Limited Edition Ohm Beads Kamasutra Preview (Bead of the Month September 2017)

This Ohm Beads blog brings a preview of the upcoming Ohm Beads Kamasutra, Bead of the Month for September 2017.

Last week we saw previews for most of the Ohm Beads September releases. To recap this included the limited edition Unicorny, Baby Argh, Chi Chi Sticks 2.0, Yellowstone and the Ohm Rings.

There was one rather glaring omission however; the Bead of the Month for September. Today brings the complete preview for the Ohm Beads Kamasutra. It will retail at $95, €86 or Β£77 and will launch on September the 1st. Six hundred and ninety six (696) have been produced.

Ohm Beads Kamasutra

Though the Hindu text of Kamasutra is most famed for it’s detailed descriptions and illustrations of sexual positions, that’s actually a small portion of it’s contents. It focuses enormously on how humans interact on a romantic level. Ohm have executed this bead as an openwork style, similar in size to Woodstock, comprised of couples in various positions.

Ohm Beads Kamasutra Pre-Ordering

Pre-orders for this bead begin immediately but please do note the release date of September the 1st. Below you’ll find links to all of my Ohm Beads retail partners. I’ll be editing these with precise product links (or removing them entirely,) once stores begin to list their stock.

Ohm Beads Kamasutra Summary

With this unveiling, the line up for September is complete! The next release date is August the 1st for Sol and then August the 2nd for the remaining beads. For those of you who have been unable to secure Sol (and that’s most people,) do be aware that the Ohm Stuff Facebook page will be running a lottery for their own stock of beads.

The next preview date is August the 9th for the October Bead of the Month. August the 17th will be the preview for the main October releases and August the 8th is the brand’s Ohmversary (anniversary.)

Last night I performed a large database update to add all of the upcoming Ohm Beads. If you need instructions on using the database, you can find those here.

As always I love to hear from my readers. What are your thoughts on the Ohm Beads Kamasutra? Is this a must have for you? I know many of you are finding the earlier preview dates a little confusing so if there are any questions relating to those, shoot me a message below!

I have no idea how I feel about this bead… πŸ€” So I really don’t know if I’ll order it or not… I’ll have to think about it. I love the idea but I’m not sure I’d wear it a lot.
The preview (and pre-orders I assume) for the October bead of the month is August 9th?!!!!! That’s in two weeks!!! That’s more than a month and a half before its release in October!!!! That’s too much!!! One month is long enough but now this is getting ridiculous… Planning and budgeting is becoming more and more difficult with Ohm…

    • endangeredtrolls

Yeah we seem to be running about 6 weeks in advance on the previews I think? I know last week when the September releases were previewed, I had quite a few confused readers who thought they were out *now*.

I’m pretty sure they’re trying to help us budget with the earlier previews but unfortunately that seems to be coming at the cost of confusing people a little bit.

      xoxo

  2. Naomi

I like the idea of a love, peace and rock n roll bracelet. So this one will join my Woodstock bead and love kills- I will see about the rest, – maybe rainbow glas.

I am curious about the October Releases.. I hope there will be some Halloween related beads there.

    • endangeredtrolls

I love that idea! πŸ˜€ And I’m told the size is close to Woodstock πŸ˜€

The preview date for the general October releases is August the 17th so not too long to wait πŸ˜‰ <3

      xoxo

  3. Nadja

    Oh lΓ  lΓ !
Although I’m with Alexandra here: not sure if I would/could wear – certainly not suitable for my workplace.

I also share Alexandra’s sentiments on the very early pre-views and pre-orders. It will probably mean for me that I will just ignore the pre-views and not pre-order but see what’s (still) available when it’s available.

    • endangeredtrolls

I understand that. The previews are coming very early and it’s both good and bad. Ohm did say they were just testing the earlier previews though so perhaps it will all change back again πŸ™‚

      xoxo

  4. Samantha Cardimon

Well, if there’s a box sitting around somewhere, Ohm will think outside it. Lol! It’s rather like a piece of Victorian art that’s actually risquΓ©, but looks innocuous on the surface. Only when you look closely can you see what’s going on.

