charm though I have to confess I’m not a huge lover of humanoid faces in silver.

As always I love to hear from my readers. What are your thoughts on the Ohm Beads Magic Books and will you be indulging? Hit the comments and let me know!

I agree with you. I like the design but I’m not a big fan of her face. I’ll try to get one anyway but the website is already crashing, probably from the enormous number of connections to buy it…

    • endangeredtrolls

It’s loading for me fine right now and honestly, no retailer website should really struggle with this kind of traffic unless there’s another issue at the same time. Pre-orders have started but do remember of course it’s not shipping until June BUT there’s only 333 too so if you know you want it, it’s always worth getting those orders in early anyway <3 πŸ™‚

      xoxo

      • Lisa G

        Crashed for me too.

  2. Lynne

I was hoping to get this one until I saw it. I don’t like the fairy. And this is why I will not buy a bead without seeing it first.

    • endangeredtrolls

I’m really sorry you aren’t keen on the fairy. I know it can be disappointing when you’ve looked forward to a design for a while and then it’s not to your taste. Still there’s always something else just around the corner πŸ™‚

      xoxo

      • Lynne

Exactly!!! I love Ohm just not all their designs. I want the emotions, flowers and alien beads. Oh and the butterfly too.

        • Lynne

And I agree with you about the back of the charm. It’s quite lovely. That is the way I would wear it too.

          • endangeredtrolls

Yes I absolutely prefer the back to the front πŸ˜€ And that’s fine since those of us who feel that way can just spin it around and see those beautiful wings instead πŸ˜€

            xoxo

        • endangeredtrolls

Realistically most of us aren’t going to love every design, especially from a brand like Ohm who have such huge variation in their themes!

The Alien charms finally arrived with me at the weekend and I so love them πŸ˜€

          xoxo

  3. Elizabeth (Lizzie )

Omgoodness that is gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous! I absolutely can’t afford it right now but have just ordered two! Hope no glitches with process as I have a PET scan today and can’t be lingering online. Thanks Victoria.

PS didn’t look closely at her face but even if it’s weird I won’t really be able to see it. I know my friend will adore it too.. Love to find good beads to gift…

  4. Katie

A bead combining my two addictions – beads and books. Yes, I will indulge. I agree that faces in silver tend to be a bit odd, but it might not seem as odd in real-life scale. And, the wings are lovely… Darn, I really didn’t want to like this one, but I do.

  5. Nick

I love it! Thank you Ohm! And thanks Victoria for telling us about it!

    • endangeredtrolls

*Always* welcome! πŸ˜€ I love being able to deliver morning news πŸ˜‰

      xoxo

  6. Leema

I think I’m a bit put off by the face, to be honest, though the back of the charm is really lovely. Hmm… Thanks for the preview Victoria:)

    • endangeredtrolls

I don’t generally like any faces in silver. I find them a little creepy I think. BUT! (And I realise this is not a solution for everyone,) with this one I’m going to wear it with the fairy’s wings showing (so backwards essentially.) I like the wing detailing more than the face and the books are still visible so that’s my plan! πŸ™‚

      xoxo

      • Leema

That’s actually a pretty good plan as the wings and stack of books are gorgeous…πŸ€”πŸ˜Š xxx

        • endangeredtrolls

I feel exactly the same. It’s just the face I’m not 100% convinced about and that’s a standard thing with me. So I’m just turning it around and enjoying those wins instead πŸ˜€

          xoxo

  7. Kim

Hmmm, have to think about this one a bit. I was excited by the name when I read your article yesterday, but I’m not crazy about the fairy. I wonder how fast it will vanish…

    • endangeredtrolls

That’s the hard part to predict of course. There are 333 which is not a lot globally, especially by Ohm’s standards. Ohm bring me *huge* traffic these days so I know how many fans are out there. Every time I try to predict how fast something will sell though, I fail miserably πŸ˜› I’m pretty certain you have time to think on it though!

      xoxo

  8. Noemi

It’s a nice bead combines both things I love reading and fantasy, but I will probably not be getting it. I’m still waiting for my beads from the Italian release. I always worry buying from overseas, I guess I just shouldn’t do it.

