Ohm Beads Heart of Stone Earliest Information (BotM June 2017)

This Ohm Beads blog brings the earliest information regarding the Ohm Beads Heart of Stone, Bead of the Month for June 2017.

Now that most of us are settling back into our routines after the Spring Bead Break event at Great Lakes Boutique (I can't believe it's over a week ago now,) it's time to begin looking forwards again. Mike at Ohm Beads just made his most recent Ohmbassador update which includes both details the June Bead of the Month but also a couple of other snippets of information.

Here's a summary of what's to come for the next month.

Ohm Beads Heart of Stone

The Bead of the Month for June 2017 has just been publicly confirmed as the Ohm Beads Heart of Stone with a teaser date of May the 24th. There will be a total of one thousand one hundred and eleven (1111) beads made and as usual these will carry individual serial numbers. The retail price will be $140. I say teaser date because there won't actually be a preview of this bead. It is totally blind distribution!

This is a blind Bead of the Month and there is no way of knowing which version you will get until you open the packaging. Actually he described it as smashing the packaging.

Ohm have always stated that they'll run the Bead of the Month concept for as long as they feel like it but there's good news for fans of the series as designs for July and August are both confirmed.

Ohm Beads May 2017 Previews

May the 15th will see the unveiling of an exclusive charm design to Italian retailer Pianeta Beads. Only three hundred and thirty three have been created and you can see a teaser below. Do remember to check back on the 15th for the preview.

Also on May the 24th will come a preview of the limited edition Ohm Beads Rainbowed glass and a couple of further gnome themed beads. Lastly there's a bead inspired by outer space.

Ohm Beads Ohm Gnome Festival

The annual Ohm Gnome Festival has been confirmed for June the 9th and it will be hosted over on the Ohm Stuff Facebook page.

Ohm Beads Going Dutch Extension

On June the 1st there seems to be an addition to the Ohm Beads Going Dutch collection (so obviously it will be exclusive to retailers in Holland.)

As always I love to hear from my readers. What are your thoughts on the first information regarding the Ohm Beads Heart of Stone? What else are you most looking forward to from these upcoming releases? Hit the comments and let me know!

I’m wondering what the bead inspired by outer space is all about. Also the Going Dutch because there is one from that collection called Skutjesilen that I still want.

      #whoknows πŸ˜‰

I know a lot of readers will be looking forward to the extension of the Going Dutch collection though πŸ™‚

Hi Victoria, is the bead you show under the information about the Italian exclusive the Italian bead or the space bead? Just wondering, because it shows a planet too.

    • endangeredtrolls

That’s the bead exclusive to Pianeta Beads (which means Planet Beads in Italian by the way :))

      • Lisa G

        How funny. Had no idea!πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

        • endangeredtrolls

That’s okay! I knew it was going to cause a little confusion πŸ˜€ Maybe the two will work well together though? Who knows! πŸ˜€

          xoxo

          • Lisa G

Can’t wait to see it all. And smash open my packaging!!!

          • endangeredtrolls

            Right?! πŸ˜€

            xoxo

  3. Emily

Various versions sounds interesting! So does smashing open the packaging! Excited to see the reveal of heady of stone πŸ™‚

    • endangeredtrolls

I must admit I probably giggled more than I should about the idea of smashing open packaging. Of course I bet there ends up being some version I try and hunt down which might drive me a little crazy but smashing things? Good for my rage levels I think πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

I’m so pleased I’m not the only one Emily πŸ˜€

  4. Katherine

Shoot, I was really hoping for a release date for the Alice in wonderland collection. They said it would be in their second quarter this year… so I assumed (wrongly, apparently!) that it would be sometime April/May/June.
Any hints on when we might be seeing that, or how many might be in the collection? πŸ˜‰

  5. Paula, Gravesend

I think the Ohm team are very creative but I really wish they weren’t. I went a bit mad at the GLB Spring Bead Break online sale and told myself I would be more restrained but I love the sound of the new releases!!!! Meanwhile my wish list gets ever longer.

  6. Noemi

I’m curious about the gnome themed beads.

    • endangeredtrolls

May the 24th! πŸ˜€ It’s actually felt quite a long time between previews this time since Wings of Protection was unveiled early to account for Mother’s Day :O

  7. Elizabeth

It all sounds so good! Smashing is just a bonus! Preordered the feelings set but gnomes, Dutch and space means that I get very little time to recover from bead bash. Love that there are at least July and August BOTMs. I too want to know what is taking Alice so long. Also hoping soon you can release a bit more info about the city beads you teased earlier…

  8. Mary Miller

I am so intrigued about the idea of smashing the packaging for the June BOTM! Sounds very cool! Do you know the price-point for the bead yet by any chance?

