Who You Gonna Call? Ghostbusters! Halloween Charm Bracelet Inspiration

This charm jewellery blog brings my latest Halloween charm bracelet inspiration with a Ghostbusters themed bracelet. It stars Elfbeads, Chamilia, Ohm Beads, Pandora and Trollbeads on a true fusion bracelet.

I’ve spent years reviewing Halloween beads and charms and creating themed bracelets for the season. For 2014 I’ve been determined to stray a little further from the typical designs and colour schemes into more unusual ideas. Given I adore Halloween I’ve also have immense fun doing so.

I’m an 80s child and have fond memories of a number of quite iconic movies that I grew up with. Titles that spring to mind are Gremlins (on my “must watch” list every Christmas,) E.T (made my dad cry,) Labyrinth (still one of my favourite movies) and of course Ghostbusters. I’ve always been incredibly close to my dad and I can’t even guess the number of times we’ve sat and watched these movies so they hold really fond memories for me.

This bracelet all but created itself rather than me sitting down with a theme in my mind. It’s perhaps a little odd but I absolutely adore it. Remember as always if you wish to purchase any of the beads used in this bracelet, there’s an index and ordering links at the end of the article.

Often when I’m creating a series of articles, such as the ones for Halloween, I’ll begin with an enormous pile of beads and slowly begin pushing them into themes. The themes can be colours, motifs or perhaps even an idea as things begin to progress. These beads came together following my Blackbeard’s Haunted Ship bracelet. I was staring at a small group of spooky themed beads (ghosts and demon looking creatures primarily) and glow in the dark glass. I’ve mentioned in the past that the Trollbeads Inner Glow has an almost gelatinous look to it, even in the light and that led to a Ghostbusters themed bracelet.

The moment I settled on the theme the focal piece was decided. The Elfbeads Eternity is a relatively new addition to my collection but I adore Paul’s contemporary flowing designs. Why was it included? “Don’t cross the beams!”

From there I had to include all manner of spooky, ghouly and other-worldly creatures. Notable inclusions are the Chamilia Love you to Death, Ohm Beads Teruterubozu Good Weather Doll and Flying Spaghetti Monster, Pandora Ghost, Alex Cramariuc’s Woman Scorned and the Trollbeads Ganesha and Trollbeads Day Bead.

I opted for the Elfbeads Treasure Chest Lock as it reminded me vaguely of the box they use to store the nasties once captured.

The remaining glass is primarily Elfbeads, particularly chosen for their swirling or electrical looking patterns.

Of course the fun of the glow in the dark beads comes when the lights go down.

Ghostbusters Halloween Charm Bracelet Summary

This bracelet absolutely won’t suit all tastes. It’s gharish with the use of glow in the dark glass and the entire theme is terribly cliched and yet at the same time I simply love it. Looking back I should maybe have tried a couple of my Trollbeads Blizzard beads in the combination to add more variation to the glow.

As always I love to hear from my readers. What are your thoughts on my Ghostbusters themed bracelet? Are you a fan of the glow in the dark glass beads? Hit the comments and let me know!

Clapping hands here and rocking up & down in my seat! Love it! Brilliant Inner Glow – superb! More slime more slime “Ectoplasm” as they call it! Spaghetti Monster, yes!! Infinity & Eternity yes yes!
I for one am loving your stray-from-usual Halloween themes, Victoria!

Aaaw I’m so pleased you like it Faye. I know some of these movies are a bit love or loathe (I have some friends who believe they are SO cheesy and cliche) and I was a little worried lots would hate this. But I couldn’t help it and once I have an idea in my mind, it’s going out there 😀

I might have to watch Ghostbusters this week :>

  2. Leigh

At last, I’ve finally had a chance to sit down and go through some of the articles after a hectic week!

I love this, my son recently got quite into Ghostbusters so we’ve watched it a few times recently.

Great bracelet, I can’t help but feel that I miss out on some of the other fab beads (loving that Chamilia skull) but being a troll purist I have a bit of an issue adding other brands into my bracelet. I think I’m going to have to get over that though. I’m sure there’s loads I’m missing out on because of that!

  3. Samantha Cardimon

Like Leigh, I am a Troll purist. But, having seen some of your fab designs (especially the awesome Steampunk bracelet) and knowing how much other beads can add to a bracelet’s look, I have now cracked somewhat and purchased from RBF and Novobeads. (More to come with RBF, Cramariuc, and Elfbeads.) This is just such a fun design. Truly creative stuff you do. And I love the oddity of it! That’s the best part. These bracelets are a way of creating a secret world for ourselves–they can reflect our innermost selves and thoughts–and we can either let others in on our secret or not. That’s what I most love about collecting these little treasures. If I’m having a stressful time, I’ll pull out the Spirituality bracelet I created (with the Troll chakra beads and appropriate silvers). Or if I’m in a good mood and feeling funky, the limes and oranges come out. So, I love that you love the 80s and honor such a cool film. Now if only we could get a bead in the shape of Harold Ramis….

    This is great!
I must say I share Samantha’s sentiments about collecting and wearing these combinations.
I think that is why I got into collecting European Charms. I really like how you mix brands with very creative and eclectic results.
I like Ohm’s silver featured here…the one with the long peculiar name. Of course Chamilia’s skull is just such an amazing charm. I can see this being used for more than just a Hallowe’en themed ensemble.
On a side note, I am totally considering getting Troll’s Moonlight Cat. After all it’s been a whole week since I bought any charms. 😉
I’ll have to buy Winter tires for the car first….and groceries….pay the property taxes… :p

  5. Nereida

LOVE it. I was wondering, what is the difference between the inner glow and blizzard beads. I thought the blizard glowed blue and the inner glow glowed green, but these seem to glow blue. I was going to order a bunch during free bracelet event and wanted the blue glow.

  6. Angela

Victoria, you have outdone yourself, never would think I could like anything with a skull but loving this bracelet. OMGoodness now wished I had seen this before the Elfbeads Starlights were retired. This is so different and new for Halloween, loving the idea of other than traditional Halloween colors. The Elfbeads Trunk lock sure lends itself to the spooky, I can almost hear the creeky hinges. Probably the first time I have seen the Trollbeads Day bead used that I have liked.

  7. Natalie

    Love this creation! Beautiful combos!