Or, if questioned, one could say it’s a Jackson Pollock-like piece of modern art. In any event, it’s a bold and cheeky BOTM. πŸ™‚ Good!

    • Elizabeth

This made me laugh out loud in my work cube. Love the box comment.

    • endangeredtrolls

Yes and it’s *that* sense of it looking quite innocuous until close inspection that I really like πŸ˜€ I think it’s very smartly executed πŸ˜€

      xoxo

  5. Faye

Not my cup of tea but I bet they had a great time designing it πŸ™‚

    • endangeredtrolls

Oh I bet! πŸ˜€ It’s actually kinda complex too πŸ™‚

      xoxo

    • Faye S.

      There is another Faye, cool!

      • endangeredtrolls

        There is! πŸ˜€

  6. Kim

I’m also trying to decide how I feel about this. I think on the whole I’m rather amused, and I certainly do enjoy Ohm’s audacity! But I don’t see myself wearing it either.
I don’t like such early pre-orders either. I don’t mind a slightly earlier preview, but I don’t want to pay for something that I won’t receive for another two months.

    • endangeredtrolls

I think that’s been a common complaint about the Bead of the Month designs too. Collectors are torn.. they don’t want to pay for something 6 weeks in advance but they don’t want to risk being unable to get it either.

I know some retailers allow you to reserve and pay later but I’m guessing not all will offer that.

      xoxo

      • Kim

Yes, that’s exactly it with the BOTM. I ordered the Sun Dragon because I didn’t want to risk losing out (lucky thing!). As far as the non-limited pieces, I don’t mind the early previews at all. I just wait until they’re released to order what I want. But that’s not really an option with the BOTM.

You know, the more I look at this the more it’s growing on me. I still don’t think I’d wear it though! And that’s a lot of money for something that would probably be stuck in a drawer 364 days of the year.

        • endangeredtrolls

So maaaaaaaybe some kind of compromise would be early previews but slightly later pre-orders? I wonder if that would get even more complicated though. BUT it would allow people to look at the limited designs, mull them over, maybe set aside funds and THEN pre-order? I have no idea :p

          xoxo

          • Kim

I’d be perfectly fine with that. And I’d actually appreciate some time to mull over the BOTMs before deciding whether to order. Some I’ve ordered right away, but others I’ve dithered over. I do rather regret dithering too long about Bunny Reaper – I kept saying, “Well, he’s awfully cute, but would I really wear him?” And now I wish I’d just got him.

          • endangeredtrolls

Yes I understand completely. I’ve been thinking over the idea this morning and I can’t decide if it’s great or even more complex.. Potentially we’d go from a preview date and a release date to.. a preview date, a pre-order date and a release date. You can bet some retailers would get confused and end up selling early.. but it could help collectors I think. They’d not feel that instant pressure to make a decision and that seems to be where quite a lot of the recent complaints are originating.

            xoxo

          • Kim

Yes, that’s exactly it. Since they’re sold in very limited numbers, most of the time it comes down to deciding whether to buy it now since it will probably be sold out tomorrow, and then after time for thought, thinking that maybe it wasn’t a must have after all, or not buying it and then regretting it later. Kind of similar to the Facebook stab and grab unique parties that several of the dealers were having a few years ago. And I participated, but I eventually got totally turned off Troll uniques, because who needs all that stress over trying to find the bead you want. And that did encourage over-spending, because if you don’t grab that bead right now, someone else will. I have a LOT of uniques sitting in my bead box that I don’t even really wear. I finally came to my senses and haven’t bought any in years, although I have seen some great designs.

  7. Gene

I’m going to pass on this one. As far as pre-orders go, I think a month in advance… at the most… is fine.

  8. Cheryl

    Cheeky!!!!

    • endangeredtrolls

      A little πŸ˜‰

      xoxo

    • Joanne B

A good companion to Moon Me, no doubt!