    • endangeredtrolls

Please try not to worry too much πŸ™‚ Mail from Europe to the USA (and vice versa) can easily take 6 to 8 weeks before it’s worth even being slightly concerned. I’ve currently got a rather expensive package full of clothes ping-ponging backwards and forwards between Denmark and Australia. I ordered in March… they never arrived here before I left for the USA at the end of April.. while I was over there I got an email from the store to say the package had arrived back with them and would I like it sending again. They did that while I was in the USA. That’s now three weeks ago and it’s *still* not here!

However I have beads arrive from abroad on a near weekly basis and I think in all of the years I’ve been doing this I’ve had one package actually go missing and then two that have ended up being returned to sender (and then finally shown up.)

      Give it time <3 πŸ™‚

      xoxo

  9. Paula, Gravesend

Quite relieved I don’t like it as my bead wish list is rather long. I will stick to the new Ohm beads emotions and looking forward to see what their new bead of the month will look like.

    • endangeredtrolls

I’m really excited for the Emotions release. I can’t quite put my finger on *why* they appeal so much but they really do πŸ˜€ I think they’re just so cute! For what it’s worth, I think a lot of us are waiting for that Bead of the Month to be leaked. It’s going to feel a *very* long wait.

      xoxo

  10. renee

already ordered, It’s lovely. I’m a librarian assistant so this is perfect!

    • endangeredtrolls

That’s such a perfect charm for you then! πŸ˜€ I love that the books are stacked I must admit. There’s something more.. fantastical? About a *stack* of books rather than just a book. Or maybe I’m just a little weird πŸ˜€

      xoxo

  11. Gene

I love the back of her and the stack of books, I just don’t care for the front. I’ll probably pass, although I do like your idea of wearing it backwards. One thing you mention, Victoria is preferring to read an actual book over e- books and audio books. I completely agree. I love the feel of a book. I’ve even been known to smell them before I start reading.

    • endangeredtrolls

Yeah I mean… I’m a tech addict. It’s ridiculous. My keyboard is all backlit and flashes, which matches my laptop. I’m a sucker for anything new tech related. E-readers and audio books are undoubtedly the way forwards for the book industry but you definitely lose something with them. The smell, the feel.. especially of really beautiful hardback books.

      xoxo

  12. Beth

I ordered it, and had no problems with the site. I think the bead is charming! In fact, although I still have to see it in person, it’s likely to become one of my favorite Ohm beads. It ticks all the boxes for me: books, first and foremost, and fantasy, of course, plus I find the sum total of the aesthetic of the bead so very appealing. And, though I know it’s not for everyone, I think the fairy’s face is sweet and really well done. I’m so happy to have been able to purchase one. It was not in my budget, but I couldn’t resist. Besides, the jury is still out for the Heart of Stone. Can we say, “justification?!” Thanks so much for the heads up, Victoria.

These days, I do most of my reading via an e-reader, but physical books will never lose their appeal. My house is full of them. Gene, there’s nothing like the smell of a hardcover book — even one that’s old and used. Who knows who else has read it, and what their personal story is?!

    • endangeredtrolls

You are most welcome as always πŸ˜€ I love preview days πŸ˜€ Especially with Ohm these days as there’s just such a buzz about the brand and it’s very infectious πŸ™‚

I’m so pleased you like it! I agree about the e-readers.. they’re SO practical. The number of times in my younger years that I used to battle with massive fantasy books when reading in bed.. They’ve taken away that problem, plus the storage issue of course but ohhh there’s something special about hardback books.

Are you going to make a special bracelet for this Beth? Or do you have some other beads to use with it already planned? πŸ˜€

      xoxo

      • Beth

Oh, yes, wrestling the huge fantasy books in bed! πŸ˜‰ Some of them still live in a place of honor on my bedside table.

