Ohm Beads Faceted Dichroic CustOhms Live Images

This Ohm Beads blog brings live images of the newly debuted Ohm Beads Faceted Dichroic CustOhms.

During October the second batch of Ohm Beads CustOhms began arriving at retailers. These were the batch two designs that we’d seen previews of back in August.

These designs are both faceted and dichroic, thus explaining the higher price tag of $70 retail.

Ohm Beads Faceted Dichroic CustOhms

Anyone who follows my personal profile on Facebook will know I’ve had quite a battle with these beads. They absolutely are dichroic but it’s only visible when the light strikes at certain angles. Evidently those angles do not include anything shining directly onto them. Nevertheless they are very pretty. Depending on their colour, they also feel incredibly festive. Obviously it hasn’t yet been unveiled as to whether there will be any Ohm Beads Christmas glass but if not, these designs will be a perfect option.

My personal favourite is the Ohm Beads Purple Spirit. It’s a subtle colour and this is the shade I’ve had most luck in capturing the dichroic shimmer on those silver inclusions. Though the colours of some of this new batch coordinate perfectly with the batch one shades, Purple Spirit is more lilac than the Seeded Fig.

The Ohm Beads Blue Harmony has proven another popular shade and this is such a perfect winter bead.

The Ohm Beads Red Life appeared briefly on my Halloween bracelet but is a lovely tinsel bead for the festive season. I still continue to believe that Seeded Dragon Fruit is the ultimate Christmas glass for this year however.

The Ohm Beads Healing Orange is a near perfect match to the Seeded Papaya that preceded it.

I always struggle to style yellows but I’ve worn the Seeded Rolinia frequently. The Yellow Sunlight is a near identical shade.

Finally is the Ohm Beads Nature Green and again this has so much potential for the Christmas season.

Ohm Beads Faceted Dichroic CustOhms Summary

These beads are so pretty and I am so very frustrated that I haven’t yet managed to capture those dichroic inclusions properly. For those of you looking for Christmas glass, do consider these as they’re so bright and cheerful for the season.

As always I love to hear from my readers. What are your thoughts on the new Ohm Beads CustOhms? Hit the comments and let me know!

I absolutely love these. My favorites are the citrus-colored ones (orange, yellow, and green). I think they look wonderful together. I don’t care for the purple one. I would have preferred a grapier shade.

Wonderful as these beads are, they do seem very pricey. I’m not really seeing why. Maybe a little more because of the facets, but $70 seems hard to justify. I do love them anyway. A lot.

I totally understand but there is an issue here and I’m going to say it at the risk of offending some people. I actually don’t want to offend anyone as I’m having the same problem but here it is. One of the unique points about these beads is that they’re dichroic. No one has yet successfully captured that in images.

After a LOT of experimentation, I finally managed to get a camera / lens / lighting set up that captures it… but I didn’t have a tripod with me so the images aren’t in focus. I’ve tried LED lights. I’ve tried specialist gemstone lights. I’ve back lit, I’ve direct lit, I’ve diffused… I used matte backgrounds, high shine.. black, white and nothing was picking up the dichroic elements.

Ohm’s stock images don’t capture it either. So we have sparkly beads and we’re all struggling to show the sparkle. That’s sort of a problem.

So between the faceting and the dichroic, we get the $70 price. Obviously whether they’re worth it or not is a personal issue for everyone (like anything) but it’s sure frustrating that the unique point of these beads is proving so difficult to capture 🙁

I bought four of these beads and am very happy with them. As depicted in all your photos and in person, they are sparkly, vibrant, and also highly versatile. I don’t regret my purchase, but the price was very high, for glass beads.

I’m so pleased you like them. It’s been a little frustrating because of course we have the benefit of seeing them in person but they just aren’t translating well to image. I’ve had a couple of conversations that have been:-

      “Why are they $70 though?”
      “They sparkle!”
      “But they don’t”
      “I swear they do”
      “Well where?”

And of course I sympathise but they are truly, really, so pretty

When it comes to party season glass these are definitely a top contender 😀
