Advent Calendar Day 3 – Ohm Beads Gift Box Review

As we’re now into December, I’m showcasing the best of the festive offerings from the larger charm and bead brands. Today’s jewellery blog article focuses on an adorable holiday charm from Ohm Beads; the Gift Box!

Just over a week ago, Pandora debuted their limited edition Black Friday charm for 2012. The charm design is that of a silver gift featuring red enamel detailing by way of a decorative ribbon.

Unfortunately for many, the Pandora Black Friday charms are limited to the US and Canadian market and stores are not permitted to ship outside of their geographical region. For those longing for this charm but unable to obtain it, the Ohm Gift Box bead might provide an appealing alternative. For those who have already acquired their Pandora Black Friday charm but would perhaps enjoy a complimentary bead, this is definitely worth considering.

For the benefit of those unfamiliar with Ohm Beads, they’re entirely compatible with most major charm brands, including Pandora.

Ohm Beads Gift Box Review

Ohm Beads offer a large variety of festive creations and this is one of my favourites. The bead is a simple silver gift box design boasting adorable and festively appropriate red crystals around ribbon details. A cute little gift tag finishes the design.

In regards to it’s size, Ohm Beads generally sit somewhere in between the relatively small Pandora charms and Trollbeads silver beads. A comparison with the Pandora silver present charm is seen below.

As the image shows, the Ohm Beads Gift Box is quite a bit taller than the Pandora silver present charm. The top of both charms features a typical decorative bow. On the Ohm Beads charm this is actually constructed of small strips of silver and this really adds to the detailing of this design.

The red crystals on this design actually help make it quite a focal design and it would make a lovely centre piece for your festive bracelets. It also makes the perfect accompaniment to the Trollbeads limited edition Sweet Christmas kit.

The vibrant red crystals suit the traditionally festive hues of the new Trollbeads glass kits.

Ohm Beads Gift Box Conclusion

This is a really cheerful and fun Christmas bead and definitely one of my favourite charms from the Ohm Beads festive collection. It has a beautiful splash of holiday colour and sparkle by way of the red crystals. I’m confident that this bead would make a beautiful compliment to the Pandora Black Friday 2012 charm. Now if only my own photographs were of the quality of the image kindly provided by Ohm below…

      Hi Lu 🙂

      Thanks for the comments 🙂

Both the Christmas Tree and the Snowflake are also Ohm Beads. They’ll be featuring over the next week 🙂

      Kind Regards

    Victoria,
Love the charm looks like a grown up present while the Pandora one seems childish. Maybe you could broker an alliance between Perlen and Omh.
Also who makes the snowflake to the right and the tree to the
left between the two Troll beads.

      Hi Angela 🙂

Haha it seems these silvers are generating some interest 😉 They’re both by Ohm Beads and they will both feature during the course of the Advent Calendar articles. Oh and there’s a couple of others that are equally yummy 😉 Lots of come from Ohm!

      Kind Regards
      Victoria

    Victoria,
The tree looks very interesting a few of those Snowflakes sprinkled on a bracelet would be a fun look. Wonder how it stacks up with the one from Troll and Pandora, if you have the 3 could you do a comparison?

Sure I am not the only one who has loved being able to shop one stop and combine purchases from different lines on Perlen and to use Paypal to pay. To some it may not be a big deal to visit other sites to establish an account and pay but I like the convenience Perlen offers. I am hoping Paxsuz beads and Ohm will join Perlen or some other single outlet … ANY input you have to encourage or introducing them and Perlen would be greatly appreciated.

Not just that I am lazy, but having info out there at a zillion sites is not desirable.

      Hi Angela 🙂

The Ohm Christmas tree is lovely – I’m hard pressed to decide on my favourite Christmas tree charm. Rest assured in the reviews of these charms, full comparisons are given between all the brands 🙂

In regards to Ohm’s European availability – they haven’t really expanded into the European market yet so that might be something you see in the future. I agree that it’s nice to have a selection of beads and charms from one retailer but so far Ohm have focused primarily on the USA and Canada. Maybe next year though and I’ll definitely recommend Perlen to them 🙂

      Kind Regards
      Victoria

    Hi Victoria,

Hope you are well and thanks for another great review.

I totally agree with Angela’s comments re Pandora’s charm versus the Ohm.

I love this charm, and I also loved the Ohm glass beads you reviewed a little while ago, based on rivers I think?

Unfortunately, when I looked at the Ohm website all the retailers in the UK didn’t seem to stock these glass beads, and the stock they did have seemed very similar to Chamilia style charms (not my personal cup of tea). So I dismissed Ohm beads as ones I would want to collect.

I think based on Victoria’s latest luscious review that I need to take another look at Ohm, and it would be truly wonderful if Perlen were to stock them.

    Best wishes,
    Debra

      Hi ladies,

I’ll ensure the powers that be over at Ohm see this 😉 I think it’s a terrible shame that they aren’t more widely available in Europe so let’s hope that increased interest here urges them on a little! Such lovely comments are sure to make them more inclined anyway!

      Kind Regards
      Victoria

        Victoria,
My Sister living in Jamaica has started reading your blog, she is going crazy over the Ohm present and snowflake charm. Is the Ohm tag loose or fixed to the charm?
This particular style gift box presentation evokes wonderful memories. Years back I had a few gift stores and I used a similar gift packaging . Maybe its just us but in our opinion ( even though I bought the Pandora charm) compared to the Ohm package Pandora dosen’t feel that special.

        • endangeredtrolls

          Hi Angela 🙂

The tag on the Ohm Beads Gift Box is fixed. There’s two sides to this I think. While the tag on the Pandora Black Friday charm IS adorable, Leann at Charms Addict mentioned she’d heard of some people having problems with it dropping off 🙁 It’s attached via a small hook as opposed to being fully soldered down so it seems that if it wiggles it’s way to a certain angle, it can then drop off 🙁

Ohm have an amazing collection of festive beads – they’re smaller than Trollbeads – more on par with Pandora but they’re quite detailed. That said, the Gift Box is quite a large charm and it’s really lovely “in the flesh” (so to speak.)

Leann was kind enough to send me the Pandora Black Friday charm so I’m going to do a review of it and then a comparison with the Ohm Beads Gift Box to give all you ladies an idea of the two together 🙂

          Kind Regards
          Victoria

Santa Leann has been very busy.Glad she sent you the Pandora gift box charm.Really want to see.the real comparison. The big selling point for the Pandora charm was the tag being able to dangle.Without the cute dangle tag then what is the point?
