Novobeads Summer 2013 Preview

This Novobeads blog brings a complete preview of the Novobeads Summer 2013 collection. It brings new silver charms, on trend rose gold and a new, contemporary way to wear your charms.

We’re now well into the summer season and the last of the new collections to be unveiled is the Novobeads Summer 2013 release. This collection features both on trend and seasonally appropriate pieces. We see a splash of rose gold making it’s appearance, completely inline with the jewellery trend for 2013. Arguably the highlight of the release are a new collection of silk wraps, designed to offer a contemporary and chic way to wear your beloved beads.

Novobeads Summer 2013

The collection consists of five new silk wraps in a beautiful tropical feeling palette. I’ll admit that I’m hoping this is merely the start of a new range and additional colours will appear for the new season. In addition comes the new Novobeads Crystal Macaroons in six different combinations. Finally are four silver charms.

Novobeads Silk Wraps

The new Novobeads Silk Wraps boast a beautiful palette of shades, including some exquisite tie-dye. Tie-dye fashion has seen an enormous return to trend for summer 2013 so those looking for a super chic way to display their beads should definitely consider these. The wraps will naturally be lightweight and provide an alternative to heavy silver charm bracelets. Each wrap features a tiny silver branded detail and retails at an incredibly appealing $14.

These are ideal for those coveting the boho-chic vibe but will look equally stunning worn stacked with the likes of Noosa Amsterdam bracelets. They’re absolutely perfect for the summer festival season and given the opportunity, I’d buy the complete set!

Novobeads Crystal Macaroons

I adore the new Novobeads Crystal Macaroons. These are quite small charms with an apt macaroon shape. Each side is adorned with tiny crystals in an array of shades. At the start of 2013, I featured rose gold as the prevalent jewellery trend for 2013. Showing an absolute awareness of current trends, Novobeads have opted to include two rose gold plated charms with a choice of crystals. Each of the Novobeads Crystal Macaroons retails at just $19.

Novobeads Summer 2013 Ordering Details

Novobeads operate their own online store and offer global shipping. The new Novobeads Summer 2013 collection is available immediately and clicking on the link below will open the landing page in a new window:-

Unfortunately for European collectors, this brand isn’t represented outside of the USA and Canada yet. While the online store will ship anywhere, this does leave us at risk of heavy import taxes and handling fees.

Novobeads Summer 2013 Summary

I’m really enthusiastic about this release. The last time I spoke to the Novobeads marketing team, they promised me something exciting for the summer season; a new way to wear charms and beads. I’d given some time to pondering precisely what this could mean but honestly, I’d not considered silk wraps. Obviously silk wraps aren’t a new thing in the jewellery world. Indeed they’ve exploded in popularity over the course of the last couple of years. Many of them aren’t really designed to wear charms or beads however. I love that Novobeads have taken this direction. In such an overpopulated market, it’s difficult to come up with new ideas to present to veteran collectors but I feel they’ve managed this.

The timing of the release is perfect; these are ideal for the festival season. As I mentioned earlier in the article however, I’d love to see further colours released for the fall season. I’m a huge fan of really deep sumptuous purples and reds and can visualise these wraps in precisely such shades. If you’re a boho-chic girl, these are a perfect addition to your daily style. If you like to sport current trends, the tie-dye fabrics are utterly vogue for summer. If you just like seasonal practicality, these are super light for the heat.

Overall I think it’s a wonderful release and I’m only saddened by the lack of presence the brand currently has in Europe.

As always I love to hear from my readers. What are your thoughts on the Novobeads Summer 2013 collection? Any favourites or must haves? Hit the comments and let me know!

How gorgeous!! I think I’d go with the Summer Sea and Wild Rose wraps first…but to be honest they’re all lovely and it’s a brilliant idea πŸ˜€

Do you know anything about the fastening of these at all? I can’t see any obvious silver ends so I’m wondering if RBF/TBs would fit…silk can compress really well so as long as the beads fit over the ends, these would be a great option for me. I can see quite a few of my collection looking delicious on them…

Interesting that Novobeads have also released a dolphins bead – it does look strikingly similar to TBs, and I’m sure I’ve seen another brand with one like it as well. I suppose there’s a limit to how best to show a dolphin, but it would be interesting to see a different take.

    Roll on payday…

Aren’t they just divine?! I’m with you, I love all the wraps and I’d happily buy the lot – particularly given the price point πŸ™‚

I don’t know anything about the fastenings at the moment but Novobeads are fully compatible with both Trollbeads and Redbalifrog. The company behind Novobeads were the former US distributors for Trollbeads so they quite deliberately made everything fully compatible πŸ™‚

You’re right, there are a couple of brands with Dolphins very similar to this, including Trollbeads and Munio (http://www.munioshop.com/178/k/silver-charms/p/dolphins-in-100-recycled-silver/cp/dolphins-in-100-recycled-silver/?tx_commerce_pi1%5BattList_62_changed%5D=0)

I’ve known many collectors dislike the new Trollbeads Dolphins due to the rather oversized eyes so perhaps this will provide those with an alternative.

      Kind Regards
      Victoria

      • Bethany

Woohoo!!! That’s fantastic news about the compatibility πŸ˜€ I rather like a couple of their braided leather bracelets too…

Wish they’d promote it on their website…I’ve ummed and aaahed for ages!

  2. Mars

Oooh would definitely be interested in these, like you would love deeper colours as well but I really like some of these, will keep an eye out for more details. Good to know they’re troll compatible!