I’m not sure if I’ll make a special bracelet for this bead specifically, although you never know. It’s possible it may end up on my LOTR bracelet, though the fairy’s wings don’t really work. I also have a very special bracelet that mostly stays together which contains beads that have special meaning to me. That’s where the original Ohm My God usually lives, along with an artisan Tibetan prayer wheel, and then beads that reflect some of my hobbies, important people, and places, such as the True Beadz Handmade to honor my late grandmother and her button collection, a no name guardian angel from my niece and nephew, the Trollbeads Friends book charm, one of Alex’s beads, which changes from time to time, the Ohm Husky bead for my dog, etc. It’s like a beads of protection bracelet; I typically wear it when I have to go to one of my innumerable doctor’s appointments!

  13. Lisa G

I was going to buy it, but couldn’t because of the website problem. So I went off to work and by the time I got there I had reconsidered. It’s nice, especially the wings, but not a must-have for me. I would rather have the ohm feelings or butterfly. I have so many things to buy that it’s ok if I miss this one.

As for shipping, I ordered the Italian beads for shipping to the US and got them in 1 week. Wording on their website at the time actually promised this timeframe. I noticed they don’t promise this anymore. I would only order a real must-have if I had to wait 2 to 4 weeks for it.

Today off to Trollbeads to get a couple of the new leather bracelets, and a couple of beads for my tiara…:)

    • endangeredtrolls

The Ohm Butterflies only arrived with me last weekend and I wasn’t expecting to love it. I thought it might be a little too girly for me but actually it’s very lovely and I suspect it’s possible to style it in a number of different ways to suit most tastes πŸ˜€

I have to confess, I’m shocked that they promised shipping to the USA in a week :O It varies enormously for me but usually the absolutely minimum would be one week to ten days. I’ve then had packages take well over a month :O :O

I hope you had fun shopping for new additions for your tiara πŸ˜€ What did you get in the end?

      xoxo

      • Lisa G

I did get the beads in one week!! Just as promised!

As for the tiara I got the beehive spacer (I already have 2 of the water lily spacers), the oval wind of change and the moonlight dancing charm. I got the leather bracelet in turquoise and green, and they let me pick out my own beads to go with the bracelets. The blue bracelet is for Thuleman!

  14. Maria

I love it !!!! Wings and all 😍 Thank you Ohm for a fantastic book bead, I hope it’s the first of many many book beads It’s with beads the same as with book there’s always room for a few ( many) more 😜

    • Elizabeth (Lizzie)

Hi Maria, I love it too. I haven’t been enamored of book beads generally, but I love this combination. There’s no such thing as too many books, only too few bookshelves.

      • endangeredtrolls

I think most book enthusiasts would agree there’s never going to be enough bookshelves for most of us :*(

        xoxo

    • endangeredtrolls

I’m so pleased that you like her so much! πŸ˜€ Did you pre-order her? They sold more than half in the first 12 hours :O

      xoxo

  15. Polly

Absolutely love this, and have pre-ordered πŸ™‚ I don’t object to faces in principle, but agree they can be especially tricky to pull off. This one looks promising though, making allowance for the fact that super close-up images can exagerrate a bluntness of detail that isn’t apparent in a tiny charm in person, so I am hopeful – and as you say, if I don’t like it then the back view is lovely! πŸ˜€ Also, it looks to be cored high enough, with enough weight at the bottom, to hang right way up, which would be a nice bonus if so πŸ™‚ I think this will pair well with the Perlen My Precious (which of course had similar artwork) – the twin obsessions of books and beads πŸ˜€ xxx

    • endangeredtrolls

I think faces must be terribly difficult to craft! I often find them a little creepy but not enough that I actively avoid wearing them. Or I can usually find a way around it – like this one I’ll wear in reverse but you are right, stock images don’t reflect the end product because ultimately all those details are being magnified by macro lenses :O

I think Ohm Europe had the same artist produce the artwork for both charms which would be why you’re sensing the similarity there πŸ˜€

      xoxo