  9. Liz

I had to read Mikes post a couple of times as there was so much stuff happening πŸ˜„
Looking forward to the June BOTM I love the blind ordering πŸ˜„ And smashing it open πŸ˜„ Can’t wait.
I hope there’s another chance to get the Heart in chains and key set again ( I keep forgetting the name ) I have a big list of OHM ( mostly the new Rawr beads ) that I want to get.
The next couple of months is going to be very busy for OHM.

    • endangeredtrolls

That’s Open Your Heart πŸ™‚ I’m sure there’ll be another chance. It made an appearance at Ohm in Rome in April so you need to watch for events mainly πŸ™‚

May is just dominated by Ohm and I love it πŸ˜€

      xoxo

  10. Lauren

I am also waiting to see what’s happening with the Alice in wonderland collection. So wait this new BOTM will we see what it will look like or do we have to wait until we get it to see what the bead actually is and which version we get?

    • endangeredtrolls

You are correct. There is no traditional preview at all. I think the box is being “unveiled” but there’s no seeing the bead until you smash open that box πŸ˜‰

      xoxo

  11. Christina

Oooh. I’m intrigued. I do quite a bit of geode smashing, so that’s the first thing I thought of when I heard the description for Heart Of Stone.

  12. Nereida

It’s sounds so very exciting until you focus on the very real possibility that you’ll spend $140 on a bead that’s not for you, and, after you’ve smashed it, it might be difficult to unload. Could be the smashing is a good part of the value. I’m now totally confused by their making 222 of an expensive bead you can see first, and 1,111 of a blind expensive bead. Though it’s easy to put on a wishlist, it’s harder to press that place order button for that price. A $40 blind bead seems more doable, though I always cringed at completely blind boxes at $10.

  13. JAE

Am I the only person who feels pricing has gotten out of control???

    • endangeredtrolls

Honestly I think it’s impossible to say without knowing what’s in there. There was such a ruckus on social media about the pricing of Wings of Protection before anyone had even seen it. Ultimately it was huge and sold out in moments and now people are trying to find it. This could be enormous too. For all we know right now it has a gold accent. It’s just impossible to judge.

      xoxo

  14. Lisa G

Since I have absolutely no way of knowing what this bead will look like or even what the subject will be, I don’t feel I can spend $140 for it. As intriguing as the smashing part sounds, I am very careful about my bead purchases. It’s one thing not to know the finish of the bead, but another not to know anything about it at all. Are Mike and Kit taking returns?πŸ˜’πŸ˜¬πŸ˜¦

    • endangeredtrolls

I know the distribution of this bead is going to be controversial. I think everyone realises that. I’m kinda excited since even I have no idea what it looks like. I’ve seen the box.. absolutely no idea what’s in it πŸ˜€ It feels a bit like Christmas.

Still the great thing is that no one has to purchase it and with these quantities, there should still be stock after the earliest collectors break their boxes and reveal what’s actually inside πŸ˜‰

      xoxo

      • Lisa G

Yes, I was thinking just thatπŸ˜€

      • Nereida

If there are multiple varieties, even if I knew what all the offerings were, it would be quite a gamble to plunk down $140 on the notio I’d get what I want. Or if I wanted all of them, to buy it, not knowing if I’d get doubles. Anime and Disney products are often sold in these blind boxes, with the possibilities on the side. They are much cheaper, so they sell, but it’s easy to be disappointed if you don’t end up with the one(s) you want, or worse, doubles. That price is a mistake. If there are gold accents, better save it for an open box scenario. The truth is, there’s an excellent possibility these will be resold at a fraction of their original price by people who either didn’t like their bead or got doubles. Other than the smashing, it doesn’t make much sense to buy one, especially with the huge numbers produced. This is definitely a wait and see bead. Wait to see what’s inside and wait to see if they start getting unloaded by others for less. As satisfying as that smashing seems, what is the $ value of that momentary sensation.

        • endangeredtrolls

I think it’s hard to predict and much of that popularity is ultimately going to depend on the design. I think Bead of the Month charms are what I’m most contacted about (people asking if I’ll sell mine or if they know where they can find one.) 1111 still isn’t a lot globally I don’t think – of course if it’s a design most people dislike it’s definitely a lot. If it’s a design that seems universally loved (like Luna?) then it’s still not going to satisfy the demand. Especially when you consider the greedier ones amongst us might go striving to collect each variation. (And how many versions are there?!)

I think the same applies to the value. A lot of the Bead of the Month designs have soared in value on the secondary market. Then there’s those still available long after (Weeping Warrior – still don’t understand why. Holy Ham…)

I have high expectations though. I just hope poor Ohm can live upto those expectations as hype can be a cruel thing!

          xoxo

  15. Lisa G

I have to add that I do admire Mike and Kit for their willingness to put it out there and take chances! It almost makes me want to buy the bead!

    • endangeredtrolls

I can’t wait for mine πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ But since it comes from abroad, I suspect I’m going to be pretty late discovering what’s in there :p

      xoxo
