Nightmare Before Christmas Charm Bracelet Starring the Ohm Beads Sugar Sleigh Ride

This charm jewellery blog showcases my attempt at a Nightmare Before Christmas charm bracelet for Halloween 2014. It stars the newly debuted limited edition Ohm Beads Sugar Sleigh Ride.

When I first saw the Ohm Beads autumn winter 2014 release schedule I was utterly baffled by the inclusion of the Sugar Sleigh Ride for September. Christmas collections seem to be creeping earlier each year but September seemed quite ridiculous. Of course it ultimately transpired that the Ohm Beads Sugar Sleigh Ride celebrates three different holidays with elements of Christmas, Halloween and Thanksgiving drawn together. It has particular appeal for lovers of Tim Burton and specifically Nightmare Before Christmas.

The charm clearly held enormous appeal for collectors as it sold out with Ohm Beads and most of their authorised retailers in just one week. Some stocks are remaining at my authorised retailers so as always if you wish to purchase any of the charms used here, links are available in the bead index at the end of the article.

Nightmare Before Christmas is my favourite movie and while I did attempt a bracelet embracing this theme before, it wasn’t perfect. Whenever I tackle a theme that is particularly important to me, I get a little bit nervous to try and create something really special. I’m still not 100% set on this combination but I do feel that it’s better than my last attempt!

Sugar Sleigh Ride isn’t a huge charm. Ohm Beads are more comparable in sizing to Pandora than Trollbeads but this never deters me from mixing the brands. The detailing is wonderful and the passengers of the sleigh can be seen clearly.

When it comes to creating a Nightmare Before Christmas bracelet, the Ohm Beads Jack-O-Lantern is a perfect representation of Jack Skellington. The shape and expression of this charm matches Jack wonderfully. The Ohm Beads Death Barrels collection delivered Striped Suit, here acting as Jack’s iconic pinstripe suit. Admittedly I would have preferred two of these beads to sit either side of the Jack-O-Lantern.

I’ll admit I went a little bit crazy for the Exclusive Midnight Skies glass precisely with this bracelet in mind. I supplemented it with a selection of Elfbeads in the ocean colour. Also making an appearance is one of the Christmas Tree beads from the new Trollbeads Christmas 2014 release.

The Ohm Beads Love Hurts represents Sally and Jack’s relationship (as they were quite the troubled souls initially.)

Finally the new Trollbeads Bow Lock is the finishing touch.

I know how much this theme means to you, Victoria, and you must have a blast dreaming up combinations for the film!! I agree – MORE black & white stripes! 🙂

I think so too Faye :< Hopefully I have another on it's way shortly. Not that it helps with this! 😉 Happy Halloween 🙂 xxx

Love the colours on this bracelet. I have not got the Sugar sleigh its just not for me.

    • endangeredtrolls

I can absolutely understand it’s not for everyone. It was the Nightmare Before Christmas reference that made it a must have for me.

I’m glad that you like the colours though 🙂

Love this bracelet combo Victoria! Still looks great with just the 1 striped glass, it makes it sort of a focal point with all of the other glass being blue.

I usually like to make everything symmetrical so I have to confess this really annoyed me a little bit. On the other hand I think it’s good for me to break away from symmetrical bracelets and my constant glass-silver-glass-silver “thing” 😉

Yeah, I can relate, I buy all of my glass in pairs too. Actually the only glass I can think of where I don’t have a pair is the Elfbeads dragon, but I actually don’t mind for that one, I either put it in center or end next to clasp. I usually have them like a mirror image from the center of a bracelet (1234-middle-4321), but sometimes I do 1234-middle-1234.

WOW, GREAT bracelet! LOVE it. Good Job.

Really like this who would have though Blues would work so well for Halloween. The Ohm Murano looks good as a focal though I am hung up on symetry, have to check this movie out. A few weeks back Victoria featured the Chamilia 2014 Halloween set I liked the Over the Moon and the fantastic Murano, did not get the set then as was not too sure about size etc. or how it would play with other charms. Love this in fact just bought the Chamilia Halloween 2014 kit for a really fantastic price ,I find Skulls scary not into them at all but think I’ll gift it to my Sister as she has been wanting one.

But gee Victoria see what you have done? Me buying something with a Skull .. pinching myself as I cannot believe I have done such a thing. Explaining my purchase to myself and Hubby this way.. I did not actually buy it, only bought the Over the Moon charm and the Murano the Skull thing like the box came free, he has rolled his eyes and said I have totally gone over the edge nuts he believes 1) I bought the Skull and 2) I will be bemoaning the empty spot in the gift box if I give it away and 3) Since I bought the charm… 🙁 I might as well keep it tucked away as it is a set.I say not nuts as it was free …free.. free gift with purchase. LOL he just does not understand how these things work.

    Hi Victoria,

I bought the Ohm bead Sugar Sleigh Ride, and I love it. I wore it on a black leather bracelet turned necklace with a few orange and black uniques. It looked great.

    Regards,
    Martha

I really enjoy your themed bracelets and this one is truly fab!
I am also a huge fan of this animated picture and your bracelet really captures the gist of the story.
I agree with previous comments about your choice for colour scheme.
I really like your use of Ohm’s Love Hurts here. I have also just remembered that this is also available on a limited bases and that maybe this is something I should consider buying.
I’ve been catching up on ALL your posts while nibbling on Hallowe’en candy. 😉

OT. I saw Chamilia’s Christmas release and it is very good. The Twelve Days gift set (my local jeweller had one) is fantastic! The attention to detail is excellent.
