ACA Kreations Restocks and Mini Launch

This charm bracelet blog alerts readers to a restock of certain ACA Kreations pieces, including the Endangered Trolls Hellboy edition plus the mini launch of the Cheshire Cat pendant. It includes an update on the coveted Dragon & Phoenix bead.

Last week saw the launch of the much anticipated ACA Kreations Dragon & Phoenix in store at the Great Lakes Boutique Spring Bead Break event. Originally the plan had been to launch online simultaneously but concerns about stock levels prevented this.

Early this morning Alex listed his remaining stock of the bead on the ACA Kreations website and predictably they sold out in mere moments. For those of you who missed it, fear not as there are forty beads left to be cast to complete the run of one hundred. He's aiming to offer this final restock next month.

During last weekend many people were contacting me directly regarding the very special ivory beads Alex took with him. These featured yellow and rose gold inlays in varying sizes. Please note that all ivory is available via commission only so you need to contact Alex directly.

Ivory? Excuse my concerns but where does this come from?

    • endangeredtrolls

It varies. He uses different types.

I think Heather’s concerns are more environmental. I won’t be even considering any purchase from ACA until I know the source of the ivory is: legal, antique (as in 100 years or more), and furthering more that he WILL run out and not seek newer sources. I’m not particularly happy that there are ivory pieces available at all because it does create demand for something that belongs to multiple endangered species. However antique ivory is available today as curio carvings and piano keys. Those had best be ACA’s only sources.

Excuse me, I did mean Helen.

        • endangeredtrolls

All of Alex’s ivory is sourced legally. It’s CITES certified where applicable but it’s also worth remembering that there are types of ivory still legally obtained via hunting, particularly here in Scandinavia.

I believe the ivory used on the newest beads are walrus but you’d need to speak to him for total clarification.

          Hi Lilith,
I spoke with Alex extensively at the bead break regarding his sources of ivory. He can better explain, but I know he uses elephant and walrus ivory. The elephant ivory is all legally obtained with accompanying paperwork. The walrus ivory is obtained, I believe, from native Greenland populations who are permitted to harvest a certain number of walruses per year as it is part of their culture, and they use the entire walrus, not just the tusks. So Alex will continue to have ivory from these sources.

I questioned him about this as I have the same reservations you do. I ended up buying a walrus ivory and gold piece, and I told Alex outright I was not comfortable buying elephant ivory no matter what the source.

If you are interested in the beads, Alex can explain better

The fact that elephant ivory is used is an issue for me also.

          • Lilith

Thank you to both Lisa and Victoria for clarifying. I actually only knew walrus tusks as Morse before and was unaware it is traded as a type of ivory so that cleared up much of my hesitation to support ACA. To know Alex trades in only legal ivory and sources from regulated native hunts I do apologize for jumping to my more aggressive first conclusion.

Apologies not necessary <3 It's a delicate subject. People can understandably get upset. The main reason I ask anyone truly interested to talk to Alex is that he's far more knowledgeable than me and of course, he knows in greater depths where he's sourcing <3 🙂

            xoxo

Oooo, unexpected restocking of the Endangered Trolls bead! I’ve ordered the oxidised/yellow gold version that I missed out on last time round. Thanks Victoria 🙂

    • endangeredtrolls

Aaaaw thank you! <3 😀 I hope you'll love him once he arrives 😀

I was so tempted by the Cheshire Cat pendant last weekend. And by the gold-horn ET beads. And by several other pieces as well! Prioritizing is SO hard! But Alex got quite a substantial chunk of my money, so I shouldn’t even be looking at this. 😊

Step away from the screen… 😊

    • endangeredtrolls

The shopping opportunities last week were insane 😀 The worst part is that we’ve already started plotting and scheming for the next event too 😀 Like you said this is just Alex’s stuff.. then there’s the True Treasures and the Ohmniques!

      xoxo

      • Kim

They were indeed! I could have easily spent my whole budget just with Alex. And had to forcibly restrain myself from doing so since I hadn’t even seen what the other artists had on offer yet when I made my first stop by Alex’s table! Well, plenty on the wish list for next time, right?

  4. Gene

Hi Victoria, Maybe I should already know this, but in the photo where you’re wearing your gold bangle with the berries spacers could you please tell me what that red bead is? It looks like a dragon wrapped around it. Because I am going to be needing it. Thank you.

  5. Maddy

Thank you!!! Now I am waiting for Hellboy to wing his way to me!!!

  6. Julia

last weekend hubby spent all his pocket money with Alex, so I am not looking, not looking, not looking =)))))