    • endangeredtrolls

      Hi Mars πŸ™‚

I’d love to see some deep berry shades for the fall so I really hope this is a concept that Novobeads choose to develop further. Yep, wholly compatible with Trollbeads πŸ™‚ Makes a change right? πŸ˜‰

  3. Bethany

    Oooooo…deep aubergine…chocolate brown…deep forest green…yum…yum… πŸ˜‰

    • endangeredtrolls

Precisely! They’d lend themselves perfectly to such tones and they could even throw in some more of the tie-dye effects to keep that slightly boho feel.

Okay, I’m a bit in love with this idea πŸ˜‰

      Kind Regards
      Victoria

    • endangeredtrolls

Ohhh can I have an aubergine and cream tie-dye wrap pleeeease! πŸ˜€

      • Bethany

How about aubergine through to old gold? The silvers would look ace – very medieval… πŸ˜€

        • endangeredtrolls

Oh that’s a lovely idea and very autumnal!

*Squeal* I really hope that they do expand this range. Oh and it would be awesome if a European retailer would pick them up too πŸ™

          • Mars

Oooh those colourways all sound lovely!

          • endangeredtrolls

It seems there’s a lot of enthusiasm for these silk wraps πŸ™‚

  4. Mars

Ouch, just checked shipping costs, cheapest to UK is $11.40… πŸ™

    • endangeredtrolls

Yes πŸ™ A European retailer is desperately needed for Novobeads πŸ™

I just keep hoping that the more exposure they get, the more chance there is of a retailer picking them up πŸ™

  5. Debbie

    Hi Victoria,

Love the silk wraps and Twilight is my favourite, although like others would love to see deeper, darker colours in the range. Do you think the ends are just tied with knots? I know nothing about silk wraps although I think several brands offer them.

The macaroons are fabulous, especially the rose gold ones πŸ™‚

I agree on a European retailer – shipping costs plus import charges mean it works out quite expensive to ship from the States. Such a shame as there is a lot of Novobeads that I would love to get πŸ™‚

    /hugs

    • endangeredtrolls

I’m assuming at this point that the ends are tied off. I’m hoping to get my hands on one so I’ll let you know.

The macaroons are great – and I love the real thing – so I’m rather keen on these πŸ˜‰

Unfortunately most Trollbeads retailers aren’t inclined to pick up Novobeads due to the history between the two brands πŸ™ It might need to be a store not associated with Trollbeads I think πŸ™

      /hugs

  6. Ashley

Hey! I’m on vacation but I just couldn’t stay away too long, I had to catch up on what all I’ve been missing here, Victoria!! πŸ™‚

I’ve never gotten anything from Novobeads but I just love this layered, different textures type of bracelet and the colors are beautiful! And the rose gold charms is an added bonus!! As soon as I get home I’ve gotta figure out which color silk wrap I must have! πŸ™‚

Hope all is going great for you, Victoria! πŸ˜‰

    XOXO

    • endangeredtrolls

      Hi Ashley!

I hope you’re having a fabulous holiday! You lucky lady!

The silk wraps are fab right? I love those rose gold macaroons also but like you I’m pretty bias to a touch of rose gold πŸ˜‰ Keep in touch about which colour you decide πŸ˜‰

      /hugs

      Enjoy your holiday πŸ™‚

  7. rainey

Ooooooh! The Adirondack chair is soooo cute! I notice it hangs upside down but I wouldn’t even care. It’s adorable.

Based on your first photo I was anticipating new CZs. The blue one with the purple flashes looks sensational. Do you happen to know which one that is? Gotta have it!

    • endangeredtrolls

      Hi rainey πŸ™‚

Always lovely to hear from you and I hope the gardening is still going well (mine resembles a jungle ;))

I do indeed know which it is. It’s the Old Glory Blue CZ that you can find here – http://www.novobeads.com/product/Old-Glory-Blue-CZ_7117.aspx

      Kind Regards
      Victoria

      • rainey

Thanks for that tip, Victoria. I already have Old Glory. It’s a lovely blue but I can’t say I’ve appreciated that complex and attractive purple in mine tho it may be time to take it out in good sunlight and see if I’ve been missing it. Since our Independence Day is coming up next week the timing is perfect!

I really do have a soft spot for the complex colors Novo is able to achieve.

My garden has also become a jungle. …of unripe tomatoes. I’m thinking any day they should start ripening up and I’ll be one happy girl! ;>

Rest assured I’m still reading on a regular basis. Just taking a break from beads until something excites me again. That Adirondack chair is trying hard to. ;>

  8. Aoibheann

I’ve been wearing my TBs with a self-made silk ribbon for quite some time now and I love it. It’s nice to see that Novobeads has adopted that idea. There are just so many possibilities for wearing! πŸ™‚ I bought my hand-dyed ribbon from either DaWanda or Etsy, which may be an alternative for my fellow European bead addicts. The best thing is, most of the artists at DaWanda and Etsy take requests and create custom made ribbons, so you should be able to get an aubergine gold colored ribbon, or any other autumnal shade πŸ˜€

    • endangeredtrolls

      Hi πŸ™‚

Dip dying is pretty easy to do by yourself also, albeit a little messy and honestly, it’s probably easier and barely more expensive to buy it from an artisan as you mentioned πŸ™‚ But for any of the arty readers it’s quite good fun πŸ™‚

I love that Novobeads have launched these as they offer something a bit different. The charm and bead market has a really passionate community. I was asked at Copenhagen Fashion Week whether I thought the bubble had burst for the charm bracelets. Honestly I think while they’re going to drift in and out of actual fashion, there are so many ardent collectors across the brands that will continue to fuel the brands. That said, for me anything that brings a change in the way beads can be worn is a really good thing as the traditional silver bracelet can feel a bit dull at times.

      Kind Regards
      Victoria

      • Aoibheann

Yes, I completely agree with you, having so many different ways of wearing my treasures, aside from the classic silver bracelet, is one of the main reasons TB and all the others won’t get old for me πŸ™‚
