New Size of Trollbeads Carved Amber Beads

This Trollbeads blog alerts readers to new size (and prices) for the Trollbeads Carved Amber beads!

I have a couple of really big weaknesses when it comes to Trollbeads, as I suspect most collectors do. I adore amber which still amuses me on some level as it took me a long time to grow an appreciation of it. It now fascinates me. The fact it’s s old and any inclusions were preserved from such a distant past in our world’s history is beautiful to me. That aside it can be so very sparkly! While I’m now fortunate enough to be working with Trollbeads via Great Lakes, I am still a collector too.

Aside from marbled amber (which I think everyone knows I have a fondness for,) I love carved amber. Going back only a few years carved amber was beyond scarce and the only pieces out there were those gifted to retailers by Lise Aagaard. Slowly it’s become more of a speciality line for the brand though it’s availability phases in and out a little. For the past year or so it’s been available in two sizes; regular (retailing at $110) or giant (retailing at $275.) That’s a huge leap in price and though I’ve never questioned the value of the $275 pieces for myself (they really are huge,) I appreciate it’s an enormous investment.

Recently new sizes that sit between the regular and the giant versions have appeared and thus, new prices too. Great Lakes received some last week so I had the pleasure of photographing the beads. I didn’t have a huge amount of time with them as needless to say they’ve proven popular, but I did hopefully get some size comparisons.

Aside from the regular size at $110, there are now three additional sizes of Trollbeads Carved Amber. These are retailing at $125, $170, $220 and then of course the giant versions at $275. Both new and familiar designs have been seen in these sizes with Snakes and Dragons included in our latest delivery.

The $125 versions we received were actually larger than I’d assumed. Below I’ve included a comparison with the Trollbeads Willow Twigs to give an idea of the size.

Of the $170 versions we received, one was a beautiful leaf or feather style design and would look amazing with the spring 2018 collection. The second was the classic and much coveted snake.

The third versions at $220 are definitely large and there’s not a huge amount of difference in the size of these and the giant versions. The designs we received were the Balinese dragon and a new style of scales.

Trollbeads Carved Amber Summary

It’s impossible to give specific ordering links for these types of beads, much like with uniques. Great Lakes Boutique and Blooming Boutique have both had deliveries of the new ambers over the past week. There have also been more designs than are pictured here of course.

Of course carved amber is quite a specialised product and the higher retail prices clearly mean it’s aimed at amber fans. I do like that they have added tiers in between the small and the giant versions though, not just from the perspective of pricing but also the size. Some of the giant carved ambers are absolutely enormous and might not suit those with more petite wrists.

As always I love too hear from my readers. What are your thoughts on the new Trollbeads Carved Ambers and do you like the idea of additional sizing and prices? Hit the comments and let me know!

Love this new size and the price. Adore the yellow and orange ones – the lighter beads and they look great with Twigs! Your ideas are SO helpful. Thank you for all that you do!

I think it’s a really good idea to add more sizes. Admittedly one I’d never thought of either 😛 There’s such a huge size gap between the $110 version (and I’ve seen some of those that are barely larger than spacers) and the $275.) It actually makes complete sense!

You can find some really pale versions of the Willow Twigs where the detailing is more of a honey colour. Ohhh imagine a bracelet of those mixed with amber 😀

I feel like this was a much needed move by trollbeads to make. I have yet to purchase a specialty amber due to the price. I have such a list of expensive silvers, glass ect that I couldn’t imagine adding in any amber. Now this, to me, will help control the size and price much better. And helping customers feel better about their purchase. I know with all the price change yet again there will be some sour feelings. But it’s something we will all have to take with a grain of salt and look at the positives. Of course the us seems to have gotten the better half of the deal. I’m very much looking forward to how this all plays out for next year and hope to aquire some nicer pieces that are closer to my price range 😊 As for the new ambers I’m interested to see all the new designs. Each bead is a beautiful piece of art and deserve to be admired. I’d like to see a smaller dragon in the low $100s 🤗

I agree whole heartedly. Thinking about it, it’s an absolutely obvious move and yet still nothing I’d considered until we were offered new beads.

There are some new amber kits slooooowly tricking out that have faceted marbled ambers in them too. They look amazing! 😀

A few months ago I saw an image of a barrel shaped amber on social media, it was very different compared to the carved ones, it was a paler version with a couple stars embossed. It seemed to be close in size to an ohm barrel glass & it really caught my eye! Now I’ve been hunting for it, blooming boutique had one since only it had a dolphin… Have you seen these Victoria? They don’t seem to come around often & get snatched up so fast I’ll never have a chance 😒

    • endangeredtrolls

They were for events only 🙂 We had them too 🙂

I LOVE the orange and the yellow ones! You mentioned other designs; what are they and will GLB get them????😳😳😳

    • endangeredtrolls

It doesn’t work like that I’m afraid. You can’t specifically order these type of beads. Our current stock is online 🙂

  5. Gene

A Carved Amber Rose was on my wishlist since I first saw them on your blog. I didn’t really expect it to ever happen, but thanks to you and GLB it did…. And it’s a beauty! I would love to get a yellow one if I ever get the chance.

  6. Pippa

I love them all – I’ve always found amber fascinating and beautiful. I choose the feather to buy thinking it could work well with the spring collection.

  7. Alicia S

I love that there are more groupings for price. It makes a lot of sense to me.

I was lucky enough to see a bunch of the event ambers…while we were asked to be careful to return the ambers to the proper price rods, there were so many designs I had never seen! I missed seeing the cat, but there were peacocks, scorpions, dragons, snakes, flowers, feathers, different scales, so many others…impressive what they’ve done!

I’ll keep hoping for a black scales. There weren’t many dark ones that day.

  8. Marie

I keep thinking about the new amber pricing, which seems a wonderful move on Trollbeads behalf! I know I’ve seen some great carved ambers that were “regular” size that I just simply had to pass on at their jumbo size prices in the past. Hopefully this new pricing format puts that into the past. (I’d like to see the same happen with the bug ambers, making them more of a fun treasure hunt/find for those liking those.)

I must admit though, we’re going to need sorting size sheets to keep track of what each bead should be retailing at…. lol, airline luggage size check boxes for amber beads….
