Ohm Beads Inspiration with an Alternative Valentine’s Day Bracelet

The limited edition Ohm Beads Love Hurts bead is my favourite release of Valentine’s Day 2014. This Ohm Beads blog article brings a little Ohm Beads inspiration with an alternative Valentine’s Day bracelet.

Last week Ohm Beads debuted their Love Hurts bead. I only saw the stock image of this release the night before it’s debut and I knew instantly how popular it would be. The bead embodies how painful loving (and losing) can be. The narrative that accompanied the bead brought tears to many an eye. While I reviewed the bead itself last week, today I wanted to offer a little Valentine’s Day inspiration featuring the new Love Hurts.

Ohm Beads Alternative Valentine’s Day Bracelet

Ohm Beads have a wicked sense of humour as can be sen in many of their designs. While Valentine’s Day is associated with love, hearts and flowers, I was keen to offer a different type of inspirational bracelet.

This bracelet utilises parts of the Ohm Beads DIY collection, specifically the Feeling Knotty and Screw Me. I added the Ohm Beads Handcuffs and Love Hurts beads to complete the silver selection. Glass beads are provided from the Ohm Beads Dark Shadows release with the addition of their Nuts & Berries bead. The finishing touch is the Trollbeads Catching Hearts lock, a beautifully textured design.

I had great fun designing this bracelet and it felt a refreshing change from all the pink hearts traditionally associated with the day.

As always I love to hear from my readers. Did you succumb to the limited edition Ohm Beads Love Hurts? Have you created a themed bracelet for Valentine’s Day 2014? Hit the comments and let me know!

Oh, I love that red leather! That is a divine, or maybe I mean devilish, red! And I love the beads you’ve put on it. By the by, I finally got around to ordering the Ohm handcuffs and should receive them any day.

Yay for the handcuffs! I love that charm! It’s super cute and naughty πŸ˜‰ Always makes me think of Fifty Shades of Grey which remains my guilty pleasure read.

So glad that you liked the bracelet πŸ™‚

    Victoria,
This is a HOT Valentine’s Day love bracelet! I love the red leather and you invented the PERFECT use of the DIY beads – they look fabulous on the TB’s leather wrap bracelet, perfectly at home like they were made for each other. Such a lovely bracelet combination featuring Love Hurts – a big favorite. Honestly I never saw a bracelet on TB’s red leather that I liked more than this!

Thank you for doing another Valentine Bracelet design!

This design is more “True Blood” than as you say, the more pink, pave or sweet bracelet designs – which I also love. I’m doomed – I love them all. I guess I can be naughty AND nice! πŸ˜‰

Nothing wrong with being both naughty and nice!! <3 I just thought it would be fun to offer something a little more tongue in cheek and less flowers and hearts πŸ˜‰ I'm quite pleased with how it turned out I must admit πŸ™‚

I really like the Dark Shadows glass with the Love Hurts bead. The fractured look of them fits really well with the idea of Love Hurts I think πŸ˜€

Ace, this is the one for me! Nice job πŸ™‚

Love this! It’s sassy and oh so fun. Faye mentioned True Blood, but it also makes me think of Jacqueline Carey’s Terre D’Ange books. Did you ever read those? I highly recommend them for those who like fantasy and don’t mind a little, how to put this delicately, Shades of Grey-type eroticism. I’m so in love with the Ohm DIY collection, even though I have no idea what I’d do with them.

I never really got into Valentine’s Day, but I managed to find one of the new uniques with green glitter hearts, which just arrived today, so maybe I’ll try to come up with a bracelet for it. I’ll have to do some bead play tonight while watching the Olympics.

To be honest, I’ve not used the Ohm Beads DIY series much. I appreciate Ohm’s desire to do different and non-cliched designs but these aren’t especially “me”. I adore their innuendos but I don’t know, I just find them difficult to use. If you take them at face value they’d probably appeal to DIY enthusiasts but that most *definitely* is not me. It’s odd. I’ve happily spent my life with horses, riding, cleaning stables, all the icky jobs that go with that but I’m so precious about other things and I frankly don’t think my fiance would trust me with a hammer πŸ˜›

Oh I’m a bit jealous of your glittery hearts! I must admit when I saw the new versions for this year.. the cream with red and green glitter? I couldn’t help but think how lovely they’d be for Christmas bracelets!

      /hugs

Oh, I’m not a DIY person either. I think I just like them for the wickedly quirky humor. I’ve held off getting them because I can’t really see myself wearing them much, but I have been so tempted! Maybe I should just get one, for the fun of it. πŸ™‚

My heart is cream with upright alternating green glitter and gold glitter hearts. The red and green ones would definitely be great at Christmas. I really don’t know why I love the heart uniques so much when hearts are usually so not me, but I love them, and there it is. πŸ™‚

Out of all of them I like Screw Me and Get Nailed the most. They sit really nicely on a bracelet I think. Fortunately they’re quite cheap if it turns out you want them but won’t wear them all too frequently.

I’m rather jealous of your heart! It sounds like exactly the type I’d love. It’s weird that sometimes, even though something deviates from your usual style, it just works. Imagine the fun you’ll have with it at Christmas too!

          /hugs

Hi Victoria…happy Valentine’s Day! (Belated, since it’s past 12:00 midnight here, which makes it officially the 15th, but close enough I guess). Anyhoo, I *love* your bracelet creation! All the components are so appealing…even though I really adore the typical hearts and “feminine” charms/beads for Valentine’s Day, I’d be very happy to have this beauty. For me, it gets stale to stick with just one jewelry style…the same with music preferences; I’m kind of all over the place with those things. While my clothing usually leans toward more typically feminine, “timeless” styles, I like to change things up with jewelry and accessories. The colors you’ve chosen for your bracelet are so rich and vivid, and Ohm’s Love Hurts is a favorite. I’m getting that one with the free purchase deal Ohm has going on right now when I order the 3 glass beads from the Dark Shadows series included here. (Love Hurts is on backorder until late March, so it’ll ship quite a while after I have all the other pieces put together, but at least Ohm is producing more to meet the heavy demand). I have a very specific purpose for those 4 beads: they’re going on my Frightlings bracelet, along with a couple of silvers from Redbalifrog (Howling Wolf for sure and probably Sugar Skull). Btw, I finally took the plunge and ordered some Frightlings, along with the calendar; can’t wait to receive the lil’ darlins. It’ll be fun putting the Frightlings and the other beads together on the bracelet I have waiting for them. The 3 Dark Shadows glass beads you have look great on the red leather, as does Nuts & Berries. I have Nuts & Berries, along with the other 3 beads from Ohm’s Cascades Of Color collection; I put them on my autumn-themed bracelet and they’re the perfect touch. The colors are truly gorgeous, and really do inspire images of fall’s natural elements. I’d wanted several of the Dark Shadows beads when they came out close to the same time as Cascades Of Color, but needed to prioritize, since we have a lot of autumn birthdays in our immediate family…then the holidays, etc. I put it off…but this is the perfect excuse to finally get them, now that I have a specific purpose for their use. Fun!

    Take care, and nightie-night…
    Kim7
