Huge Ohm Beads Retirement Confirmed for November 2018

This Ohm Beads blog brings confirmation of a huge Ohm Beads retirement scheduled for 2018.

There has become somewhat of a tradition for an annual Ohm Beads retirement in November of each year. 2018 is set to be a little different however. Many of you on social media may have already seen the news from a couple of days ago. Ohm Beads have announced that in November 2018 “almost all” beads produced during 2017 or earlier will be retired.

Ohm Beads Retirement 2018

Obviously this is a massive cull, particularly when you consider that a decent number of their 2018 designs have also been limited editions. Standard collection beads so far this year have included the Pteranodon Skull, the plain silver Melting Heart, Sherlock Gnomes, No Evil Sheep, Trainwreck, Sunflowers, Wood Ent, Peach and the new rings.

Their announcement did state almost all pre-2018 designs so it will be interesting to see if this leaves behind actual beads and charms or if it purely accounts for bracelets, bangles and necklaces. Regardless it’s a scary prospect!

They have given plenty of notice which is good because wishlists could be potentially sizable. It could be worth starting to at least plan any must have designs and thus budget for them, remembering of course that new designs and possibly new limited edition designs will debut between now and November. That could require some financial planning and organisation.

As always I love to hear from my readers. What are your thoughts on the new of the Ohm Beads retirement 2018? Have you already identified some beads you need before then? Hit the comments and let me know!

Thank you for the warning!! I have been busy purchasing the limited editions and the BOTMs. Now, I know that I really need to look at the ‘normal’ beads. Pteranodon Skull is at the top of my list, but I’ll need to review them all. At least there is time to plan.

The Pteranodon Skull was 2018 so shouldn’t be leaving 🙂 Don’t worry about that one for now 🙂

Great. Nice to know that I have a bit of time. Wings of Amber has proved way too tempting….

A typo wishlist will be made today! The typewriter to go with them will be on it, too!

I think a lot of collectors are hoping that the Typo collection will be exempt but I think it will be a long wait to find out 🙁

        I am hopeful, I have 16 more letters! 😲

I’m certainly hoping it is staying!!! Typo is so useful and I’m always thinking of new words to spell 🙂

Other than Typo the collection I most think they should keep going is RAWR – it really is so well done and is different but still with wide appeal. They have added and subtracted to RAWR and it would be cool if they continued – we just got the new pteranodon skull so they could retire a couple skulls and still have 3, at some point make another and retire another, some with the supporting pieces.

Another idea I like is keeping a number of “Ohm Classics” in productions, off the top of my head, I nominate Chainsaw Dude, Mr. Gnome and Narwal.

But I will say there are quite few beads for which retirement is good – though it is a matter of personal taste – two that I bought from online pics and was disappointed in were Owl and Conch, there are just so many different owl and conch beads out there that I like more.

I also hope they keep some of the existing Stoppers, Locks & Safety Chains – or give us new ones first – as these serve important functions.

          Narwhal retired last year……………..

          • Pippa

            Opps! Poor Narwhal.

Dancing Wolves from the Yellowstone collection is #1 on my list, and the sunflowers…

Sunflowers is 2018 so shouldn’t be leaving 🙂

  4. Nereida

And still lots of time before they even retire 😀

  5. Anna

Thank you for this! I have to order them from states and I have a limit due to customs restrictions in my country, so I’m shifting between ohm and trollbeads from month to month. Will order more from ohm now.

      You are most welcome 🙂