  9. Katie

I admit, I find the bead amusing, but I won’t be ordering it. I can’t figure out where I’d wear it. I can’t even imagine how mortified my daughters would be if I was wearing this bead and they got a close look of what was on it. I love their audacity, but I can’t justify the expense of a bead that I would rarely wear.
As far as early promos and pre-orders go, I don’t mind when they are early. Especially for releases that are limited. It gives me a chance to reorganize my list to purchase the limited beads and still stay in budget. That said, it has been so long since I’ve purchased the Sun Dragon, it will be a pleasant surprise when it arrives.

    • endangeredtrolls

Yeah to clarify I don’t mind the early previews at all but I think some people are struggling to keep track of what is coming when. I’m trying to work out if there’s a better way I can display upcoming releases but I’ve not found anything yet. I think some of my readers are getting confused because we have two months worth of previews.

As for the bead itself, I’m a huge fan πŸ™‚ I had a feeling it would be a love or hate bead and that’s fine and yes you’re right, given it’s price you do really need to love it πŸ™‚

      xoxo

      • Katie

Oh, don’t get me wrong. I actually really like the bead. I just don’t know if I’d ever have the nerve to wear the bead. Now, if it is still around in a bit and I have a chance to see how others are wearing it, I will be very tempted to buy it. But, for now, I’ll probably leave it to the braver souls.

        • endangeredtrolls

I think this is one that will be available for some time. Though I have said that before and been totally wrong πŸ˜‰ Hopefully you’ll have good time to make up your mind πŸ™‚

          xoxo

  10. Beth

I do like this bead. It’s so very wry and so very Ohm. I grinned when I saw the title and even more when I saw how it was executed. It’s clever and well-designed. I don’t think I’ll get this one at least for now. There are other new Ohm designs that I’d rather put my BOTM budget towards. There are so many now that I’d like to get! My Ohm wishlist keeps getting longer and longer. Baby Argh and Dancing Coyotes (they live in the forest beyond the lake I live on) are at the top of my list, with Moosing Around and UFO right there, too. And then there’s the True Beadz Dragon. Decisions, decisions!

    • endangeredtrolls

It’s very Ohm πŸ˜‰ But I do understand the massive wishlist issue too. September – for me at least – is a very strong round of releases. I’d love multiples of Unicorny as well. I think a lot of us struggling to juggle those wishlists and prioritise πŸ˜€

It’s been such a crazy year!

      xoxo

  11. noemi

I know I wouldn’t know how to wear this bead, so I will not be purchasing it.
I think the previews being too far in advance get confusing. I think one month in advance is fine, though anything Halloween can never be previewed too early. πŸ˜‰

    • endangeredtrolls

I think quite a lot of people are confused right now. I don’t object to early previews at all but I seem to be answering a lot of general questions about release dates and what’s coming when. I think having two months of previews is perhaps a little much for many people to keep track of.

OR, I just haven’t stumbled across a way yet to present the information so people can keep track suitably! πŸ˜€

      xoxo

      • Joanne B

How about a calendar grid? I think it would be easier to keep track of than just a list of the dates.

        • endangeredtrolls

I actually used to have a calendar plugin and no one used it. They complained it was easier to just look and see dates instead of click a calendar. Then I removed it and like 6 weeks later someone noticed it was gone πŸ˜€ I’ll give it some thought <3 πŸ™‚

          xoxo

  12. Gene

I was just thinking to myself that sometimes I have to wait awhile and see the bead used before I start to like it. I’m not too sure that’s going to happen with this one…but I’m looking forward to seeing how you style it, Victoria!

    • endangeredtrolls

I’ve heard a lot of people mention this regarding the Bead of the Month designs. That they prefer to sit and have a little time to think.. and of course with some of these charms, they’re gone in moments. Most last long enough to think about it but some? Poof! Gone!

I think stocks of this one will linger for a little time πŸ™‚ Not all will love it πŸ™‚

      xoxo

  13. Elizabeth

Got up at 3 looked and preordered after a chuckle of course! Nobody pays my beads any attention so I can wear it with a smile. I have bought the old Ohm Aquarius bead to go with Woodstock, hippy van, momma Terra, nonviolence and a few others. My little homage to the movie Hair and to the entire peace love and happiness culture I loved about the 60s. This bead will fit right in! Love it!

