Launching on Monday is the Ohm Beads April 2019 collection which is particularly glass heavy this time around. As part of the release is the new Ohm Beads Building Blocks Collection of glass, inspired by elements. These are barrel shaped glass, each retailing at $45 and they are not limited edition.

These glass vary enormously and that feels really apt. After all if you’re creating a representation of elements such as fire, consistency feels a little off. Obviously this could still be an annoyance to some collectors but it does feel right.
It’s worth noting that Water-Ation isn’t pictured in this editorial, apologies for that.
From the previews I had assumed my favourite of this set would be the new Ohm Beads Metal-Ation. I think it still might be but I’ll explain further down. Metal-Ation is going to have enormous variation and it feels quite organic. From some images it almost looks like it should be textured but it isn’t, the glass is entirely smooth. It does have purple undertones.
My second favourite and somewhat of a surprise is the Ohm Beads Wood-Ation. I’ll be honest, I don’t feel it’s organic enough to represent wood but that doesn’t stop it from being a lovely bead. It reminds me more of candy however but could also possibly be used on coffee themed bracelets.
A very popular design based on the pre-orders is the Ohm Beads Fire-Ation. These vary in regards to how much yellow you’ll find in the beads.
Lastly (ignoring the missing Water-Ation,) is the Ohm Beads Earth-Ation. Once again I’m not sure I look at this and see earth, I would have personally opted for a darker shade but I suspect this could prove very versatile over the summer months.
Ohm Beads Building Blocks Glass Summary
I’m always happy to see more Ohm Beads glass. Following a period we had where it all retired suddenly, I still welcome any new glass they release. (In fairness, that’s now over a year ago and there’s been plenty since.)
I think a lot of collectors are going to enjoy the Building Blocks series but do keep in mind the variation you’re likely to see.