    • endangeredtrolls

Well the great thing about this bead is that from a distance, no one is likely to see what it actually is anyway πŸ˜‰ That part of it really entertains me πŸ˜‰

I like it! But I do appreciate not everyone will πŸ˜€

      xoxo

  14. Christina

I like it. Not sure I’m going to jump on pre-order right away. (I think I have a bit of time, with this number.) But I really like the design.
This bead does make me really want to get Woodstock, though, which I held off on. And I know that’s limited too and not sure how low stock is.

  15. Lynne

I’m going to pass on this bead. I don’t mind what it means but I have never liked human forms in my beads. I can never get past it. I don’t mind early previews but if I don’t have the funds available or don’t see the preview on these limited editions, I have missed them and I wonder if they just showed up on their release dates if I would stand a better chance.

    • Lynne

And I have to admit I did laugh though. I could just imagine if my daughter was still living at home and in her teens I would hear Ewwww mom That’s disgusting! And I would buy it just for the fun of hearing that. (Evil mom laugh)

      • endangeredtrolls

Love this comment πŸ˜‰ Isn’t it the prerogative of any mom to embarrass their kids at least a little? πŸ˜‰

        xoxo

    • endangeredtrolls

I understand that Lynne! I have the same thing with faces on beads.. I tend to find them a little bit creepy. I don’t like dolls either though.

      xoxo

  16. Nereida

Seems more like an orgy than the Kama Sutra. Plato’s Retreat would have been proud. I like the idea of it paired with Woodstock, but think I’ll still pass on it. Would have preferred Ukiyoe erotica. Less crude and classier.

    • endangeredtrolls

I’m sorry it’s not totally to your tastes but with all of the amazing releases recently – not to mention the fact that we’ll start to see autumn collections – it might be a relief anyway! πŸ˜€

      xoxo

  17. Carol L.

LOL, I showed my husband and of course got a “oh, cool get it”. I called him a pervert, said thanks I might, still thinking about it. He thinks it will be funny when someone looks at it and makes the “confused look” and asks if it really is what they think it is. Lol I think it will be around for awhile. I do like the comment that Ohm thinks outside the box and likes the risks.

    • Faye S.

Carol, hey Put it next to the potato and a boogly head, spreadlove or/and maybe brainiac or magic sight, and tell them they go together and watch the head tilt. ROTFL

  18. Lisa G

I won’t buy it because I have nowhere to wear it. I think the worst part for me is the price. I’d much rather buy other things with $95.

    • endangeredtrolls

Yes of course. It’s a focal piece which brings a higher price and obviously people then need to really love it to justify it <3

      xoxo

      • Faye

I was showing some OhmBeads to my husband last night including this one and other recent releases, he saw prices, he says (among a few other off-color remarks I can’t repeat), “Wow, $185 for sex and a baked potato.” as he waltzes away snickering. Not sure if he meant that was a good deal or expensive. LOL

        • Gene

          That is hysterical!!!

  19. MaLa SaHan

I know this is all in the Kamasutra, and that’s where I think it belongs and in the bedroom of those who practice accordingly, but on a bead for a bracelet or neck chain – I don’t like that idea at all. But Ohm beads are known for being cheeky with some of their designs.

    • endangeredtrolls

They are indeed known for that but the kamasutra does go far beyond the physical act of sex but that said.. that’s the part Ohm did choose to focus on anyway.

I’m sure there’ll be something more to your taste in the next previews πŸ™‚

      xoxo

  20. Nick

I think it’s horrid, tasteless and could make the wearer seem creepy, especially if kids (who generally have great eyesight and curiosity for detail) can see it.

    • endangeredtrolls

Sorry you dislike it so much. Hopefully there’ll be something for you in the next round of previews πŸ™‚

      xoxo

      • Nick

I’ve already got a big Ohm wishlist!

  21. Samantha Cardimon

You know, the more I think about this bead, the more I think it would be great on an “American Gods”-themed bracelet. It could represent the character Bilquis. *wheels now spinning in head to plot new bracelet*

    • Beth

When I read your comment, I was immediately struck by your idea, Samantha. It’s brilliant. I can’t wait to see your completed bracelet.
